I highly doubt it'll happen, but we have been linked to signing Odemwingie from West Brom for around 8 million. It may go through if we get desperate at the end of the window, as it was evident that we badly need a striker.
The deal for Maiga looks as if it could be completed before the match agaisnt the unwashed for around 7 million, but I don't think he'll get the number 9 immediately.
At the moment we have been strongly linked to 2 left backs, Erik Pieters and Aly Cissoko. I reckon we'll get Pieters, as his deal is cheaper, but then again Cissoko is French.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Congrats, you have the uncanny ability to completely copy what everyone else has said and put it into one really long post. Thats a seriously good talent to have. On a serious note waste of time typing both the message for yourself and this for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate half the stuff on here has already been written atleast once doesnt mean hes copying it, what about obertan anyway that got written loads of times and look what happened there

Modibo Maiga is set to join us at the weekend ed. ive a very good source, will write it up 2mara. will be in most of the papers as well

Believable12 Unbelievable12

Heard this too many times with too many different strikers zzzzzzzz

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope not he's carp

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a Carp?? rubbish We definitely don't want him if he's a fish. Unless he's Billy the Fish of course, then sign him up now I say

Agree0 Disagree0

Id prefer a salmon than a carp better ability to leap for headers or possible a flying fish to play on the wing .....imma go hang myself for those jokes

newcastle interessted in west brom striker peter odemwingie

Believable9 Unbelievable11

He is 29 and WBA have slapped a 8 million valuation on him so judging by what the club has said in recent times i think this is rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Any strikers left that you clowns havent been interested in .face up no body wants to go to your once was club

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a good signing IMO.
8m said to be enough to get him and he scored a good amount last season for a first season and considering he played a lot of it as a lone striker. Would be a good partner to ba/ameobi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea go for him

Modibo Maiga is continuing his protest and has refused to fly out for Sochauxs euro qualifier tonight (my source is one of the skysports Journos on twitter)

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Even the bbc are saying that he is protesting, and the bbc don't usually report unless something is concrete, so hopefully we can get him in to face the scum

Agree0 Disagree0

Just the sort of character needed at Newcastle. A mercenary a**ehole.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want a player who refuses to play because a club dont wanna sell him as hes under contract

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants to play for us so hopefully we have him before game against Mackems

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt ben arfa do the same thing or am i mistaken ed

{Ed042's Note - He did but was a slightly different scenario, had a lot more of a backstory to it before it got to that}

Agree0 Disagree0

We should be relieved a target actually wants to come to us with the club in the state its in

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 16:17:42
heard any news on our striker situation ed? Who do you think is the front runner at this moment time?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed042's Note - Rodellega is pretty quick out of the gate, followed closely in 2nd by Bendtner, Rodallega has it by a nose from Bendtner with Maiga not far behind in third, oh now Maynard is coming up from the back as they come over the 2nd hurdle, they have to deal with some traffic as Inflated Transfer Fee is getting in the way of all their progress along with Annoying Agent and Ludacris Wage Demands, on the home stretch now its looking close as they come over the last hurdle, oh Maynard has taken a tumble leaving 1st up for grabs between the other 3, its looking like its going right down to the wire, possible photo finish... ha sorry lad, just had to write something different, been answering this question all week and truth is nobody knows who the favorite is bar the men with the pen}

Agree0 Disagree0

Nicely done Ed - this striker palava needs livening up a bit Chris

Agree0 Disagree0

Well i can tell u for sure that bendtner is not wanted at sjp as derek llambias released an official statement explaining how we are not interested in him atall, maiga looks most possible.

newcastle have been told that they have to pay 7mil for aly cissoko

Believable9 Unbelievable4

That's less than half the money they signed him for.

Young, French, quality left back. Potential for resale value.

