just wondering why everyone seems to really dislike Ngog he was actually doing very well for liverpool last season then they signed suarez so he was back to the bench i personally hope we sign a quality forward from the turkish league as they seem to all work bloody hard and quite a lot of goals but i think the kierrison deal wd be excellent too

Many calls for NUFC to bring in a striker.
We seem to have in our mind Andy C but tell me which teams are using the tactic of lumping balls up to a battering ram.
The successfull International teams and sides like Barca dont use Wimbledon style tactics they have any of four or five breaking quickly through midfield to get their goals hence very difficult to defend against.
Remember Germany vs England world cup we simply could cope with their mid field pace.
You need players who can shoot and head the ball when attacking, but work it out ,do you have a better chance of scoring in a 3 against 2 or a corner kick when everybody is back defending.
The succesful teams and International sides have worked it out and I think NUFC might just be developing a side that can play this fast counter attacking style.Roll on Saturday and lets see if we are heading the right way.

Was at the match on Saturday would be unfair to comment
On performance due to weather but I was quite surprised
at how small marveaux is haven't seen enough of him
But wandering wether he will cut it in the premiership
Would like opinions on this.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

There been a few small players who have done very well in the premiership so not too concerned Look at zola, walcott, SWP, lennon owen to name a few

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes 5 foot 8/9 since when was that small it is the avaerage height for a normal man. its just th fact that the premiership is full of cloggers who have no skill just pace and strength. look at messi xavi, the best player ever all under 5 ft 6

Agree0 Disagree0

Was not knocking the guy and surprised he's 5'8 wish him and all the players good luck and roll on sat

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually hes 6ft 4 but he was standing in a puddle

{Ed042's Note} Sorry to have to post this again lads, with the amount of crap ive had to delete today some people obviously missed it...

Been a lot of good posts, footie chat and quality banter being ruined by simple abuse as of late.. we have been letting it go but end of the day want the site to be QUALITY content above quantity and have a very good reputation for both rumours and banter.. nobody wants to read pages of ill thought out abuse at the end of the day, just repetitive and boring

Same goes for rumours.. posts along the lines of Les Ferdinands mothers brothers granny is coming out of retirement to partner Ba up front just wont be put up.. didnt get that by the way ha well actually did today but was taking the mick out of this.. anyway you know what I mean.. keep it to good banter, footie chat and rumours based somewhat in reality, quote a source if possible, things like that you know

Also just a quick mention about the twitter.. people that have followed in the past couple of days have helped the cause a lot in getting good reliable info for when you ask questions.. as you know its a popularity contest on that thing so the more followers I get the better for the site.. so if you can add @keithrtoon and spread the word, get others too as well would really appreciate it lads thanks.. and sorry again for the repeat post

Having just watched the Charity shield together with his under 21 performances I think Alan Pardope should get on to the phone to his new Mate Sir Alex and say since we are doing him a favour and buying Obertan he should let us buy Welback and take Cleverley on loan for the season. Warnock in at left back, cover at centre half and Defoe up front.

Since January have lost Carroll, Nolan, Kuqi, Campbell and Routledge. With Enrique and poss Barton going we also need to off load any two off Lovenkrands, Best, Ranger or Shola Ameobi as we desperately need two strikers and I can't see MA paying for the four above plus the two we still need.

Signed Cabaye, Ba, Marveraux, Albeid and soon Obertan approx 200k in wages a week and spent 7.5m approx plus say 6m max in signing on fees and agents, so total spent 13.5m approx

Defoe and Welbeck 15 - 18m approx 100k wages, Warnock in 2-3m

Some quick figures would suggest MA still making a profit on sales of about 16million which includes paying alledged agent fees and signing on fees for the players we have already signed. Finally if we could off load Smith on a free and get Cleverley on loan MA would make an overall saving on wages of about 60 - 100k a week at a guess.

Any thoughts (Legin)

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Hes just lost 2oom on the stock market so no cash

Agree5 Disagree2

Ahhh thats whats been the problem. He seen this coming so been keeping his cash back The thing with the stock market is you can lose that much on paper one day then double it back by dinner time the next day

Agree1 Disagree1

He may have lost money on the stock market but wat the f**k has the stok market got to do will NUFC. mike ashley has been making a profit out of us as well as mugs. FACT

Agree3 Disagree1

Fact - there isn't a football club in the world making a profit.
You obviously are an MA insider trying to impress us that he has been able to do something no other football club is able to do.

