PSV have confirmed the transfer of youngster Georginio Wijnaldum from Feyenoord for a fee believed to be in the region of 5 million (£4.5m)... a reported target a while back i hope we are in for someone better but seems to be wishful thinking at this point. Surely a player with a high resale value down the line

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I'm suprised by that figure thought he would be worth atleast around £10 million then again he ain't English.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thats why teams buy from abroad Young english players cost the earth and have proved not to be top class when it comes to being compared withe best youngsters in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

Except wickham who will prove to be a steal

Agree2 Disagree5

Hopefully cos he is english and always want england to have top class players for internationals which if thats the case you will lose him anyway But doubt it or he would have been at a big club already

pardew has said on a radio station that the money will stay in the club, but at least one more striker will be bought slog with a left sided player. him and mile Ashley said when judas was sold that the whole £35m will be spent. now were not gonna spend more than a third of it, tight greedy cockney git.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Also said with wages and signing on fees it would get us 4-5 players in the 4-5 million bracket

Agree1 Disagree0

The 35 mill was to be reinvestedthis doesn't mean transfer fees only, it will be spent on wages, academy etc.the club is now being run as a business and not throwing money around on players who just want a big pay day

Agree1 Disagree1

Wasnt put in them terms, more so said that the whole 35mil would be ""invested" back into the club, which means anything from transfers to training ground and facility improvements, new pitch being laid, etc.. which is all happening at the mo... of course we d all love to see the 35mil spent on players, but why do a Liverpool on it and spend crazy money on players that arnt worth the cash just to secure the signing.. actually think there is a surprise, decent money signing to come, but all 35mil wont be spent now, no chance, say some may even be kept for January as a safety net if we are either struggling, or have a lot of injuries and need players.. which is realistically the smart thing to do.. squad there at the moment isnt half bad when you look at it

It says it all when most fans don't believe a word there manager says every time he gets interviewed or has a press confrence it sounds like he's been told what to say.

Only read up on this now, have thought it many a time before but didnt realize how crazy the figures were....

Since 2007 when Ashley bought the club we have made a net profit of over 40 million on players coming in and out

Just taking the players we currently have in the squad since Ashleys arrival, heres what they cost....

Barton - 5.8m.... Smith - 6m.... Enrique - 6.5m.... R.Taylor - Free.... Lovenkrands - Free.... Xisco - 5.7m.... Coloccini - 10.3m.... Guthrie - 2.5m.... Gutierrez - 7m.... Williamson - 1m.... Simpson - 500K.... Ben Arfa - 5.75m.... Tiote - 3.5m.... Gosling - Free.... Perch - 1m.... Marveaux - Free.... Abeid - Free.... Cabaye - 4.5m.... Ba - Free

SUBTOTAL - 60 Million

Add to that...

Nolan - 4m.... Which we got back for him basically, so disclude it from the sales below

Heres what we ve made in sales....

Dyer - 6m.... Luque - 2m.... Rozenhal - 3m.... NZogbia - 6m.... Given - 8m.... Milner - 12m.... Faye - 2m.... Emre - 4m.... Duff - 4m.... Beye - 2m.... Martins - 9m.... Bassong - 10m.... Carroll - 35m

SUBTOTAL - 103 Million

When you take the four seasons before Ashley, we have a net loss of nearly 35 Million... compared to a net gain since Ashley of 43 odd million.... That is some turnaround for a club that used to be notorious for wasting money

Now look, I dont like Ashley same as the next man, but thought i d put this up just as a reality check for people who forget what he is.. a Businessman, and a very successful one, who is worth over 700 million aside from Newcastle... As much as hes made some bad Footballing decisions, think the Keegan return, relegation and reaction o the fans did act as learning curve for him Football-wise... but business wise you really cant complain... he has invested a hell of a lot of his own money into the club, clearing debts, improving facilities and frankly, some smart business, especially since relegation and especially as of late in the transfer market... credit where credit is due... think people need to have a bit more faith in his commitment to the club and the improvement of it.... even if his plan was to sell it, for arguments sake, as a good businessman who has invested a serious amount of cash which makes selling the club at its current price a huge loss to him personally, I think like any good businessman he realises he has to speculate to accumulate, and make the club on and off the pitch a very attractive and valuable asset, to keep or to sell.... just dont understand supporters that think hes trying to ruin the club and bleed it dry, doesnt make any sense when you actually look at the financial side of things

Fair enough we d all love to see the Carroll money spent, and the argument will be most of the transfer profit is from his sale last year, but even without that hes still in the black, and we re no worse off as a team or club, in fact, we re better off on and off the pitch... I dont like the man personally, or some of his decisions in the past, but cant deny he is much better for the club than Shepperd ever was, was truly a money draining, soap opera, laughing stock of a club back then... who cares if he doesnt talk to the press or let us know whats going on with every little detail, every day... would you if you were going to be shot down regardless?... besides, that is how all the good clubs are run... look at Man Utd as the prime example, built on a closed door policy

Anyway, rant over, some food for thought... just thought the figures might interest some of you instead of the constant pie in the sky player rumours and mackems making up stuff...

