Anybody remember that tv programme when gary Lineker went to see st James Park and done that interview with Sir bobby. I was so proud to be a supporter of the toon sir bob made the club look like a big club and we we're a big club after getting into top four it was run his way. Now bet if lineker went back now it would be like watching only fools & horses. Let's be honest no matter how good the manager is the clubs not being run properly. Like that fella said in the paper saying Ashley will run the club on the cheap. And thoe we've spent 32mill other clubs who didn't get champions league spent last season and are still spending paying over 20 million for there players just wish we would show abit more ambition it's frustrating knowing it's all there but just needs a horse for the cart instead of a donkey

Yes Gaz unfiotunately people forget these times
and yes certain fans are hapoy to accept
what the club throws at them
Never we will have a top team & club as long as Ashley owns it
Be happy for what changes you are seeing but certainly it is not enough & nowhere near what SBR & KK would have done with this club.,but we have happy clappers and that is also a problem.
I 4 one do jot accept what is s happening (although a big improvement in last season) at NUFC as Ashley is only
moving the goal posts.

Vida what club do you support? Taking a couple of seasons when we might have been top of the league for a week or two (or not top for the few weeks that mattered in 1996) when has Newcastle been a top club?

WAKE UP MAN. We have had a team that was decent to watch 1983, 1992-1996, 2001-2003. The rest of the time the squad has been junk with the exception of a few players.

I agree about everything else and about Ashley. The only difference I see is Ashley isn't prepared to make as many agents rich.

As always wide awake Des watching so far another average season about to unfold, very happy with 3 signings and will be happier if we get 2/3 more players(so manynames)
I support Newcastle and you?

Regarding a decent team itvwill be hard to surpass kK team
and with a bit of adjustment coukd have been the force on English football, bit as always money conquerd all and Hall made a fortune and ran.
SBR time was also good but now we have no one with the desire to push this club to the top 6

So I hope this helps Go Back to Sleep Des
because some people are in Dream

Hope McLaren can at least build a team that can compete because that is all we can hope for under Ashley

Some people are happy with an attempts to gloss over last season, some are not and will no be until
a decent defence has been attended to

Normal really, only just Newcastle are desperate to strengthen the 2nd worst derenders in the PL

Williamson and Taylor will be destroyed and add Gouffran and Obertan in the mix and we all know it is going to be hard

The 3 players we have brought in look good and is a step in the right direction. BUT if Mbember gets a knock we are left with the same defense as last season with no cover for Jamatte some woeful CBs and 2 LBs who the jury is still out on, if the media and the toon army can see this then why can't management

Exactly Des we are prone to injuries 2 quality defenders are needed which has been said by more than one person on here and where are accused of neing miserable for being realistic.

Looks like Collo will stay but he has no playing time and When we open with Taylor and Williamson with Anita perhaps those Happy Clappers will see how desperate it is when Long scores a hatful.

On the bench Obertan and Guffron it is frightening man.

Anybody else think sissoko was terrible he didn't have first touch couldn't beat his man and should of scored I think he will be sold
And I think we desperately need a defensive organiser maybe Dawson from Hull watching are defence there's no one shouting or organising there heads just drop I mean what was Taylor thinking row z Steven instead of trying to play our of tight position?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Sell sissoko and whatever we get (17m be nice) and spend it all on a CB asap

When will any of you give the Club a chance? A clean slate means for everyone. Every player has lost something under Pardew and Carver at el. SM is a COACH so maybe he feels he can improve these players mentioned OR he is playing them to safeguard the fitness of his first eleven and putting some players in the shop window.
Don't understand how you can say Anita is poor mind. Las season he was our best passer of a ball.

8 yesrs of chance after chance AND they have a chance to improve and still awful defenders which will come to light next week
If McLaren has not watched this team beining mauled last season (every other manaher has) he s not the manager to be given a chance Geez oen your eurs with
Taylor and Willisomon on Saturday Southampton will have a field day
Anita is stop gap much better players than him

Trad what is written JT you are that desperate for a mediocre team anything is OK for you

Any manager starting with Taylor and Williamson needs his head looking at and that applies to Obertan and Gouffran also

McLaren was not a lot of peoples choice
He has a massive job & as has been written sticking with 3/4 who are frankly too poor will indo any good he is doing.

He is not a great manager but we all wish him well and if he hets 2/3 players being reported he has a chance but too many people are already blinkered

Art your acting like it's life or death it's pre season for god sake, things are going to take time, months possibly a good year. I'm prepared to wait that as these changes that McClaren is making will have hit the players hard after 5 years with the dinosaur Pardew. The high pressing is going to take time for the players to become good at, retaining the ball more is going to take time etc

Seems like you know JT but you don't
At best a mid table team as long as Ashley
owns Newcastle

Agree5 Disagree0

03 Aug 2015 09:50:50
Realistic not miserable JT a few new faces defenders especially will give everyone a lift
Why should Newcastle fans who support their club in droves
have to accept 2nd rate from Ashley

New season unfolds and reaction will be interesting after
the first 6 games.

soz JT but I agree with Vida for a change. There is little to be positive about McLarens team so far. But I think with time he should get better performances.

Hurts me to say it, but I agree with Vida. (And about the shirts). Ashley has no ambition above mid-table, but I'm reasonably confident for the coming season. Last two seasons we were doing ok up to Jan, but then deliberately and mistakenly went out of both cups. With nothing to play for, no motivation and then Carver in charge the wheels came off well and truly. Let's hope the momentum can be maintained for the full 38 games.
On another topic, I wouldn't bother with Austin. If an additional striker is required I' d push Sissokho up front where his strength height and pace could do some good, and free up a place in midfield.
And as Ashley doesn't get a halfpenny out of me, I'm £50 a match better off and much happier on the outside, Art, than you could ever be paying good dosh to watch dross on the inside.

Stick with your principals Vic as that is all we fans have.
We all want success and frankly entertaining
not having to try and speculate why this Oaf
does and everything revolves about money for him.

One day I hope we can all be in agreement
about the club managet and team.

Listen, by no means am I happy to settle for "little improvement" from last season, absolutely not, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm prepared to wait, for example I'm hoping Williamson will be gone by September, if he isn't, then I will be disappointed with McClaren. I hope we as a fan base can stick behind McClaren and be patient and we will soon finally have a team that can and WANTS to compete

to be fair to mclaren williamson has been the only fit cb for him to play.
I am still disappointed by the lack of organisation at the back. The errors we have seen are defending 101 for the goals we have concede. Don't commit to a tackle upfield, don't play the ball across your own box, don't play offside traps when you're 1 vs 3.
Even I could coach that! We are talking errors that under 12s make.
If it is the fault of the players there must be grounds for gross misconduct.
