how ironic it would be if Pardew fields his full strength team tomorrow against Dover

I read a quote from John Carver saying he didn't have to speak to MA about the job as it doesn't report to him. If so, who does the role report to, what is there vision of how they want the team to play and what is being done about the search?
I just hope that the leaders at the club see the value in investing in a good coach who can develop young talent.

Reports to Lee Charnley.

Agree0 Disagree0

What does Lee Charnley know about football? I get the bloke is good at doing transfers but shouldn't there be a director of football in this whole structure? Perhaps someone like Gerard Houllier?

I prefer the idea of a continental coach as Bobby Robson was the last manager we had capable of actually buying the right players. Souness, Allardyce and Pardew have been junk.

Agree0 Disagree0

No idea, but he's well regarded within the club and local press. the only thing I can say for sure is that we (the club) seem to lack personnel in every department, players, coaches and management personnel.
it seems like we like to run the club as bareboned as possible.

I should think on Friday Carver looked at his notebook to see what Pardew would do for the Leicester game and did exactly that. Then waffles before and after (usual stuff, crowd are magnificent and deserve better) but still serves up dross, they worked under Pardew for 4 years they are tarnished move them on

How to lose games and alienate people?

Season over half way through season just like last year. This club is going nowhere sissoko will be sold wants to bring in head coach not a manager. Ashley is the one we need rid of doesn't care about the club just what he Can suck out of it. We can no longer have good players to worship. 49. 000 supports this this regime that's why it won't go away

I agree karanka. Assistant to mourino. Should have some Spanish connection. Done well at boro. Attack minded. And ill have boro left winger while at it. Can't think of his name

Gaz: 100% agree. 50,000 fools 'support their team through thick and thin' while the club goes down the pan. Sad.

And another thing. If 'fans' can't be a***d to stay away to save our club, maybe they could be persuaded to hold up 'Wonga out' sheets, or 'Sports Direct out' and start to attack Ashley where it hurts?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the Ashley out but there's little chance of us forcing him out. It's well known he is a willing seller and the problem has always been a lack of a buyer.
We will never really challenge top-6 with Ashley in charge, unless of course we somehow unearth the type of manager Arsenal did with Wenger (unheard of, unknown quantity at the time). Little chance of that also.

Everything about the way the club is run is a joke but we have little chance of changing that.

If Carver gets the job i'll look forward to relegation, he has shown not an ounce of tactical ability or man management/motivational skills when he has been in charge (including during Pardew ban). Nor did he at Toronto. I would accept Carver till the end of the season if it means we can get the right person. but even then, i'd expect us to finish around 16th.

A Head Coach should be a master tactician and a motivator. Not sure if man management would really fall into this role but I would think so.

I really like the idea of an ex-defender who plays attacking football (de Boer / Garde / Galtier / Tuchel) simply because our defence has been woeful for the best part of decades.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Remi Garde.}

good to hear Ed002. Garde was a successful defender in the Prem, hopefully he can create a team that builds from the back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree GT, I read that Charnley has free reign on the appointment. If that is the case then this is his chance to get the club back on track.

Odds on boro manager Aitor Karanka to take over at NUFC have been slashed to 10/1. Just wondering what are people's opinions on him? Personally I think he's doing well with boro (4th in the championship) got them playing some good football, under restricted conditions, would certainly prefer him over Steve McClaren

Anyone who can get the best out of our players is fine by me. That rules Carver out.
I think it is the right thing to go with a head coach, that's what the manager should be spending all their time doing.

They aren't qualified to negotiate deals or even scout players.
