i thought newcastle were in a better financial situation than what was reported on the north east news tonight. paying out 90% of income on wages with a crowd over 50,000 every home game who is the big earners at the club that is making such a hole in the income. as the club is trying to balance the books to get this down to what the financial advisor on the tv stated to 65% will be hard. players on high wages will have to go and the new signings will have to expect to join on the clubs new wage cap so i think a big named forward to the club is highly unlikely. but not all doom and gloom the new uefa law will be out soon and if the wages stop under the income then europe could be on the agenda as some of the big clubs are paying over 100% i.e man city chelsea liverpool tottenham man utd and wont be allowed into european competitions

I don't think it is that much doom and gloom, Smith is on 60k plus, Nolan was on 45k, Cambell was on 50k plus. We just have to stop paying people stupid money Viduka joined us on 90k, Owen was on 100k plus, Collocini is on 90k. No other team out of the top 6 pay this except West Ham and look what happened to them. Our house is being put in order and it's what we need, we will still have enough to bring in a decent striker

No one saying ye not going to sign a forward but not someone like a sturridge maybe a shane long who is a class championship player but feel he could make transition to top flight in right team also if newcastle can be in a situation with 50,000 fans what about the crap other teams must be in some teams must be close to going to the wall

Other teams are going to the wall the teams at the top are either in massive debt or wealthy owners. Man City and Chelsea are billionaires toys. Fulham and Wigan bankrolled by millionare not bothered about profit. Man Utd in hundreds of millions in debt, wait and see about Liverpool. Arsenal are only responsible team in the top half of the division. When financial fair play comes in they will be top two every year, and if we sort ourselves out like we are we will be a top 6 regualr

The ne news is talking a load of crap the same as the cron and journal.all teams are in the same boat apart from the odd one or to who have got loads of cash cant wail until the season starts sick off all the media rubbish keep the faith

So the media are talking crap, i take it you are fully aware of the financial situation. Care to enlighten us?

Another mag who can't take the truth, is ashley sending you a memo of the financial goings on in newcastle or are dumbfounded?

If wages are still at 90% of income wheres all the money gone?
Wage bill has been well & truly slashed and CANNOT be anywhere more than 70% at the moment and only getting lower.
Open your eyes and see Ashleys taking us all for a ride.

{Ed042's Note - No idea mate, been linked with so many its hard to know, all I can say for sure is we`re still looking at Long, and have been said to be current favorites to sign Bendtner, although cant see us matching his wages}

Yeh bendtner is kind of in the same mold as ba so i doubt it would be him more likely to be long or another player in that mold.

Bendtner is on 40k a week, so.. its possible to sign him within our current cap

Bendter is on 53k a week the same as his squad number

Bendtner's squad number is 52 - his 'lucky' number. He isn't on 53k a week, it is more like 40k. I think he would be a decent signing, he can definitely finish when given a chance and is much better than the likes Shola, Lovenkrands and Best.

Now hoping after the dissapointment of not getting Zoggy that we go after Barnetta of Bayer 04 Leverkeun he's considerbly cheaper a 7M rather that 9M- 20M for Zoggy

Who has ever stated that Zogs would be anywhere near 20m? Someone might have to pay 12 but I think that would be tops.

Also, where does it say that we definitely not going to get him?

ED ive heard from a couple of sources that Jeremain Lens is are next striker target, u heard anything about this? {Ed042's Note - Has been mentioned a couple of times in the last few weeks, along with every other striker in Europe at this stage, no approach to date as far as I know}

Cheers ed. Personally think we should go all out for him because he fits all the criteria young, pacey, strong, decent scoring record, can play as a striker or winger so could be very useful if we decided to switch to a 451/433 from the 442. Also he'd probably cost around £6-8 million.

Monday...the big day that talks will happen between Newcastle and a top striker pls watch this space he is foreign and is an international massive signing that will show the world football that Newcastle united and mike Ashley mean business after his sports company show profits of 200,000,000 last year and now wants to back Newcastle in the wright direction

Had to check the date wasn't April 1st...... I can't see the club spending any more than £5 million before the end of this transfer window.....

They wont spend till we sell, like for like with a profit for Slim..

Not one penny of that 200 mil will go into the club. If you read the reports this morning it states that there will be huge payouts to staff ( around 30k each ) for reaching targets over the past two years.
I'd be happy if we actualy spent the 35m but that ain't going to happen.

Since when did the amount you spend on a player determine how good he is? Tiote must be mediocre if we only paid 4.3 million for him..... Hernandez was 6 million and he is terrible............. Judge a player on how well he performs, not on how much he costs

I completely agree with the last post, we aren't going to paying 10-15-20 million for players anymore. We will pick up 'financially viable' players that fit in to the new structure which I think is a good thing. Who is to say that getting players on free transfers or activating clauses in their contracts detracts from their ability? Tiote was arguably one of the best signings of the last season at £3m (not £4.3) and Hernandez is probably United's best signing since Ronaldo at a snip of £6m. On the other hand we could just be throwing money around like Liverpool and bidding £20m for players regardless of their actual value or age....

Barring injuries or suspensions if Ameobi starts a single game next season we aren't moving forward in any way, shape or form and that worries me more than anything else the club is doing.

My mate at Sky Sports News Radio says they're interviewing Barton's agent Willie Mackay at 1230 on their Transfer Talk show. Might have some news about Barton's future and other Newcastle players.

Iv been listening to sky sports radio and willie mackey hasn't been mentioned or Barton yet

Newcastle will definately buy another striker, source (Alan Pardew on the NUFC blog/Journal). Pardew is hoping to still bring Mevlut Erding but is losing his patients with the striker but newspapers claim it's his agents fault. The journal predicts if Newcastle do miss out on Erding then they will asses there options on 3 strikers who plays in the European league which rules out possible moves for Bendtner, Sturridge and Long. Moussa Sow is understood to be one of those 3 options who is a better player than Erding himself. (ToonThomas)

Sorry cannot ever see this happening, source i speak to within the club does not believe we will sign anyone else They are just keeping us content with rumours, they will then say "we tried but could not offer european football".
