Say if you had to work in a budget of around £25mil who would you buy?

Actually let's increase that to 35mil, bearing in mind that players that look certain to leave could get us around 15-20mil

Personally if debuchy leaves I would switch santon to rb with haidara & dummett fighting for the lb spot also Raylor can cover both,Anita could also cover rb if needed.
Centre back- caulker perhaps?
Playmaker-cabella or greniar(spelling)
Winger-zaha(loan with option) or ince
Strikers-ings & or Austin also I I've said previous Luke de Jong if he could be picked up relatively cheap!
If there's any change how about a daft bid for Michael carrick,be nice to see him finish his career at home!
Also regardless of who we do or don't sign I hope this season to see a lot more of some of the young lads!

Just read that final sentence of my reply & it sounds really wrong! I would like to see our younger players get more game time, the likes of bigi,Armstrong, Campbell, good.
Also forgot to say how about borini? Did a good job last year in the badlands!

Hi folks
not put anything on here for a while but then there hasn't really been a lot to write about. however I just thought i'd see where people stand on this. Now that we have Siem De Jong can anyone see us attempting a cut price deal for his brother. I know he was pretty useless but with a pre season under him with the squad, his brother and so far krul and anita both still with us maybe he will settle and we can get some sort of form out of him. after all he has been a good player maybe just a confidence thing. considering we are light on strikers maybe having him in the squad as shola replacement wouldn't be bad. I don't know let's say 3 million tops. would you take it?

Yeah I would take him for that price.
He didn't look great the twelve or so games he played & like you say it could of been down to confidence and it also takes some lads time to adjust to the epl!
Pretty much the whole team( bar remy) were shocking towards the end of the season so I find it hard to really judge the kid playing in a team which was merely going through the motions!
A full pre-season under his belt along with the incentive of playing with his brother every week we could very well see a different(better hopefully) player!

If we got to put in squad then we wouldn't be so short and Ashley wouldn't pay out for another two strikers. so no don't go there

PFM: agree, Luuk's a good technical player going through a bad spell. Needs to be playing regularly and building confidence through pre-season. I would take him on a season loan with option, and give him as much game time as poss.

LDJ like Cisse is no good at Newcastle
Bony was the man Needed or a striker in the mode of Shearer not a bit player without body strength and flair
Perez will come through as will Armstrong but a quality striker is needed now as is a quality CB

Apparently he will sign once France have finished the World Cup. 12m for a 29 year old i'd take that, 6mil profit not too shabby for ashley
