Is it just me or does Bigi already seem like twice the player Anita is? I'd have him starting on Thur without a doubt
Bigi is good for his age, but I worry about his lack of height.
I am worried we have a Jay Spearing on our hands.
I'd say height was not the main asset for the type of footie I want to see us play. Skill, commitment, heart, energy, timing, bite in the tackle and passing ability are all more important in central midfield than height. Bremner Giles Batty Tiote Fabregas Messi (and a hundred others) are not exactly giants
What does height matter? Because being small has restricted players like Mata, Silva, Ageuro, Cazorla from being able to play in the Premiership hasn't it.
Only thing that matters is that they can play football whether they're five foot or six foot five.
And messi
Comparing Bigi to Silva, Ageuro, Cazorla & Messi?
Are you being serious? LOL
We are talking about a defensive midfielder here, who needs to chase the ball down and get in challenges.
You can give examples all day of a few short players who had made it, but you will find those are normally attacking players, and are exceptional players who had to be brilliant to play at the top.
I cannot think of many short defensive midfielders that made it, Gattuso (who is still taller that Bigi) and a few others maybe, but in football they are rare as hens teeth.
Bigi is 5ft9. That is 2 inches shorter that tiote, you may not think that matters but those 2 inches can make a huge difference when you are trying to stretch your leg out for a challenge, It means Bigi has a lower center of gravity.
Anyways I have always liked him and want the best for him, but I have my doubts.
Anita is a great player and at the moment he is much better then Bigi and really deserves more playing time then he gets. You are way wrong here.
I never compared Bigi to Silva, Ageuro or Cazorla I was just pointing out that being small means nothing in today's game.
Also Bigi never came to be like Tiote people just decided to compare them, Tiotes game is all about making tackles and blocks whereas Bigi is more of a passing player that uses his pace and energy to put pressure on players.
Also Mascherano isn't very big and he's a CDM and a CB and Makelele was tiny yet one the best.