{Ed042's Note - There is mate... we`re one of only two clubs in England not to make an operating loss last year, Arsenal being the other... granted we dont make massive profit at the moment, broke about even, but within four years we with no remaining debts or loans we will be a self sufficient profitable club}

Normally just post opinions and players who we should be after, but I have heard this afternoon that we have spoken to Spurs about Pavluychenko and he could become our new number 9 this week. I did not think he would fit into our plans at 29 years old and high wages, but alot of noise being made about this. Unless its our famous smokescreen masking a different agenda? Would love him here.
Psycho

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Definitely not going to happen ,how do I know Its in the Sunday Sun we are going to sign him,no logic is given why on earth NUFC would consider a 29 year old when they made this an issue with Nolan. Our local paper gives a different target every week so that by chance if it was to happen they would "we told you so" its pathetic journalism and I,m disappoint

Agree1 Disagree0

We wont be signing him No sell on value and wages too high Same with crouch Be obertan and 2 players of similar stature if anything

Agree1 Disagree0

A wudnt have him anyways. there are much better players about who are available, better age lower wages, sell on fee and some talent

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Aye theres a vintage car thing going on at durage bay. a think

{Ed042's Note - Haha was a flinstones landrover apparently}

Hey ed. We are in need of a centre back for cover and to push Taylor and colocini , wouldn't the perfect solution be to sign upson on a free. I believe that warnock may sign before next week along with long and Obertan :D walkers wisdom

{Ed042's Note - Not a big fan of upson personally, would rather fork out the 4 mil and get bassong or mangala}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

What about Ridgwell? Apparently available for £1.5m and can also cover left back.

To the ed on here, still no chance of Smith moving on?

{Ed042's Note - Unless Leeds want to pay 100% of his wages not likely mate}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fat Cashley and Ken Bates should go out on a date and sort it ;)

{Ed042's Note - Would all fall apart when it cam time to pay the bill, both tight gits ha}

Agree2 Disagree0

Fair point :( :( :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Think MA will might work it out.
LUFC pay £10k/week thus NUFC save half a million and have a clause that if LUFC get promoted to the PL they give us the £2.5million that we will have paid AS while he played for them.Since hes just gonna sit there this season seems a reasonable bet Mike dont you think?

Agree1 Disagree0

This is exactly my point - I mean you're going to be forking out for him for a year at Newcastle anyway so that seems more than reasonable. Someone want to suggest that to Fat Cashley? ;)
Mind you on the Saints showing I'm not sure we look promotion material but with someone like that in there kicking some arse we might stand a chance......

It seems a deal has been done for Enrique for 5.5m.
Is it just me or is this crazy? Are we trying to get rid of all of our best players? Even if for peronal reasons Enrique wants out, he is worth atleast 7m + which would have given us 42m to spend on new players. Shame we wouldnt be spending any of it anyway...

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Enrique might want to be away, still class act yesterday, not affecting his game (a woundnt let him leave until after the sunderland game)

Agree3 Disagree1

Wouldnt let him go for any less than 10 million, Daglish would come back in Jan with more than 5.5 mil he would be scared that someone else would come for him on a free at the end of the season

Aye january, good shout hes going on the cheap, 8 to 10 mill for me

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Obertan yes, long overated but worth a shout for th right price, warnok no way to old with no future sell on price.

erdinc could sign for newcastle but he will definetly leave as psg have 12 strikers/attackers 7. Giuly 8. Luyindula 9. Hoarau 11. Erding 14. Kezman 18. Arnaud 19. Gameiro 21. Maurice 24. Menez 25. Bahebeck 35. Loval Qasmi B

PSG Also landed Pastore today.

Agree2 Disagree0

Erding and erdinic are the same person, are they not?

Agree1 Disagree0

Erding is his name in english but the tirkish way to spell it is erdinc

Agree1 Disagree0

Looks like the mighty mackems are going to pinch erding from under your noses as weve offered him more wages also bellemy on his way to s.o.l maybe forlan depends on wages source coach at club

You havent had a bid put in let alone accepted for erdinc so how have you offerd more wages? You can only speak to a player once club accepts your bid

Who would want bellamy anyway

I was reading a post from Newcastle fans last week saying how good he was at Newcastle, although you hate him now.

cabaye was brilliant against fiorentina, he kept the ball, didnt lose it, passed very well, won the ball back, him and tiote next season will be brilliant.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I heard he looked very confident as was moving the ball around really well.

