So what we have missed out on De Jong. Remember Ricky vanwolfswinkle? Big clubs looking at him and when he got a move,flopped big style,NOW he is interesting smaller clubs like Fulham,Sunderland etc. What about Gervinio? Messed us about and look at him now,Arsenals third team or summit. Nope lets leave it to Mr Carr to work on other targets and wait and see.

We've been linked with sofiane feghouli of Valencia, anyone know anything about him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is an attacking midfielder that can play on either wing, he is young at only 22 and is an international for Algeria. He would probably cost around £6-7 million

What team of reserves would everyone play?

Alnwick
Tavernier streete good ferguson
Bigiramama inman
Amalfitano abeid ameobi
Hoops/ranger?

The only reason i include ranger is because he is very talented but he wastes it

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The only reason you include Ranger is because at the moment we have nowt else up front. Hooper nowhere near ready yet for reserves.
You might have to include Obertan, Williamson Gosling, Raylor and Shola in there though, as they won't get too much first team play (or first team bench either) if we get the signings we want.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ranger is absolutely cr*p. He would be on the bench for the youths. Sell him for 10 quid or so and watch his career go down the pan.

Agree1 Disagree3

I dont see the point in playing shola,willo,etc. Whats the point in winning reserve matches but not giving the youngsters a game week in week out

Agree2 Disagree0

So how do you keep fit, players like those who may not get much game time? They need to be match fit for emergency call ups to the first team squad.

Agree1 Disagree1

Raylor, Willo, Shola etc will all get game time cos we will have so many extra games this year... Ranger is an person on a massive wage who we need rid of asap

Newcastle = A mid pl league team that boxed away above its weight last season with an English manager that likes to hear himself farting in the bath ....Big Fraser a Goal Keeper who will go on to achieve moderate success on the European stage with one of the sleeping giants (starting to waken)of European football ...Whilst all the PL teams bar 2 or 3 are feeding of the tit of Murdock and oil barons and have become bloated and lazy Celtic have gone about their buisness in a quite and mannerly fashion .
When the bubble bursts in the PL and it will ,Newcastle will go back to the bumbling wreck it always was carrying a chicken ,fishing rod and 6 back of beer up and down the Tyne,as for Pardew well he'll just float back to obscurity as a know FA pundit like Shearer....TTTS

Believable1 Unbelievable11

Who is this ranting lunatic |???

Agree7 Disagree0

Thanks for the rant, guessing by your long winded, bumbling statement your a Celtic fan who follows at best a Sunday morning team in a league of similar standing and if Celtic were ever to enter the PL they would be lucky to finish in the top 10. Enjoy your haggis and battered mars bars.

Agree7 Disagree0

Of course Celtic are a bigger club than Newcastle. Martin O'Neill only manages BIG clubs. They have some of the best fans in the world and are welcome in Sunderland anytime.Newcastle are about the equivalant of Aberdeen.}

Agree0 Disagree7

Another sad deluded SMB who in his alter ego is a die hard celtic fan WORRYING !!

Agree6 Disagree0

How much did Newcastle pay for Boumsong, Spurs for Hutton.....a lot of lower level players from the epl wouldn't get in the Celtic team.Players from Newcastle don't have the euro experiance or winning mentality it takes to play for a club chasing and winning trophys

Agree0 Disagree1

To many iron brews i recon...geordie tom

Agree2 Disagree0

Do your research mate, Cabaye ,colocini.Ben arfa ,jonas ,Santon to name just a few have all got various cup honors . Your post is pointless and pathetic in equal measure.

Agree2 Disagree0

Do Celtic actually have any decent players? Drawing them in Europe is like an international team getting the same group as the Faroe islands. Samaras and hooper or Cisse and Ba?

Agree4 Disagree0

Remind me of a player who played for celtic who could tie shearers boots....little league in scotland with well below average teams if celtic joined the prem league within 2 seasons they would be in champoinship.....even safc would look good up there.....

Agree4 Disagree0

What a clown .... Larrson .Hartson and Sutton would all be pick by any sane manager aheead of the over rated Shearer.....Larsson play for 3 of the biggest clubs in the world whilst shearer played for blackburn and newcastle ,hardly rolling of the tongue in the world of football....get over it.... your a 2 bit club boxing way above your weight in a league where only 2/3 clubs have any chance of winning .....TTTS

Agree0 Disagree2

Victor wanyama is a cracking midfielder wasted at celtic and spl,also ki and james forrest all who would walk into newcastles team.

Agree0 Disagree5

Any fergie and giggsy both came out and said they would have been unstoppable if shearer did sign for them..dont remember any of those player winning the goldon boot....in fact them 3 players goals dont add up to shearers goals what does that tell you...ttts....2 clubs in scotland thats it and they are sh***..you cant even raise the 2 million for foster get back in to your hole..scots are famous for getting ne where in football and having a very poor football league....nothing but job dodgers

Agree0 Disagree0

Shearer golden boot?
no mate that was super kevin phillips of sunderland. he won the european golden boot with 30 league goals in the premiership then not given a chance by keegan for england even though he was europes best.put that in your pipe and smoke it mary alan shearer poppins.

