To the person that said

Newcastle have to sell or loan off four players because of the twenty five man squad rule and if we buy more to leave.
So we should sell Best and Ameobi. Then loan out Lualua, Ranger and Tozer.

we do not have to sell anyone as under 21's don't have to be included in the 25 man squad and can still be used.

so the squad of 25 could be

coloccini/simpson/enrique/campbell/williamson
perch/nolan/barton/smith/routledge/jonas
guthrie/lovenkrands/arfa/carroll/r. taylor/s.taylor
ameobi/tiote/best/xisco/gosling/new signing.


Clubs must name no more than 25 players, eight of which must meet their definition of "home grown" - spending three seasons with with any FA or Welsh FA club before the age of 21 (regardless of the player's nationality.)

Players under the age of 21 don't count towards that squad total of 25 players. The cutoff point therefore is for players to have been born after January 1st 1989.

Members of United's current squad therefore excluded are Andy Carroll, Ryan Donaldson, Dan Gosling, Kazenga LuaLua, Tamas Kadar, Haris Vuckic, Jeff Henderson, Nile Ranger, Shane Ferguson, Brad Inman, Sam Adjei and James Tavernier.

There's no 25 man rule for Carling Cup or FA Cup fixtures, just the Premier League.


gosling could be left out with him been injured and also under 21

To the person who said smith only played 2 good games.cant be a newcastle fan does not know newcastle has not got a clue. he a great player most are plays go though him tackles are great. . did not read the fact from last year then he won the most tackles in the leauge and puts his heart in to every game

I disagree mate Barton and Nolan are the player who are setting the goals up not smith.

So what do we think of Andy Carroll not getting a place in the England squad. From the strikers Capello has picked (Defoe, Crouch, Bent, Cole & Rooney) none of them has been in better form than Carroll. For instance Rooney had a terrible World Cup and scored his first goal in 5 months and it was a penalty. Crouch did score a hattrick mid week but other than that nothing. The only striker that pleased to see in the team is Defoe. I think he is The best English striker we have at the minute in form. People have been saying that Capello shouldn't pick Carroll because he's to young and inexperienced. WTF! ! Capello has just picked Kieron Gibbs from Arsenal and Adam Johnson who have next to none International Experience. If I was manager for the Bulgaria game this would be my team.