Agree1 Disagree2

Cabaye alone won?Ǭ¥t keep us away from relegation...We need someone in front of him two put the ball in the net. We cannot put our faith in Ba alone, and the other strikers we have is just dead meat. I would say we need two quality strikers added or we will face very big problems this season.

Agree3 Disagree0

At least 1 NEEDS to come in Cabaye does look like he will be a cracking signing tho Likes to pass and move and his passing is really precise and has good vision too

07 Aug 2011 09:35:45
To help Mick Martin and a host of others who c MA ask "what is MA plan for NUFC".
Clearly he has no plan to go for high priced ,high wage earners. He leaves that to Shieks,Russians& and Americans who may well of over spent in the turbulent financial world. Clearly he has spotted that NUFC have tried that route and been unsuccessful for 50 years and is rebuilding NUFC with young, talented progressive players to see if we can finally end the drought. The disposal of KN underlines the plan, plus the type of signings made, coupled withthe upgrading the training facilities to back up a modern approach to fitness and tactics.Since actions speak louder than words what more could you be told that would help you understand where NUFC is headed. If you still can't grasp the plan r or see the merits in it I think you should consider transferring your support to SAFC who are following our old unsuccessful plan.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Ashley may not want to "throw good money after bad" but it carries a very high risk if we want to stay in the Prem. Fact.

Agree2 Disagree0

I would love to see a youth system which can excel and produce future stars but the fact is that it takes time. We need to spend a bit of money now to strengthen (obvious we need at least 1 more striker) otherwise will could struggle if injuries and suspensions hit us, then in time, bring through any emerging talent. But still need to spend some in this window.
Psycho

Agree0 Disagree0

Why did a young lad who lives in Cramlington and his dad is a life long Newcastle supporter sign for Sunderland boys?

Agree0 Disagree1

So his son can earn more money?

Agree0 Disagree1

Why did he not go sign for wallsend boys club first or maybe our scout did not fancy him...i,n a nufc fann all the way but if my only chance was to sign for safc and maybe a pro carreer then YES I WOULD SIGN FOR THEM...my dad uncle is a makem through and through joe harvey watched him tries to sign him and he refused as he hated us the toon..do you agree ed042

{Ed042's Note - With which part? playing for safc if it was my only chance at a pro career? obviously if a prem club wanted you then it wouldnt be your only option ha but personally mate I wouldnt play for safc if given the chance to, call it a stupid level of loyalty but would rather play in a lower league than play for the other side, id gladly play for the toon for free if they asked me ha.. pards? mike? you about? honestly ill play for free, ill wear an apron and be the tea lady if it means being at the club ha}

Agree0 Disagree1

In all honesty, I turned down a trial at Boro at the age of 16. Couldn't even face the prospect of playing for them, never mind the Mackems.

BUT STEVE DAVIS would be great for newcastle very skillful player and knows how to pass a ball could sit and direct the play or he can also play in a attacking midfield roll

Believable4 Unbelievable0

We dont do over 30 think she better go down the road thats there transfer policy.....stadium of light getting re-named to alex fergusons retirement home

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah true, shes around the 75 mark so she could be confident that Brucie would give her at least a 5 year deal at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least we will still be in the premier next season byebye

Agree2 Disagree0

We sure will mate, I agree. Our squad actually looks pretty good mate despite losing Nolan. Those Mackems will be off down to the Championship though, don't you agree?

Agree1 Disagree0

AS shown with the mighty hibs yesterday i honestly do think SAFC will struggle and that these 9 players that have come in will mostly disappoint NUFC will take back their rightfull crown in the north east

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah the mighty leeds looked awesome too

Agree0 Disagree0

You have lost a lot more than Nolan, and more to leave. You have a weaker squad already, than last season, with very poor expectations of who is coming in. Keep your spirits up by all means but the reality is that things are pretty grim at Newcastle at the moment.
I meant Grimm ( sorry ).

Agree0 Disagree0

How have we lost a lot more than Nolan? You don't know the mentality of the dressing room right now.

