Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

IMO this is what pardew should do with ben arfa, its a win win situation:
Give him till January for him to play in his proper role of right winger, if he does play well, he can sign a new contract, if it doesn't work out then we can get a couple million in the january transfer window.

Hope its true that we agreed a fee for lacazette

Huddesfield just proved once again how poor we are at the middle of our defence. let's face it, Williamson/Taylor and Colo are absolute pants. In my opinion, Lescott, Hangeland and John Terry would have been the perfect foil to bring Mbwia on this season. Terry signed a 1 yr deal at Chelsea on, so has been said, 60k a week. Why not offer him 3yrs on that money? Because he is 32? Best centre half in the premier league by miles, leader, puts a foot in, and scores goals. Mentions of Vllar from Villa? Why? Because of 1 good game at world cup? Last season he was rubbish in premier league. We will ship loads of goals this season with our stance on not signing anyone over 24. Quality ctr backs are the older, wiser ones.

Give it a few weeks it's possible a striker and CB will be signed If Shout as loud as you like because yes we will be cannon fodder

Agree0 Disagree0

100% agree, Terry is exactly the type of character we need in defence. I think when it comes to CB we have to sign experienced players, we missed an opportunity with the players off contract this season.

Hi Guys and Gals.
I come in peace lol. .
Just wondering what you all think of Nile Ranger, if we can ignore his attitude etc. is he any good?
Remember seeing him at Newcastle and didn't seem too special.
any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can't ignore his attitude. Just look at Ravel Morrison. All the promise in the world but seemingly willing to throw it away.
Ranger will bring shame to your club. simples.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was one of the most disrespectful players i've ever seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great let's hope he stays at home then. Thanks and good luck for the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does anyone know what the situation is with Tiote?

I know a few people on here have already stated that we should try playing the 352 formation that seems to be becoming more popular. I would agree to a certain extent; however I am not confident that our management would be able to "set this system up" effectively. Currently Man U have Jones, Smalling and Evans who are not exactly world class defenders, yet LVG will be able to get them working together like he did with the Dutch team. I think on paper a 352 formation for Newcastle would work well, if we had a manager who knows about implementing such a system. Playing one striker up front seems to be dying out, time to change? Or stick with the 4231?

My set up would be

GK: Krul

CB:MYM, Willimson, Collo

Wingbacks: Janmaat, Stanton

Midfield: Sissoko, Tiote and Dejong (in the number 10 role)

Forwards: Cabella (playing a Role like Robbin in the world cup) and Riviere (who has been quite impressive so far)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Na Hadiera at LB until Santon is OK
Tiote DMF
Sissoko DJ Riviera Cabella Colback

Then a good selection of subs

Agree0 Disagree0

Rivière in centre mid vida? You're almost as bad as pardew!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry look again or put glasses on
He is a Striker no more no less

Agree0 Disagree0

That would just end up as 5 3 2

Am I the only one who is worried that pardew will start Steven Taylor alongside Collo?

City will have a field day if he does.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And most other teams. I think the penny has dropped & we may see a CB coming in BUT the irony of them not giving this some priority shows despite some good players signed Pardews commitment to please Ashley is and always will be a joke

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously worried if STaylor plays at all. I would have got rid years ago. Injury ridden and no sense of position when he comes back. As for the pundits with their "Hes great for the dressing room" line, I would rather have a defender that plays consistently than one who has a season ticket for the medical centre. Would have got rid years ago. As for Collo - past his best, and are we going to see the problems at home come back like the last 2 seasons again. Another one that I would have released. MYM and Williamson are my CB pair at the moment - I gave Williamson a fair amount of stick over the years but he's found a consistent form over the last couple of seasons. Being positive, like the positivity of Aarons and Riviere, Cabella looks to be a sharp minded player and De Jong already has shown what he can do. Bee impressed with Gouffran and Obertan too. (I know I'm going to get pelters for that one, but he has looked effective in the pre season games) Colbeck I'm not sure about - he has an atrocious pass from what little I've seen and I don't see him as a beast in defence like Tiote. Should be an interesting season ahead!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cacking it, although I was chatting to a Man city fan today and he doesn't see it as an easy game.
I would go with willi, collo and MYM. I read some interesting stats someone had posted in the chron which highlighted Williamson as our lynchpin defender. I'd make him captain as he seems to relish a challenge and has been admirable in his defiance of the boo boys. He also seems to be able to organise a defence as both collo and MYM have their most clean sheets when partnering collo. Saylor is a waste of space. With Jaanmat, santon, Haidara and now raylor back we could really pose an attacking threat playing 5 3 1 1 and shore up the back at the same time.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as we might wish to slate you for the obertan comment anyone who has watched preseason will be unable to. you have to give credit where it is due. maybe. Just maybe the penny has finally dropped with him. whether he its because he is looking for a move away so needs to perform or he has just found some form I don't know but that pace will always be useful and for the first time there seems to be some sort of end product. whether he can take this into the season I don't know but he even wants seems to want to take defenders on. get them stopped then use his pace rather than just head down and run. quite similar to what Aarons was doing the other night. slow the defenders down then turn and go. good to see and gives another option late in games to bring them both on just to use the pace against tiring legs. still not all to convinced about Colback either. puts a good shift in but so did Jonas. very little quality. reminds me of walters at stoke, milner etc hard working but not all that convincing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obertan is pants in the Premiership all defenders know exactly what he is going to do and problem is he can't change

Agree0 Disagree0

Vida, when was the last time you wrote anything that was remotely up beat? is there nothing about Newcastle that you actually feel good about? or can see anything slightly positive in as a fan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Vida I take it back. I have just read a comment that is almost bordering on positive from you lol. only messing round anyway. like to think I take all comments on board on there merit. don't disagree with anything people put on here to be fair. everyone has a view and opinion which makes for good reading. just like seeing a little support for the team too. call me old fashioned but I still think even as bad as we have been at times that maybe this season is the one it starts to go right. i'm a dreamer I know. I live in stoke for crying out loud I have to have dreams hehe.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see no reason not to b optimistic, lots of quality new players, cashley seems ready to spend - at the end if last season I was worried we would be able to attract any decent quality and pardew has proved in the past that he can steer a team to a good finish! Agree we need a cb and a proven goal scorer would be welcome, but we are a lot better off than we were in May

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see some optimism norwichtoon

Stuart Pearce has been mentioned as a possible manager if Pardew has a duff season. His pedigree in developing youth as well as his previous experience as a player are seen as major pluses. He seems to have a worse record than Pardew at club level so I'm not sure he is what we should be after.