Agree2 Disagree1

To suggest Phillips is a better player than Shearer is beyond funny LMAO at that one mate.

Agree3 Disagree2

I would of rather had phillips than Shearer and I rate both as top draw strikers.Fair enough Shearer was better consistantly and proved himself over many seasons.Phillips on the other hand had spells in the championship.I remember shearer saying no one will ever score 30 league goals again in the premier league just before the season started.End of that season Super Kevin Phillips finished on 30 league goals lol won the european golden boot something no Englishman has done before,he is the only englishman to win that Shearer never did.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeh but who's scored the most premier league goals, oh yeh that would be Shearer ...nuff said then.

Agree2 Disagree1

But he never won the european golden boot and if phillips played hes whole career in the prem he would be the all time top scorer.

Shearer is not the best striker to grace the prem.Henry,Cantona,Bergkamp,Drogba,Anelka,C.Ronaldo,Tevez,Torres all better than Shearer.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was the most prolific one though and it's goals that win games .Go abroad and who's name is more recognised ,that would be Shearer.

Agree0 Disagree0

I should add his name is more recognised than Phillips abroad ,just to clarify.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes because of The England National Team NOT Newcastle.That's why Shearer is more well known for he's England exploits something that after winning the golden boot Phillips didn't get a chance because of keegan.
I remember the italian coach and spanish and german coach saying they wish Phillips was of their nationalities because he would of been in the team never mind the squad when England failed to pick him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plenty of clubs abroad wanted shearer as did the best premier league team of all time Man utd ,didn't see them go after Phillips did we.

Agree0 Disagree1

European Golden Boot end of.

Shearer only played for little clubs like saints,Rovers where he won hes only trophy,and Newcastle where he won?.

Agree1 Disagree0

He turned down Fergie twice as he wanted to play for his hometown club .Let's be honest here he could of walked into most PL teams and you know it.

Ed, do you think Ricardo Quaresma is worth a shot, apparently he's set to leave Besiktas, wadayathink? {Ed001's Note - no, he has a terrible attitude, Newcastle's success last season was in large part due to having rid the club of the attitudes.}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

The only attitude we had was Joey Barton, so that is 1 {Ed001's Note - rubbish, you had Nolan and Carroll and others whose off pitch attitude was terrible. I was not talking about thugs.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Ok, that was an excellent answer Ed {Ed001's Note - thank you, unless it was sarcasm, as I am too tired to detect that at this time of night!}

07 Jul 2012 11:36:26
Ed, reports say that we have to pay 16 million pounds for Luuk De Jong, do u think he is worth it? I mean we only paid 8-10 ish for Cisse so mayb we should move to another target? {Ed001's Note - sometimes he looks fantastic, other times he looks average. From what I have seen of him, he is like a younger, quicker Dirk Kuyt, runs his socks off, scores goals, good in the air and can play wide right or up front. He does seem suited to the Prem and Newcastle need another striker. I would say 16m is about right.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I dont, no way is 16 mill good for him,some of these players cant do it in prem lge eg: kezman scoreing goal for fun,durk kuut nowhere near as good as in holland,these are just players off the top of my head,if newcastle dont want to pay then lets trust them

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats why foster is there no 1,and our no 3 it speaks volumes {Ed003's Note -wrong thread I think mate}

I think park ji sung from man utd would be a great little signing for nufc. However he looks likely to join MH at loftus road

Believable2 Unbelievable1

No way if he was 30+ year old i would bet my hubbys left test**** he would be sining for safc......k

Agree0 Disagree0

GOD NO he is 32 soon and ishas gone for 5 million

Do we need Gutierrez any more and would he start in your first choice team? Just yes or no responses for me its yes then no. Need him for cup and Europe but not league. Ed start us off {Ed001's Note - I would say he should be kept, but only as a back up to cover injuries and loss of form.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Honest hard working , yes we need him , agree does not score or create enough going forward ,but play him more defensive , as for his country or away when we need to be more rigid on occ . Def need him .

Agree2 Disagree0

He was our best player last season by a country mile... Start him every game if he can

Agree1 Disagree4

So which players do you want in our midfield then Ed? Cabaye, Tiote and who? Marveaux, R. Taylor, Obertan? I say we need Gutierrez until we buy a new good MF, I don't expect us to do that though. {Ed001's Note - well I would play 3 in midfield, so only one more to play alongside them, I expect someone to be brought in for that position.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just signed a 4 year deal so he is highly thought of. Name me a player who works harder in the team? I would defo keep him even if it meant coming off bench later in the games.

Agree1 Disagree0

Joan's was one of the best players last season and certainly helped Taylor
Was third in league regarding miles covered

Agree1 Disagree1

Gutierrez was an unsung hero last season. His energy and workrate wasn't bettered by anyone, not even Tiote. He's not world class yet other than he goes to ground too easy and his final ball isn't consistent Pardew will start with him next season, you'll see.

Agree1 Disagree0

We all as Newcastle fans know he goes down easy but has yet to earn a reputation for it as proved that he won most freekicks last season out of anyone. Interesting to see everyone's thoughts still not sure if he will be used as much as last year though with abied marveaux vukic raylor benarfa New French lad +any new midfield signings.
