Just a mention for young santon, looked the part tonight against two quality wingers on one side, nani and velencia. Looks like another shrewd piece of transfer business by the club. Keep up the good work Carr n co.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Agree, he looked awesome... Pace, passing ability, confident going forward.. Looking good... Just hope room sign up colo quick....

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah, totally agree that santon was one of our best players tonight. Unsung hero in my opinion.

DomW

Agree1 Disagree0

Colo, a rock again tonight, 80k worth....? we'll see how high our ambitions are, a 29 year old on a new contract? (personally i would for the next 2/3 seasons, doesn't really have or need electric pace, positioning is excellent, so can't see him ageing too drastically!)

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah santon is a legend, can see why he is rated so highly in Italy! class player, real quality. They say he may play in the middle when Tiote is at the AN. looks the part.

Nice to see the bbc giving us air time, a whole 8 mins... I bet if we'd lost 3-0 it'd be on for 30mins

To all the mackems posted on here about a great win 4-1 against Wigan, try 3-0 against man u

Believable5 Unbelievable1

3-0 against a shocking man u whereas we had a 48hr break and smashed an in-form wigan away after beating the truly in form league leaders. Ah not to mention we have Martin o'neill ;)

Agree0 Disagree3

Aye and they bangin on about their brilliant free kick , well Cabayes put that into perspective lol.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ha ha. Great quote you smb, 'an in form wigan'. That's really hilarious comparing an in form Wigan to man u, whichever team they put out!

Agree6 Disagree0

"in form Wigan" god that's the funniest thing I've heard so far this year.

Agree6 Disagree0

What, beating a b team man city with an outside goal whereas we beat Man Utd with one of there most attack minded sides they have available. Hush you clown

Agree3 Disagree0

Man u are hardly 'in form' after getting pumped off blackburn at home. Remind me who wigan have recently took points off? Man u are a shambles at the minute so get over it! Come back when you haven't been beaten 3-1 off the league leaders. SGBS!

Agree0 Disagree3

This won't likely be popular to say (but i may be high from the 3-0 win tonight). lets just let the bickering go for one week... the North east smashed mighty Manchester twice in a few days.... well done to all!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

We still beat you lot no problem, and are 9 points clear of you. End of chat. Ryan Taylor over the wall!

Agree4 Disagree1

Come back when you beat us 5-1 or actually beat us.. U still have to go to city, see how u do then

Agree1 Disagree2

Also a B team man city? Hart, Zabaleta, Lescott, Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko, De Jong, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Adam Johnson, James Milner, Micah Richards to name but a few. Hmm, what a weak b team eh? Ho ho ho

Agree2 Disagree1

The difference is you Mackems were more than lucky to beat City, more than. We swept aside United with ease last night so don't get ahead of yourselves. You got beat off United at Old Trafford, we drew lets see what you do when they come to you! I guarantee it won't be 3-0 !

Agree5 Disagree2

For a start bruce was our manager at the old trafford game and also we were more than lucky? How? A solid defensive display and caught them on the break. Get a life you sgbs

Agree2 Disagree5

Also we won at qpr whilst you drew and had a home draw against west brom whilst they smashed you so you can't compare teams like that.

Agree2 Disagree1

Not to mention only lost 1-2 to chelsea at home, drew with liverpool away 1-1, you lost 0-3 at home and then lost 3-1 at liverpool, wigan drew with liverpool and chelsea and they beat west brom away, those 3 teams all put 3 past you, Man utd were very poor, you lot played well but that 3rd goal was lucky, doesn't matter we will still be top dogs in may, no Ba=no goals, shola gonna keep up the form no!

Agree2 Disagree4

That's it you smb, keep comparing results. FACT is we are 9 points clear of you, and your suppose to be having a great run while we are supposedly struggling.
Always in the toon shadow, ever seen a mackem in Milan? Nah didn't think so!

Agree4 Disagree2

Crikey you beat 3 of the bottom 4 teams- 2 of which were lucky then you beat Man City by a flukey offside goal.
you compare results but what about everton(@H) wolves (@A) wigan (@H) (ManU@A) Fulham (@H) oh and a very important Newcastle at the Stadium of S***e

Agree2 Disagree2

Mackem in milan? When was the last time you lot were there? Bet a few passports have expired since then ladies! Oh btw...sports direct arena :)

Agree2 Disagree2

Oh btw... March 3rd DEMBA BA is coming for yous. SMB

Agree3 Disagree2

I just dont understand these mackems. We battered them last season, we have beat them this season and are 9 points above them. If it had been the other way round id be keeping my head down.

Agree2 Disagree2

And we been top dogs 3 seasons on the bounce, thats the main aim to finish above each other. keep telling you lot that but obviously arrogance takes over and you got your heads in the clouds again. SGBS

take it all back, howay the lads.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Congradulations newcastle-absolute momentus occassion, never been so proud of the toon army! Roll on Europe next season!

Agree2 Disagree0

Europe haha no chance, one result and you think your gonna win the league again, you played well but man utd were crap 2nite, see how blackburn beat them now. just wait till may when we finish as top dogs 4 seasons running. Gonna miss Ba for upto 6 weeks, who scores the goals now?

