Ed you recon we'll go for roux now that maiga deal looks to have hit a snag? or are there other front runners?

{Ed042's Note - Maiga looks more likely after they have pushed through a deal for Abdoul Camara.. been translating French all evening so my heads about to explode ha but basically the Brest fans (innuendos welcome) are counting down the hours until they hold onto him, doubtful we will go for him if Maiga deal goes through early tomorrow but will keep you informed}

I know it's difficult, but if you ask 13 million per Cisse, because they try to offer 15 million for Gonzalo Higuain, the money is there the problem is that Ashley is the owner, my choices for the striker but perhaps would be unlikely to include:

andy carroll (on loan)
podolski (10 m)
Bendtner (10 m or on loan)
Higuain (15 m)
Luuk de Jong (6 m)
federicho Macheda (on loan)
Yannick Djalo (5 m)

I just hope they can sign a good striker for the rest of time.

I still think Bendtner would be a great signing

Leeds United winger Max Gradel is signing for St.Etienne, not Sochaux, which means Sochaux may not find a replacement for Maiga on time and stopping him from joining NUFC. Hopefully we still manage to sign him.

Now, with max gradal signing for st.etienne. Parses will nit take AF up on his loanee signing of mancheda, let down again us fans, as usual.

We have just signed a smashing young international defender and are still in the hunt for other players yet you say we are let down again! Your mad you are! kaka,hugain swp adam johnson or other world class players !

All of named players wount come to us! Kaka no way at all. He just turned down spurs and arsenal and said he staying at real madrid were he is happy. Hugain too expensive and too big of a player who would want Champions league. Adam johnson will play a big part in citys games this year and already said he wont be leaving and wants to be a part of citys success and then theres SWP who isnt as good as some think he is and isnt worth the wages he wants from stoke and bolton. Rumoured to be around 70k a week!

SSN reporting that Gradel is off to St Ettienne, which will invariably have a knock-on effect with our dealings with Sochaux and Maiga. Looks like a replacement may be needed.

Our expectations have been managed by Pardew's announcement soundbite..."Davide is a quality left back...". Good signing but opportunity missed i think. Should be signing an attacking right back as well as left back.

I personally think we ok in that position too and dont think simpson is as bad as people make him out to be and is only young

{Ed042's Note - Maiga still looks possible but made difficult with Gradel choosing Ettienne. Macheda loan with option to buy is an option to us but not sure whether we are going for it or not. Cisse linked but £13m too much for him imo. Keeping an eye on the French sites and forums about Roux. Hoping see developments on that by tomorrow morning.. think it will be one FW we sign tbh mate would be very surprised if we got two}

I´ve said it all the time. We will get no striker. We will have to stick with the worst line of strikers in the premier league. Why I wonder? Ed how come we didn´t manage to sign a striker when we so desperately needed one?

Hands up i doubted we would sign anyone. The Santon signing is first class and fair do's to M.A and co. However still no prolific striker as yet which is rather frustrating.

Getting worrying now like. maiga only player who looked ods on to sign so if gradel deal falls through were snookerd. only hope will be macheda on loan

Ba needs to step up as do the youngsters ie Vuckic and sammi.

just been on the nufc offical site and smith and guthrie are the only two players that are not on loan not to have new picture take still in last sessions strip could this mean these will be the next two to leave the club

Would love to see santon, cissokho, macheda and maigo would be very happy with that squad! Think the chances of this are very unlikely though, looks as if it will be santon and then the striker will depend on whether gradel goes to sochaux or not. I've seen a bit of santon and he looks a cracking player but although he can play at lb it does seem that he is much stronger at rb. If his left foot is weak aswell could be a worry. Imagine the likes if nani running at a right footed lb?

When he played against christiano ronaldo as a left back a few years ago ronaldo asked to be moved onto the left wing because he could get past santon

It'll be young and N'zog I'm worried about. Though he seemed to hold of ronaldo a couple of seasons ago.

santon and elliot deals to be completed by tonight. in the morning news will break that maiga is flying in for a medical. Pardew may pull out of a loan deal for man utd macheda if he can tie down a 6 month loans deal for lukaku. We wont be signing cissokho aswell as santone. Hopefully santon will play LB and r taylor at RB as he offers far more than Simpson both as a defender and an attacking threat from crosses and free kicks

Well and truly on the ryan taylor band wagon just because he has scored 2 free kicks, but harsh truth is, he has been truly awful in general play, granted simpson isn't the greatest, but taylor being the answer is a joke

Santon is in Newcastle and will not be on a return flight without a Newcastle Squad Number, Maiga Deal looks like it will happen as Sochaux have found a replacement in Gradel, So long as they can get Gradel they will let Maiga go and Leeds want to cash in on Gradel now. This is Fantastic News for the Club and will appease the doubters once and for all that the club has ambition and will spend when the right players are available.

Just seen on ssn that Stoke are in talks with new Chelsea signing romelu lukaku over a loan move. If we see this I think it would be ludicrous not to try and hijack the move. Cracking young player, hense the 18mil Chelsea just payed for him. Obviously would always then return to Chelsea but would be great until we can get someone good in January!