Ashley - get your chequebook out before Arsenal pounce

umours in glasgow is us are trying to but jelavic for 11m i think he worth nout 15m-18m

Believable9 Unbelievable18

I think you'd be lucky to get half that

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not worth between 15-18p let alone 11m

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you chew your keyboard to write this post :) but id say £6-7mil would be fair as hes only proven in the scottish league

Agree0 Disagree0

He also proven in europe and he better then carrol Man Utd wanted u but nvr mind he said he wouldnt leave rangers for a team like newcastle only a team like Man Utd so u could never have him

Agree0 Disagree0

Well thats a relief, if he would only go to a team like Man U, then i'm sure he will spend the rest of his career rotting in the scottish joke of a league.
God, we are average, and i would be happy to put a bet on that we would batter you lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Course ye would thats y a couple of seasons ago we drew with Man Utd and barca in the champions league but uv prob nvr herd of that hav u

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we have our posts and replys in English please

Agree0 Disagree0

Drew with barca and drew with man united wow Firstly it's not that hard to qualify when you play in a pub team division, however when you come up against anyone with credit your out.. Like last week, and for the record yes we've heard of the CL.... We beat Barcelona and we qualified for the second group stage... We've played Man Utd loads of times and beaten them on numerous occasions... Hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Oooo you drew with barca and man utd? We've beat barca in the champs league and beaten man utd 5 nil once upon a time. We can all live in the past....

Agree0 Disagree0

Pre season last year
rangers 2-1 newcastle
easy

Agree0 Disagree0

A freindly? Your hyping yourselves up cos you won a freindly? Come off it mate Plus you beat a just out of the championship team by 1 goal and that makes you a top team? hah

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon pal, surely you're not trying to say Newcastle are a bigger or better team than the Glasgow Rangers. I agree our league ain't the best, but any team can be middle table clubs like yours with the money the epl rakes in. We would destroy you. Don't forget we are the most successful club team on the planet. FACT

Ps. Gd luck this season, I like Newcastle

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny because lovenkrands is dying to get back to rangers, wants to go back to the bigger club and play in europe

Agree0 Disagree0

When the nonsense was being spouted about rangers and celtic joining the premier league, the majority of fans rejected the idea because they knew they would be battling relegation every season, as they are just not good enough, face the facts sweaty socks, football north of the border sucks, and with regards to the beating barcelona in the champions league, any team can beat anyone else on a hyped up occasion such as that, e.g. the scum beating leeds in 1973 fa cup final or Greece winning Euro 2004

Agree0 Disagree0

Lovenkrands can go back to the scottish league in fact PLEASE come and get him i will personally chip in with the ticket. 2nd division player at best which of course would make him like messi in your comp..

SAGEORDIE OUT

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play to you for stickin by ur team m8, no need for the petty Scottish remarks though is there? Never heard any rubbish like that from any decent English bloke, you must just be a complete w**ker. Anyway, say what you like about our league, fact is we are a far superior team than Newcastle, we have a richer history and the greatest fans on the planet. And what's this rubbish about us and the old tic battling relegation? Seriously pal, the players that would jump at the chance to play for us, or even for Celtic is unreal. Most teams in the EPL know that we would ( after a season or few ) be fighting it out at the top as the money we'd make in the league would give us the buying power that we've been doin without for years and still managed success.
Fact is, with the financial power the EPL generates, we'd do damage down there.

Agree0 Disagree0

He isnt worth £11 million

Agree0 Disagree0

I think ranger is a good team in par with psv or marseille. With regards to best fans, I know your not all like it but statistics speak for themselves that fights always follow matches or is it the other way round. The football is pre-fight entertainment. Again I know your not all like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes there is a certain number of absolute dickheads that sully's the name of our club. But like u said, that's just some, every team has a**eholes who support them and embarrass the others. However, the majority of Rangers fans are loyal and great supporters of the club. Any player who has played at Ibrox or been in an old firm game will tell you that there is nothin else like it in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the person who said he isn't worth 11 mil ................... if Newcastle got 30 mil for that turkey Carroll, then Jelavic worth 90 mil Anyway your owner wouldn't even give you 5 mil to spend for any player. We are the people. btw Newcastle would finish 3rd at most in spl. Also agree with the guy who said we would destroy you. 4iar

NEWCASTLE UNITED TO TRY AND
RE-SIGN SCOTT PARKER THIS WEEK

Believable9 Unbelievable15

But of course...

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish that rummour was true. i dont know why we sold him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Full caps must be nailed on ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Capitals - must be true now go and spout your garbage somewhere else

Agree0 Disagree0

If Tiote rumour is correct Parker would be one person who could slot in, even though he wouldn't fit the investment model. However given his price & form last season I see Parker staying in London with CFC, THFC or AFC.......SteveToon

Agree0 Disagree0

I see him staying at West Ham because all he does is run around in circles doing the parker Turn which is exactly why we sold him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that coz wer desperate for another midfielder...