Agree0 Disagree1

No one except SMB mention us winning league... Did you not see cabaye score... Got more than bedtnar

Agree3 Disagree0

Get yourself educated little boy ,they put out a much weaker team against blackburn and outplayed them but got hit on the counter. Strong side against us yet totally outplayed .Bit better than beating lowly Wigan i think .

Agree2 Disagree0

Haha jog on mate. Your mob sounded exactly the same after the city game. One win and you think you'll finish above us. Once oneill has ran out of luck you'll be back down where you belong. Now shut yer gob and toddle off to the smb chalkboards.

Agree3 Disagree0

Cabaye ,Best .

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm glad i'm a newcastle fan, mackems make me smile, whether it be their rose-tinted view of football, their horrible patter or their reaction to a few good results, they make me smile all the same, content newcastle fan...

Agree3 Disagree0

Newcastle fan? So it'll be Pardew out by next week then?

Agree0 Disagree2

No ba, no tiote for upto 6weeks, they were your best players lastnight, you got a win against bolton and suddenly you gonna be in europe, you beat a man utd side who were very poor and have nothing on city and you think you gonna be europe and champs league again. no chance, pardew out chants next week and when the transfer window shuts it will be agent ashley get out our club coz we still don't have a good striker in to replace ba.FICKLE FANS!

Agree0 Disagree3

Fickle fans is the smb's all over! Soon as results don't go your way the library of light will be half empty again! We got bigger crowds in the championship than u lot! That's called true support!

Agree3 Disagree1

Tiote was no way a 'best' player, Cabaye played carrick and giggs off the field by himself, Colo was far to smart for Rooney (not all that hard) but pards has great tactical awareness.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's not fickle, it's fact. We know Cashley screws us out of signings, but it's called smart business, we will be one of the few clubs in the Black.

Agree2 Disagree0

The Mackems couldnt even fill their stadium against City. Quinn is gonna have to start going round the pubs in Sunderland begging the fans to turn up again

Agree1 Disagree0

Smart business your owner screwing you out of signings? think about that one again.haha SGB

Agree0 Disagree0

When's the last time your lot made 35m on a player then. Good deal ,end of.

Agree1 Disagree0

And what happened to that 35m you were supposed to be spending? or even better when was the last time you spent over 10m on a player

Agree0 Disagree0

Demba ba cabaye? Heard of them? It's not how much you spend it's who you spend it on! How much did you pay for wickham? How many goals? Now compare him to demba? I rest my case

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 21:55:47
worst man utd performance ive seen for years ! they will be lucky if they finish in top 4 never mind win the prem!!!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Hang on... Toon stopped em by being physical and mixing the play between long n short.. Demba Ba turning into sir les.. Absolute brilliant... Fingers cross he comes back ok....

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 21:52:36
I will eat crow, i was on here bashing the tactics... but route one seemed to work pretty well ;) on top of that back line was just great, but our midfield was a class above, just magnificent... sad to see Tiote and Ba gone for a month :(

Believable4 Unbelievable0

04 Jan 2012 21:40:12
if we lose now, perch better pack his bags and get out of toon quick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I still reckon he should go. The moment I saw his number come up on the board, I honestly thought man utd could get at least a draw.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 19:35:15
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! just saw the starting 11, no Ben Arfa.....WTF!!! i am sick of this crap.... oh wait i know the plan... wait until the 70 minute when we've been banging our heads agains the door and are effectively out of the game and then bring him on... brilliant. Comwe on lads prove me wrong and someone slam a ball off AP's head, i think he is stuck on a one track mind.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Still think the same?

Agree1 Disagree0

Not a bad one track mind by pardew!

Agree0 Disagree0

You're the type of numb skull who gives us toon fans a bad name, bet you were calling for him to come on against liverpool too, 'pick your battles' 'horses for courses' 2 phrases that come to mind in the premier league, remember we are not a spurs or city who can accomodate a van der vaart or a silva/nasri! ben arfa is a brilliant player but sometimes the potential for that little bit of magic can be a detriment to the team!

Agree1 Disagree0

Easy to slag someone else's comments after a victory, try doing it before a match..

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jan 2012 18:14:48
Ba is class no doubt, but one of the reasons he is the only one scoring is down to tactics. If we continue to play a direct brand of football he will remain our only threat. Cabaye and others have no time to get on the ball in front of goal because when its knocked up the field one of two thing happen.. Ba gets a good chance or its coming straight back on us. Some more ball movement and build up play would allow our midfield to get up field and be involved in the offence. If injuries weren't an issue i could only imagine we'd be playing the likes of Ba, Ben Arfa, Jones, Marveaux, Caybaye and Tiote together... with the exception of Ba does this look like a line up that wants to play the ball in the air? If that is the future (if) why not instil this style in the new and young players now.. ie sammy, Abied and vuckic. Or is AP still wishishing he had Barton and Carroll??

Anyone more optimistic than 0 - 1 ?

Get your shirt on a home win this evening. It's nailed on and the odds are fantastic.
Man Utd aren't the force they used to be and it's windy and cold and they hate playing at SJP.
Home win at 3-2 for 40/1 !

