Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

31 May 2011 23:49:21
Ive just been looking back and noone had a sniff of the Cabaye deal until Saturday. So really it is just stories being constantly regurgitated that people have read in the press or on one of football websites. It would be refreshing that instead of just writing the same things to try and force it to be true that people who are genuinely informed would give information.

Ps Does everybody think it's pretty great the amount of posts Newcastle fans have put on Gervinho's facebook page. Would be fantastic if we could get someone of his ilk.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Sucking up to someone doesn't work its about money and trophys so that's youse knackered

To the prat who said gervinho is going to the toon cause arsenal have a 50k wage cap needs to get his facts right. Fabregas is on 85k and nasri just offered 90k so unlucky. No way he gonna sign for next seasons relocation favs

Believable0 Unbelievable5

I assume u mean relegation if so, sunderland are far more likely to get relegated as you have little spending money and all your strikers are leaving. See you next Season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Arsenal are past it lad, newcastle will finish above arsenal next season, nasri n fabregas will both leave this summer leaving you with a bog standard squad and an over rated manager. . fact

Agree1 Disagree5

Arsenal aren't past i mate. They just did the same thing this year as they have for the last few years. Starts a season all gunners blazing then by March/April they crumble.

Ed, is 7.5 million the asking price for berbatov, seems to me it would be much higher

{Ed010's Note -He only has 12 month left on his contract, hence the price.

Berbatov is going Spurs, Bayern or Juve

Gervinho is going Arsenal, Liverpool. Most Probably Arsnenal with all the other Frechies!

Gamiero is off to Valencia, They will cough up the money eventually and meet the asking price.

N'Zogbia is holding out for a team like liverpool to come in for him otherwise he will settle for Newcastle.

Expect Enrique to go, If Barton goes (which he will because why would Ashley keep him and let him go for free next year when he can save himself a years waged and cash in a few million now) so will Nolan as they are bff's

Nufc Fans need to get real, glad to see the Drogb rumours dies off too.

Your thoughts on these ed?

{Ed010's Note -Creating a successful football team is very much a work in progress and because of this, fans get become alarmed and excited, in equal measures, by which players are sold and which players are bought. If Alan Pardew does sell Barton, Enrique and Nolan in the forthcoming transfer window, he knows that he must replace them with better quality players or he sets himself up for a fall. The reality of the situation is that modern day footballers are only interested in three things, their salary, the length of their contract and a guarantee of first team football. Other factors, like European football are good to have but not necessarily essential. It is with this in mind, I think that Newcastle fans are doing their club a disservice, by automatically dismissing the chances of Pardew and Ashley securing at least one big name. It may prove to be that you are correct in your predictions but football fans are allowed to fantasize and speculate, at least until such times as these players mentioned, sign for another club.

dont think newcastle will stop signing players after signing gameiro or gervinho, cabaye, n zogbia. they are top targets for us. and ashley will give pardew more money if needed. it was hard for ashley to love newcastle because he supports tottenham but now after seeing a whole new side he will do everything he can to get newcastle back into top flight however he won't be spending money on players who have a good part of their career and turn to be flops. he will sign players that are consitant and fit the wage bill

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We are already in the top flight! Weird post mate.

8 million plus Shola, and another would be a good shout. Not sure they'd want Smith/Perch/Xisco. Wigan are rubbish but not desperate.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

Danny Simpson is amazing?
I think you should watch which side of the pitch most of the opposition's goals are created from. He's the weak link of our team and other teams have been well aware of that all season. Definitely replaceable. By who, i do not know.

I think Kyle Walker would be a good replacement

Eds its been reported in the journal that newcastle won't go for both gameiro or gervinho it will be one or other. Any clue if this is reliable or how reliable the journal actually is? i find it hard to believe we wouldn't want to sign our two main targets if given the chance, especially with both having potentially good resale value. thanks

goalkeeper Westwood/gilks/harper defenders simpson taylor williamson enrique/gosling midfielders nolan cabaye tiote forwards benarfa berbatov/demba ba sturridge

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Anyone who thinks we need a new keeper is completely mad! Krul is only 23 and has had a great season playing very well in games like against ManUtd. His idol is van der sar, hes dutch (which ususally gud) what more can u ask for? while he gathers experience Harper will be the main man who is nt the best keeper but he is consistent, and not at a level where we shud worry bout gettin a new keeper. spurs had champions league this season and finished high up the table, they don't have an excellent keeper theyd be delighted with harper at least hes not calamitous

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Haha would still be good enough to beat sunderland lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Was everyone else sold?

Agree0 Disagree0

Will probably be after cashley has took all he can and ran off

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest your saying Ashley is selling every player but all based because he sold Carroll and will probably have to sell Enrique due to the fact he won't sign new contract also Newcastle seem to be doing more than Sunderland in bringing in new players so far Sunderland have tapped up Ba and been linked heavily with Vaughan lmao!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but ashley will not be running anywhere, he can't run the fat twa. . but if he stays true to his word and buys the players we are linked with and sorts the debit out he might not be a bad guy after all. we all make mistakes, just hope he has made the last one.