New striker to be in and play on saturday Near enough a done deal. just waiting for clearance before fee is signed off....

Believable13 Unbelievable11

If only carlsberg done transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

They would be the best transfers in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

Massive laugh, well done sir/mam you just made my day better.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm bored with plonkers posting mindless drivel without any foundation........SteveToon

Agree0 Disagree0

Aww i actually believed that until you said fee :P jus kiddin i reckon theyll both be in by sat

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not drivel "stevetoon" This is a rumour site and i heard a rumour from someone in the toon today so posted it Stop giving it large unless you know for fact when things are gonna happen. I heard it from a mate who owns a catering company and does the grub in corporate events in and around newcastle. Works and talks to a lot of people. Now you keep drivelling on mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was this posted by Pards?

Agree0 Disagree0

No im not pards but my initials are the same lol

Now if you actually gave the name of this 'done deal', then it would be worth posting...

Believable12 Unbelievable9

Source? If no source then rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is it not true unless the source is there available? Do you always insist on reading a script before you watch a film? My source tho is a freind who works in corporate catering in the toon and does the grub for events in SJP and hears whispers from ground staff from time to time.
Not players or coaches but people in the hospitality suite and administartion. That do you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Truth is he's been sorting personal matters out as his grandmother has recently died that's the main reason holding up the transfer although psv don't really want to sell

NUFC rumours:

Cissoko or Pieters to be done and dusted by Friday to allow the player to play against the unwashed. Most likely to be Pieters, Cissoko has been linked with bigger clubs in the past. Wouldn't be surprised to see Arsenal bid for him considering Eboue has gone from the defense as well as Clichy.

In regards to a striker, we'll either sign an unproven at this level foreigner in a top(ish) European league, or it'll be a young upcoming British player from the Championship. Either neither can be procured, no-one will come in til Jan.

It also looks like we'll be spending in the Jan window to cover for the few players that will be involved in the African Nations.

CrawleyMag

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Tiote and maybe ba will go in january but thats it as the other players nations didnt qualify. They will be a miss but thats what a squad is for and a lot of other teams in the premier will also lose players too

Agree0 Disagree0

How did senegal qualify but nigeria didn't? Would be like Scotland qualifying for Euro but Germany doesn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another bollox poster, nobody has any idea if players will be signed. if u do then give us your source.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another bollox poster? I've quoted stories from SkySports for Pieters and Cissoko (are you a footy fan? cos you must of seen those) And the bit about the striker, it's called SPECULATION. And of course no-one knows who we'll sign, Mike Ashley is our owner FFS Come up with your own rumours rather then just judging others.

CrawleyMag

Agree0 Disagree0

What an person The site is for rumours, things that people have heard Not people just making stuff up, or it would be pointless.

caughtoffside reporting possible Man Utd bid of 14m for tiote if they do bid ashley will definately sell him . nice little profit

Believable6 Unbelievable18

He won't go for that amount. Ashley would want 20 milion plus. He is tied down to a long term contract, so we are in the driving seat with this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

You silly mug. he's worth double that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Caughtoffside havent been right all summer man

Agree0 Disagree0

NUFC rate him in the 25 million pound bracket and have just tied him to a 6 year contract so wont be selling him nevermind for 14 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Nota chance not even fat mike would be dumbeenough to sell at that hes a business man he knows chiek is worth 25 in the modern market

Agree0 Disagree0

Are there any other Newcastle supporters out there who think that Tiote is vastly overrated? Personally, if the rumours of Manchester United’s interest prove accurate I would accept 14 million and reinvest the money elsewhere (i.e. in a striker, left back or creative midfield player).

Having watched Newcastle for many years I can safely say that Tiote is the worst passer of the ball I have ever seen in a black and white shirt. His limitations with the ball at his feet were most clearly exposed last season against Everton where with our most creative players injured or suspended he looked extremely limited. Furthermore, numerous occasions last season he was caught in possession in our own box/half which often led to soft goals. His performance against Arsenal last Saturday was abject with his misplaced passes constantly putting the defence under pressure, needless yellow card, reckless tackle on Gervinho in the box and lack of vision and awareness halting any attacking impetus Newcastle had.