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Wanna bet?

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviosly a Mackem.wanting to bankrupt all Newcastle fans. More chance of a real hiding with the backlash. Cant wait.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only people who are windy are you, you deluded SGBs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt Man United are going to score three own goals.

Agree0 Disagree2

Haha your new shirt with virgin money on looks sh*te! Sports Direct Arena and now this haha

Agree0 Disagree2

Had Ba 3-1 @. 125/1... Bloody defence let me down again h

Agree0 Disagree0

F*** me, I hope someone took you up on that bet mate.

I cant imagine Branson wanting to be associated with a downward spiralling club so I am holding out hope for some quality reinforcements this month.
As we were so close to signing Pieters in the summer will that deal not be back on? What about Cissokho who we were linked with as well?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Pieters is crocked ,broken foot ,don't want us buying another player who's had bad injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Positive toon fan....

Usually this site is full of rumour (good and bad) but are we all resigned to the fact that we will sign nobody of signifigance? Hopefully it is a sign that the club will pull a rabbit or two out of the hat
like they did with Tiote/Cabaye, then again perhaps I will win £60m in the Euromillions on Friday which is probably much more likely.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I am not sure why AP continues to subscribe to a overly direct form of football? I am sure we have the players to play (and prefer, as per Ben Arfa interview) a more fluid passing game. Cabaye, Benny, Jonas and even Ba who can pay with the ball in his feet (he's no Any Carroll), would be better suited to playing the ball on the ground,no? I understand it worked with Best and Ba in the side as there was no link up player, but news flash AP we have one so play him! which brings me to Ben Afra's comments, I normally don't like when players speak out on matters that are better kept in the dressing room, however I 100% agree with what he has said. Our only win recently has come on the back of an Ben Arfa goal, and our number 10 is a better option than most guys getting a start. But AP plays a 19 year old that looked lost at Liverpool ahead of him, i'd be frustrated too. Its one thing to leave the side unchanged when we were winning week in and week out, but I can't get my head around why Ben continues to be over looked? I can only assume AP doesn't rate him or know how to use him? Please let the kid play and show what (if) he can do!!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

HBA needs to play its as simple as that, but I reckon he will play Shola with Ba to try and exploit a weak centre half pairing like he did at QPR with such fantastic success!! Football logic tell syou we need to keep the ball better and have someone who can pick a pass, HBA and Ba were starting to play well together creating good chances against Utd and City and then he goes and changes it all, I dont understand AP sometimes.

Agree1 Disagree0

I have been a supporter of AP's from the start and still am.... however if he continues to ignore Ben Arfa and continues to play 19 and 20 year olds ahead of him, my opinion will begin to turn. I Agree there are some good looking players coming up, but we need class now not just glimpses of the future.... and quick question where is Gosling, has he been put out in the cold?

Agree0 Disagree0

What is he going to do when Ba leaves?? just play Sammy and Best, that will strike fear into CBs all over the league. Get the guy in the side already!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I assume Gosling is learning that if you get yorur chance and then screw it up as badly as he did you have to wait your turn for another go. Any news on Guthrie's injury, will he be back to take over from Tiote or will Abeid get his turn or maybe the return of Smith to the central midfield area, perhaps his masterplan is to bring back Alan Smith as a striker? ......that should inject some pace and guile into the team!!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 13:20:08
Every single Mackem cares more about how our club's doing rather than how there's is. Sorry right, but we beat you at your place, and regardless of what you say you didn't deserve a win/draw. And last season, 5-1? No excuse.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

History worry about the future

Agree1 Disagree0

Just a point we beat you at your plavce 1-9, but it's history, 6 points behind and you are getting worried and bitter. in the next 10 games you will be crying into your cheesey chips supping white star and crying about agent ashley his puppet pardwho and your cockney mafia, Top dogs 4 seasons running I'd say it will happen! SGBS

Agree0 Disagree1

Malcolm Macdonald even said you were lucky that day.

Is it true that Virgin Money will on our shirts for Tonights game after supposedly agreeing with them to become our new sponsor.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

04 Jan 2012 10:12:29
Just read HBA interview... Guess he'll be the next out the door... All this crap AP saying wait til he's fit etc etc.. Bloody play him

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Do you believe the 'must be true' 'everyone loves a bit of fiction on their break' sun like? they never make anything up or are mischievous in any way.....

Agree0 Disagree1

Pardew starting to lose the dressing room, not looking good for you lot but you can always convert to the true top dogs SUNDERLAND if you want to see a team on the up! HA'WAY THE LADS!!

Agree3 Disagree2

You break both bones in your leg and try to play to your best again. have you seen much of ramsey since he had the same injury? HBA is only just getting back to his best you can see that so shut up and suport the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

Where in this post does it make reference to Ill feeling against the team.. It about time he was given a shot

Agree0 Disagree0

Pards knows from experience how long it takes to recover from such an horrendous injury having suffered a simular one himself. He will take great care of HBA and not over exert him to protect any relapse happening. Have some faith in Pards, he's done o.k but we've had tough games injuries and suspentions .All teams get a sticky period that's when the fans need to be the extra man.HTL.
