question for ed01 watching the match the other day when dagleish went on the pitch. gerrard told him to get off do you think he's lost the dressing room m8 ...looks like it to me ...is it not illegal for a manager to go on the pitch ...geordie tom {Ed001's Note - I think Gerrard is just too big for his boots and should have been sold years ago, but to a degree yes.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers for getting back m8 ...geordie tom {Ed001's Note - no worries mate, it was proper hiding we were given, a lot of the issues at the club came to the surface, Gerrard and Carragher being the main ones.}

I honestly feel for Carra you know. A few years back when I was playing for youth teams, him and Terry were players I idolised, their technique, positioning, tackling was top notch. But now they're getting on a bit and, despite me being a newcastle fan, it makes me pretty sad that they're now just a shadow of their former selves. {Ed001's Note - Carra is a great lad too, I hate seeing him struggle, he is one of very few that has never been an arrogant git who wouldn't mix with fans. Even now he will stop and chat with randoms, while Gerrard has his minders that are instructed to pull him away from autograph hunters to stop him looking like the bad man.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The only gripe I've got with Carra tbh, is the price of beer in his bar. {Ed001's Note - it is a bit pricey!}

Good reply Ed

do you think that Gerrard thinks he is untouchable? and could a manager other than kenny have a problem moving him on? (the same problem AVB faced at chelsea wth terry and lampard)

ToonFan {Ed001's Note - yes, it was the reason Hodgson had no chance, Gerrard and Carragher wanted them, then decided they didn't like him, the club were trying to replace him for months before they asked Dalglish. A number of managers were interviewed, Rijkaard even being given a tour of Anfield, before being decided against, for various reasons. I really thought Dalglish might be a big enough personality to sort Gerrard out, he certainly kept him benched for a while, but it's not happening. The lad forgets his place. The only solution is to get rid, he is holding the club back on and off the pitch.}

Yeh Hodgson was destined for failure from the start i thought, regardless of how good a manager he is.

They are some pretty damning comments Ed, and from a liverpool fan who clearly has a good inside knowledge of the workings of the club. It shows that although Gerrard is a great player he isn't great for the club.

Any specifics (or at least a bit more detail) on what problems he actually causes at lfc?

ToonFan {Ed001's Note - he has always been arrogant, even as a kid he was brought up to believe he was something special. When he threatened to leave he got begged to stay and given a huge pay rise etc. He was made captain, he didn't want to play on the right so Rafa moved him inside into a position that meant he didn't have to chase back. He fell out with Torres, Torres was sold due to the fallout following it (though Torres was not innocent in the whole situation). Basically the club has bent over backwards to keep him happy. Obviously there are numerous off the field issues he has been involved in as well, which I would rather not discuss. Gerrard has far too much power for a player, especially one that has played so poorly in recent years. That is one of the big differences between Newcastle that went down and the Newcastle that you are watching now. All the big time charlies have been removed, now the club is working together, as a team.}

Could not agree more, relegation meant we could move off our players on high wages who we didnt want and start fresh.

In a recent interview Llambias claimed ashley hated oba martins as when he arrived he noticed he had a goal scoring bonus and as a result would shoot constantly instead of playing for the team.

The relegation meant all this could be got rid of and we now have a hard working, talented squad who play to win.

I never knew anything about gerrard and torres falling out, anything major?

And gerrard may have power but surely the new owners should back whatever manager they choose not just with money for buying but also with the power to sell who they want too.

ToonFan {Ed001's Note - the falling out was initially nothing, Torres wanted to stay at home with the family, Gerrard wanted him to go out 'with the lads' on team building exercises. Neither would compromise, both were making demands on the club, it led to a number of 'incidents' and that was why Torres had a sulk on and was sold. I do hope the new owners will back whoever is in charge to sell the old guard and bring in a fresh new side. I just think they are a bit wary of upsetting the fans, following the previous owners Liverpool fans, in the main, are very wary of American owners. There is a lot of distrust there, and selling Gerrard would not go down well with the majority, even though he has not played well. That about Obafemi Martins, it is a very common complaint about players, a certain Yakubu for instance. It is ok when the goals are flowing, but as soon as they have a bad patch, it is a disaster as they will shoot even more!}

Yeh, Gerard still has a few good years in him but if it holds the team back he needs to be let go.

The owners should take the risk, I imagine anfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree that although Gerard may have a few good years but if he holds the team and manager back just get rid and make him out to be the bad guy in it all.

Fans may be upset but they will still sell out anfield and as long as results pick up the fans won't care, same as us with Carroll.

Obviously Gerard has done a lot for lfc but nobody should be seen as untouchable, it breeds comlaicancy and upsets players who don't see it as fair.

Well done lads good points you lot have to say,good read

Kinda reminds me of Roy Keane at Man Who he got flogged on when he got too big for his boots and it worked out

Agree0 Disagree0

The differences with Keane and Gerrard are:

1) Alex ferguson has total control due ot his success and longevity, fans totally trust him on pretty much everything.

2) man utd had other great players in midfield, liverpool currently dont.

ToonFan {Ed001's Note - that's very true, it makes it a lot more difficult.}