I have never been a great lover of the concept of a ‘holding midfielder player ‘believing it to be a misnomer for ‘journeyman’. I think central midfielders should all be excellent passers of the ball and should be able to both defend and attack, knowing instinctively when to move forward and when to hold while working in tandem with their midfield partner. If a holding midfielder is to be played it is imperative they can pass the ball, like Alonso or Busquets, as the momentum for the attack begins with them. Tiote’s passing range is very limited and this restricts Newcastle and for this reason I would sell him if a large offer came in and replace him with a ball playing midfielder. There might be an argument for playing Tiote in a five man midfield with one up front when away from home, but to play him at home lacks ambition and is tantamount to playing for a draw and hoping for something on the break.

Despite a whole pre-season behind him, it is clear that Pardew does not know what his best team is. His substitutions against Arsenal were frankly bizarre and he showed a lack of conviction and courage to go for the win against a severely weakened Arsenal side. His decision to play with two deep-lying holding midfielders in the last 10 minutes against 10 men was frankly disturbing. When playing at St James when the onus should be on Newcastle to attack and I would argue strongly that with the squad we currently have we should be playing Barton and Cabaye in the centre with two wide men and two strikers. The Shola/ Ba partnership lacks mobility and, therefore, we desperately need a faster player with better movement alongside one of these two. At the current moment in time, I believe Lovenkrands should play the second striker role (alongside Ba or Shola) as his intelligent movement creates space and brings others into the game.

I was impressed with some of Cabye's passing on Saturday but would like to see him on the ball more and Obertan looked threatening if a bit erratic at times so thigns are not all bad. Given the poor quality of some of the other teams in the league this season I expect Newcastle to survive comfortably and with a few shrewd additions we really should be challenging for Uefa Cup stop.
Comments and thoughts welcome.

John Toon

{Ed042's Note - Good post John mate, will leave the rest for others to debate.. as far as Tiote dont agree with you mate.. his pass success rate for last season was 87% his tackles won percentage 75%, considering the amount of tackles he had to make with Nolan gone missing in the centre of midfield that is a very good stat.. true he is more of the old style out and out holding player in the mould of Makelele, not asked to be passing and creative centre mid, nor should he be, and thats why Cabaye was bought, good blend between the two.. anyway, thats my two cents, will leave the rest to others}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Ed here. Tiote is a defensive midefielder, or a one man wrecking ball. weve brung in more attack minded midfileders like cabeye, marveux, and obertan. Tiote is a man who lykes to boss his opponents about and to be honest if i seen him coming at me id go and score an own goal to keep him happy. needs to work on his fitness and be a bit more careful on how many cards he gets this season, nothing to do with trying to get into europe on fair play rules, just based on the fact when he was supended last season it did have an effect. Would lyk to of see obertan playin upfront agains the scum, with his pace and decent delivery (which we are capable of) i rekon he could bang the goals in or at least cretae oppurtunities for others.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, you are possibly the only one who thinks that. i didnt even read the rest of your post after that nonsense statment

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you ed tiote was a star for Newcastle last session have to say hes got to be the best signing we have made in a good 5 years if not more to have 85% pass rate and 75% tackle rate in your first year in the prem is nothing short of amazing and screams top class player

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ed. I agree about everything in the post except the slagging of tiote who in my opinion is one of the best midfielders in the premier league, far better than sandro, Mikel, anderson/carrick who are all dubbed as being brilliant midfielders by their own fans and pundits alike.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think this john has sum facts dm are a must have you look at the big clubs that win things like Man Utd man c chelse all have world glass dm that play a major part in there teams

Agree0 Disagree0

Our problem isnt that we DO have a Defensive CM but that last season we didnt have an Attacking CM(Who could run back and create aswell) i feel this year wit a LB and a CF our squad will have a very nice Balance to it
opTIMistic Geordie

Agree0 Disagree0

25mil for tiote ha, David Silva was 23mil in the sensible market so tiote is only 12mil unless kenny's going in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the fella who posted the essay. you mention the Everton game last season. I'm guessing your not talking about the game at Goodison, wer we won 1-0 and Tiote had a 100% pass completion?
Know his position mate. He is a DEFENSIVE MID. Wins the ball and gives it easy. Perfect for the likes of Cabaye to play alongside, so they can have abit more freedom going forward to pick a pass.
He would be more or less impossible to replace for £12m.
And your saying use the money to buy a leftback or a forward.. I'm hoping the Enrique money covers his departed position & a forward is on the cards anyway. Once we decide which 1 of 40 we've supposedly been linked with..