Agree0 Disagree0

And how often has he kept to his word, he's blaitantly took most of the 35 mill off carroll and put it in his pocket. he owns sports direct who are one of the worst companies to work for. hes only interested in his own bank account and the more money he makes from newcastle the more likely he will sell players. sel the club and leave us in the lurch

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you are being unfair! Sports Direct is the No1 in its sector, turnover up, profits up, share price up, principal shareholders wealth well up and most importantly staff share substantial annual bonus

I agree with the post about ashley being able to handle certain situations, ie. barton contract, better (would of replied on that particular post but my phone is pants and doesn't let me for some deranged reason) he comes across as being to stubborn sometimes but that does have the advantage that the club won't be held to ransom by players who think they deserve rediculous wages like a certain ex no 9 (sorry to bring him up im sick of hearing his name aswel) i do think ashley is learning tho and give praise where its due were off the mark nicely by the looks of things this summer, remember hes never run a club before, not that im making excuses for him lets be clear on that i just see alot of positives for next season and the future i also think it seems hes slowly learning the type of player and football we expect. Thats providing the deals that are supposedly "done" really do come off and theyr not exceptionally cruel red herrings :) pd

my father used to be on the board at newcastle, after his golf today he has informed me that during a conversation with a present club emplyee at board level. . .
cabaye has agreed to join for 4.3 millon
gameiro to decide on his future after newcastle have a 10 m bid accepted, the club are currently in pole position as they are offering the full 10m upfront.
gervinho. . also 10m bid not yet accepted or declined, player wants the week to decide, arsenal also interested???
barton to be sold, 3 to 4 million, but most importantly free up 60k a week hes currently on,
enrique being offered 5 year deal at 80k pw. . he has already stated that he wants to see who comes in before commiting to a new deal

Alan Pardew is chasing bargains

ALAN Pardew is confident Newcastle United can land more Cheik Tiote-style bargains buy this summer.

The club are working on a deal to bring Lille midfielder Yohan Cabaye to St James s Park for just £4.3m by triggering a release clause in his contract.

And Pardew who is looking to invest the £35m banked from the January sale of Andy Carroll wisely is also keen £10m-rated Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, while Cabaye s Lille s team-mate Gervinho is another potential target.

However, Pardew believes the business the club does for more modest fees could prove just as successful as the £3.5m deal that took Tiote to Newcastle from FC Twente last summer.

Tiote was a revelation in his first season, and the hope is the club can land another player who can hit the ground running in the same way that the 25-year-old did in his first season in English football.

To back up his point, Pardew pointed to the impact £6m striker Javier Hernandez in his debut campaign at Manchester United.

There are bargains out there, Pardew said. Look at Hernandez at Manchester United he was their player of the year and cost £6m.

That doesn t mean to say that anybody else could have got him, because if Manchester United are in, then you ain t going to get that player.

You ve got to be clever, and I think we ve got enough going on on the transfer front to suggest that another Cheik could arrive.

Hopefully, it will, because they re very, very rare to get a player who can make that sort of impact in his first year.

Cabaye, a France international, told his team-mates after Lille wrapped up their championship-winning campaign with a 3-2 win over Rennes that he would join the Magpies this summer.

Coach Rudi Garcia said: Yohan told us yesterday first me, then the whole group before the game that he has chosen to join Newcastle.

It is a choice that I respect, although I wish he had continued the adventure with us.

However, it is understood the deal for the 25-year-old is yet to be finalised

However, I will give you my best guess, it is 50/50, a 50% chance you will sign one, a combination of or all of these players and a 50% chance you won't sign one, a combination of or all of these players.

Hi everyone, what a dream it would be for Dimitar Berbatov to come to ST. James Park, he used to sleep in a Magpies shirt when he was a boy so there is a possibilty that he could come but he will probably won't because United want to use him in a player plus cash deal for Luca Modric.

I actually think Mike Ashley has the right idea at Newcastle. There's reportedly £3 billion of debt in the Premier League and Ashley is trying to make sure our share of that 3 billion is as small as possible on our end so we don't fall into administration like teams such as Pompey and Luton (look where they are now compared to a few seasons ago! Pompey winning the FA Cup and Luton in the Championship).

He's trying to ensure the financial longevity of this club, the way we were going under Freddy Shepherd was completely wrong, buying flops like Luque, Boumbsong, Babayaro, Viana, Owen!, and he's written off so much of our previous debt by pumping millions of his own pounds into the club instead of players, allowing our youth to come through.

I hate it when I see people complaining, saying lets spend £10 million on him, £15 million on him, get Ashley out cos he's not spending money. It's bulls**t! He's going about this football business in the right way and finding young, cheap players who don't demand stupid wages. A 60K wage cap is more than enough for anyone and anyone who wants more can jog on in my opinion! Look at the likes of Simpson, Tiote, Enrique and Jonas, bought for less than £10m for all of them and are now essential players.

So before people slate Ashley just think, would I rather we buy one player for £20m, risk him being a flop, pushing us further into debt, or buy a player for about £5m who's younger, on less wages and has the potential to grow into a star. I know what I'd choose. .

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I agree the Ashley transfer philosophy works Tiote, Enrique prove that and Cabaye as well.Gone are the dark days of Owen , Boumsong, Lucque and many more.I like the way we now put transfers together, the cash up front, the scouting and investigation that insures value

Agree5 Disagree1

I agree with you. one thing though is he could handle situations like with Barton better. Barton is having the form of his career loves playing for nufc, and this season when he was playing our results were better. its not like hes into his 30s yet or something. For him to come in and offer to play for less and not be given a new contract is disgraceful. Maybe it cud happen during summer or season but there shudnt be any hesitation. He shudv been the first to been offered new contract!

Agree3 Disagree0

Barton shot himself in the foot by making ill advised remarks in a public meeting in Toon about Cashley. The contact was immediatly withdrawn
