why is it whenever people post a 'wish' team 4 next season on here they are always putting douglas ahead of S taylor because imo taylor is a better player all round
Believable8
Unbelievable0
As good as Taylor is (should be in the England starting 11) he is injured all the time, let's hope he stays fit for a while and leads England into Brazil.
Agree3
Disagree1
LOL, he is certainly not good enough for England.
Agree4

We cannot rely on S.Taylor to be fit for a whole season and everytime we nurse him back to fitness we always run the risk he may not come back as good.
Agree1
Disagree1
SBR said years ago that s taylor would and should make it into the england team! if sir bobby thought this then thats goods enough for me
Agree3
Disagree0
He's not good enough for England? he's one of the best English defenders when hes fit...
Agree3

Think he said the same about Bramble too !

The Mackems are now after Anita SSN... Shall we make an improved bid or let him go?
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Why don't he come to us and you pay his plane fare SGBS!
Agree1

Improved offer
Agree0

Do not remenber any player we wanted and he chose safc..theres plenty we spoke to and then never went back in for them and bought better..smb
Agree2
Disagree0
Would be gutted if the mackems got him over us.
Agree1
Disagree0
He's been way overpriced imo .Let the Mackems blow their cash not us.
Agree4
Disagree0
Let him go they are looking for 8 million, far too much to pay for an over rated unproven player, there are many good other defensive mids/versatile players out there who would not cost that much
Agree2
Disagree0
Would rather spend £8m on a proven left back and see Santon in midfield.
Agree2
Disagree1
We had 6 million turned down for him dont think i would give any more for him.....k
Agree2
Disagree0
You could get wanyama for 5.5m

Surely if De Jong is going to cost us closer to £14million we would be better off going and buying:
Kevin Gamerio - £7.5million
Ola Toivenen - £6million
Spending £13.5million on two quality strikers rather than £14million on one who is inexperienced? What do you think ED..?
GeordieToon {Ed022's Note - De Jong is better than both of them combined in my opinion. If Newcastle manage to get De Jong, then the prospect of Cisse and De Jong up front is truly mouthwatering - and could be the best partnership in the league.}
Believable4
Unbelievable0
Got to agree with you ed,and why two strikers (average) when they would prob never start a game together
Agree2
Disagree0
Disagree on Gamiero ED, he is quality and actually pacier than De Jong although I make you right on Toivenen.
However for what we have offered for LdeJ could we not get Sturridge? {Ed022's Note - No, Sturridge would cost around 16 million, and Sturridges wages are double that of LDJ. Honestly, you Geordies don't know how lucky you are if you end up signing him.}
Agree1
Disagree1
Get Sturidge,if the offer is no good then tough
We have seen how Torres & Carrol have panned out
Agree0
Disagree2
Carrol is still a decent player its just liverpool dont play hin to his abilities...k
Agree2
Disagree0
If gameiro is so good why are psg selling him? and hes obviously a money grabber we offered him the chance to sign for us before and he chose not to, would much rather de jong than either of them or both as that would be signing players we really don't need
Agree1
Disagree0
Agreed would rather have LdeJ but the post was about value for money and if we can get Gameiro for £5m less then we use the difference to strengthen elsewhere and Gameiro would score goals in the EPL.
Agree0
Disagree0
Don t get sturridge he won t get played coz of his meningitiis

Newcastle have cooled their Interest in De Jong According to a very reliable Sky sports Writer. As follows:
@SkyGraemeBailey
Sky Sports understands that Newcastle have cooled their interest in Luuk de Jong and are now looking at other targets.
I hope this is just a ploy to keep the price for De Jong down but i am sure Maiga would be available at a fraction of the cost Newcastle were quoted for him when they first showed interest.
My preference would be for Newcastle to get De Jong.

Best gone to Blackburn for 'over 3mill' on SSN... will miss him and won't forget his goal in the comeback game against arsenal... Ed, does this mean Newcastle will be forced to look at more than 1 striker, especially with the ACON... Any news on the striker front Ed? {Ed001's Note - there is a definite intent to sign a striker, difficult to gauge if the club intend to get a second one as well though. There have been a number of enquiries go in, not just in Holland, but in France as well, apparently. I am told that Maiga is also of interest to Newcastle, as well as West Ham, though I honestly know nothing of the player, so don't know if he is even a striker.}
Believable0
Unbelievable1
I'm sure we were interested in Maiga last year, but he failed a medical. Don't think he will be our target this year. Hopefully, Newcastle are looking at Guidetti and Castaignos as well as de Jong.