Agree0 Disagree0

Better than anderson carrick mikel sandro none of those players are regular first team players for their respective clubs so thats hardly a positive is it

bellamy in newcastle just seen him at the lights

Believable4 Unbelievable21

How many people have been spotted in Newcastle? ya talking rubbish m8

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen him aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Noway, he told reporters how much he hates nufc and the supporters, and was only willing to play here for SBR

Agree0 Disagree0

He fell out with SBR and thats what led him to have a bust up with shearer and then put in a transfer request. He would only be up here visiting freinds if he was indeed up here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bellamy's been seen everywhere if you believe the gossip...he will not return to Newcastle. A better bet is those from the dump down the road.

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen messi and ronaldo in greggs

Agree0 Disagree0

The fame of the Greggs pasty has spread.

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw Kaka & Xavi in Subway

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you will find he still claims leaving Newcastle was his biggest mistake in football....so the mackem who claimed he hates everything about newcastle needs to go have a wash

Just read a intresting article that manu have made a 14mil bid for tiote. Please don't be true. Source - BBC sport gossip. Caughtoffside.com

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Might have bid £14m, but not a chance in getting him for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a chance of believing caughtoffside either. They must have a 0.09% success rate in their transfer gossip.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god, Tbh hes on a 5 year deal, so 14mil sounded cheap : /

What was crack with Taylor from Swansea not playing last night?ins he injured or we back in for him?? Ed {Ed001's Note - he is certainly not listed as injured, but they might have decided his head was just not in the right place with all the speculation. I have certainly not heard anything solid saying you are back in for him, though the interest has been maintained.}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

I thought he was suspended due to cards received at the end of last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suspended he got sent off in the play off semi final

Agree0 Disagree0

He is still suspended from being sent off in the play offs.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was serving out the remainder of a ban for being sent off during the playoffs last season. Back for next match.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus we been linked to 2 better players for that position now so he been left behind

morning ED... just read the rumour mill ie maynard ..maiga..ect etc you got any info on incoming players m8 its now tuesday gonna be pushing it to get players in by sat ...i also think quoting pardew 2 more players in that we need at least four players in...just wonder if other peeps agree with that ...geordie tom

{Ed042's Note - Checked out the Maynard rumour, apparently inquired as to fee but havnt followed up. Pieters deal should see progress one way or the other over next two days, and french media is reporting a impending move for Cissokho. Maiga is well reported. Other rumoured players are two young french defenders in Darnel Situ and William Remy}

looks like our left back will be either cissoko or pieters
who should we sign

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Extatic with either to be honest but cissokho looks like hed give us a bit more goin forwards faster stonger trickier too but pieters the more solid Defensively either way both are equal to enrique but younger great coup if we land either of em

Agree0 Disagree0

Pieters

Agree0 Disagree0

In my experience with NUFC the driving factor will be whoever is cheapest.......... SteveToon

Agree0 Disagree0

Pieters wants to come to Newcastle cissoko just wants to leave Lyon I'd personally prefer pieters

Agree0 Disagree0

Cissoko

Agree0 Disagree0

Cissokho would be a top, top class signing. I'd be over the moon if we landed him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree either would be great, prob prefer cissoko as hed provide that extra attack and overlap option which we lost with the sale of enrique, also haver to agree with steve toon its most likely going to be the cheapest option

Agree0 Disagree0

Cissokho much netter then Pieters. Pieters sucks

Agree0 Disagree0

But you won't, if you believe these two are top, top class then i'm sure there will be better clubs looking at them. In fact aren't that club down the road after a left back? Much better proposition than a relegation fight

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL SMB

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you SMB's will need a whole new team nevermind a LB once Barton and the gang rip you apart on Saturday :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Pieters Sissoko will probably be off to the ANC & we will be back to where we are now

Agree0 Disagree0

Sissoko has played as a full french international so will not be in the ACN as france isnt in Africa

Agree0 Disagree0

And pieters is dutch