Just reading the paper. Stan Collymore, the know it all of football has given his verdict of the coming season:
Newcastle to finish 18th. Not convinced of Ba as a marquee striker who can be relied on. Lack of investment and the loss of Nolan to be killer blow.
But if Barton stays we can swap places with Blackburn (17th). Wigan at 16th,Norwich 15th, Wolves 14th....Bottom 3 of Swans 20th,QPR 19th and us for relegation. Sunderland - 9th.

I read his verdict on his beloved Villa (8th), 'Bringing in McLeish was an inspired decision.' Stands for no nonesense and gets players playing well'. Really Stan? Relegation last season with Brum? Did they play well? I dont think we need to take any notice of this nonsense and believe we will suprise a few people, especially if we get a decent striker in
Psycho

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Not just S.C. writing Newcastle off, Chris Waddle too.
Terms like:
Circus.
Farcical.
Heart ripped out at Nolan going.
Clowns.
Many more.
Barton, Enrique, Collo linked with moves and now Simpson stalling on contract .
talks.
I think 18th is a bit ambitious.

Agree1 Disagree1

Stan Collymore is a mug. I remember last season he lost his s**t on Twitter cause people were calling him a coke head.

Agree0 Disagree0

They all wrote us off last year...experts.. ha..some of them even said we'd get relegated the year before that..easy money for gob- sh*tes to sell there papers... just pick on the club having a bad week with most fanatical fans....very lazy dont know what paper he writes in and don't really want to know

Agree0 Disagree0

And Terry Butcher writing us over hes a Wa*nK*r neva take a cb opinoin nows nuffin (WelshToon)

Agree0 Disagree0

Well waddle is a mackem anyway he is from pelaw but he actually supports sunderland so no wonder he is writing us off

Agree0 Disagree0

Why cant you just accept it youre gonna struggle all these ex players cant be wrong in fact 18th aint too bad

Agree2 Disagree0

Ill say it once again the only person of note that we have lost since the end of last season is Nolan (and he was rubbish today) but we have Cabaye marveaux Denba Ba Ben-arfa back Gosling Vidik and a couple more good youngsters for back up why should we finish further down than last season, if Jose goes its not the end of the world. Ps would love to see two decent (half decent)strikers

Agree2 Disagree1

Waddlw a geordie and always will be but truth be known the mans a half brain and as for colly well that lad didnt know what he had cos he was so dim Yet people listen to him? Only mackems i add

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortuneately for you, most of the contry read The people. Including a lot of football players who it might put off going to Newcastle even further.

What do you guys think about the Obertan deal? Not sure my self, he has looked good for United in the preseason though, and not that expensive either.

Then again its yet another midfielder, and we aren't exactly short of them even if Barton goes, and still not the striker we should be focusing on.

He always showed he had potential at United though but he seems a bit injury-prone. Seems to lack end product as well.

Been checking out some formations being touted around. What about these,? Solid back 4.... Krul, Simpson, colo, s Taylor, Enrique. Then depending on t game have a f*** around with these... 1 or 2 holding midfielders, choices : tiote ( always ) pairs with maybe cabaye/gosling/Barton. Centre mid : cabaye, Barton, gosling, Ben arfa, obertan, marvauex. Right side: Barton, obertan, ben arfa, jonas, marvauex. Left side: obertan, marveux, jonas. Att: Ba, shola, sammy, lovenkrands. This is not including the possibility of maybe shane long up front and our youth ie : ferguson, vuckic especially. For me personally we look pretty f***ing strong as a fast attacking club with alot of options if things don't work initially during a game. Let's stop all the worry and get behind the toon n we can shock t s**t outta the prem Howay the toon... Bring it the f*** on

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I can't see how people are saying we are so much weaker. We've brought in decent players for little money, and lost one so far..

Sure Nolan was very influential and scored goals, but Ba proved in 12 games last season that given the service, he can score goals.

If Barton goes he will be missed in a way, again for his influence [which has become pretty negative as of late] but also his crossing was pinpoint for the most part last season. Then again I'm sure someone else can step up.

Jose will be the biggest loss if he ends up leaving since we are already weak at LB and aren't making a great deal of progress in looking for replacements.

We have a good looking squad and from what I hear were looking good last night until it got called off...