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Im one fan who didnt think of it like that. thanks

Agree2 Disagree0

Could not agree more, all the pl clubs that are spending vast amounts are going to want to recoup the money one day(liverpool springs to mind), lets not forget every owner is a businessman and wants to make a profit

Agree1 Disagree1

At some point liverpool owners will want to leave and will leave the club in massive debt.

Agree2 Disagree0

Well said. It annoys me that there are so many fans that are short sighted in what the club is doing. I put this down to the 'credit card' generation, who think as soon as they have some cash they need to spend it on a new TV etc. If they don't have the money, they still buy it on credit. It isn't until they realise that they can't afford the repayments that they complain, or beg for help. They have no foresight, or ability to plan.
Our club is in far better shape than it was 5 years ago. I would prefer to be where we are than where Liverpool are. Sustainable vs Gambling big time, and probably failing = massive debt, administration.
Col {Ed001's Note - why are you comparing Newcastle with Liverpool? Liverpool are in an excellent position, which just needs the stadium issue sorted. Newcastle are on a sound financial footing, but do still have a slight debt issue outstanding to Ashley himself. Similar to Chelsea. What Ashley is doing now is to remove that debt issue gradually, then, even if something were to happen to him, the club would be safe. Both clubs should have a very good financial future ahead of them.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Your gains and losses are speculation in certain areas. as for his profit. he gained 40+ million. he had carroll who was trained up before he got here and started to shine. he got us relegated which cost 40m in rights. appointed kinear who lost n'zog. did you forgot the squad he brought with him. i.e. wise who signed players via a youtube video?

Ashley belongs in the retail sector of business. not the footballing sector. if you look at his in's and out's and pick which team would win. the team in or the team out. i bet you its the team out. everytime.

Agree0 Disagree0

We got a 35 million pound offer for Carroll, whether he wanted to leave or they wanted him out is circumstancial, anybody who wouldnt accept that offer in our position would be an idiot...

2, Kinnear didnt lose nZogbia, he wanted to leave before Kinnear, and was for the two seasons before a left winger or in the hole player being played at left back.

3, he as in Ashley didnt get us relegated, the accumulation of years of bad business, bad press and bad players on and off the field got us relegated.. we deserved to go down, it was coming, taught us a lesson, and got rid of a lot of high earning useless players with no love or desire for the club out... the very players and team you claim are better, football isnt played on reputations and names on paper unfortunately, if it was we would have been title contending in some seasons... sadly we had a squad full of injury prone big names, getting paid big money and giving 50% effort... before that we had a squad full of thugs and mouths that showed no respect for the club or any manager... thats the reality

4, If you read what I said as regards Ashley actually making mistakes, namely the decisions made around Keegans appointment, including Dennis Wise, I think it was genuinely bad footballing decisions, and a learning curve for him, and admittedly may have contributed slightly to the relegation season itself, but to be honest, I think we would have gone down regardless, and if not, we should have, it needed to happen.

The club is no doubt better off now that then on and off the pitch

7 million lol Ashley will have a cardiac

Believable2 Unbelievable1

You got something on i see Still twisting then?

Agree0 Disagree1

I'll have a heart attack if he spends that much haha

We will not sign anybody untill we sell enrique, there looking at a price war between arsenal and liverpool, one possibility is Reo Coka on a free.

There are a number of players in Ligue 1 who might be available this summer that would represent good value for EPL sides but have not been linked with moves across the channel yet. Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez will leave the club this summer, despite being their player of the year in 2009-2010, but the Argentine is not attracting any interest from England. Instead he looks set to join Jeremy Toulalan at Malaga possibly explaining the lack of Premier League suitors. Another possible new face could be Miralem Pjanic of Lyon, a tremendously gifted Bosnian creative midfielder who could find himself sacrificed as Lyon look to rebuild after a disappointing season.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Seen pjanic play a few times and the guy as skills but like you said gotta wonder why no one having a look Could be high wages or signing on fees or just plain they dont fancy the move Pjanic looks like he would be a hit and plays a bit like modric

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't think it's because no one wants them it's because Malaga are minted now and are throwing silly money about.

Agree1 Disagree0

I've also seen pjanic play, and I'm quite suprised he's not playing for a better team than lyon. He's the french leagues equivalent to schweinsteiger (sorry love the name).

1 out of Barton and Jonas could be away, so winger will be needed, Jermaine Lens or Charles N'Zogbia, maybe even both if Barton and Jonas leave. Alot of rumours about the forward, Defoe or Erding favourites to be it.

Not defoe lyk no way

Forest fan in peace, on about this...

02 Jul 2011 18:20:33
Wayne Routledge will return for training tomorrow, before leaving to join Nottingham Forest on a 3 year deal worth around £1.4 Million.

*

I don't think he is going to us. Why? Dexter Blackstock tweeted about an hour ago 'Its always emotional speaking with @WayneRoutledge. #lowpoint', which makes me think that Wayne has told Dexter that he's staying at you, or going to Leicester, and won't be joining Forest.

Finally, Wayne Routledge has tweeted 'Time to head north #mission

www.lockerz.com/s/116659865

the picture is a SatNav and the route is 282 miles, when London to Newcastle is 284 miles roughly. And just fifteen minutes ago, '#madeitback

Conclusion: Routledge is staying at Newcastle.
