Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

I went and had a look at Wijnaldum on ScoutNation and he looks like a really good player so if the rumours are true I'd be happy with him in our midfield. However, what kept catching my eye was the great link up play with the PSV number 9, a certain Luuk De Jong. So I went and had look at him for PSV last season and you know what I think we missed out there. I know he did not do well for us but Pardew kept playing him in a number 10 role when he is an out and out number 9 so if we had the right coach playing him in his correct position then I think we should try and sign him if we cannot get Austin or even if we do sign Austin. Imagine the link up between LDJ and SDJ.

Apparently we've made a bid of £9mil for that Wijnaldum.

de jong was really bad in germany and england. He's not worth the risk.

his stats are great, that's why he will pick man utd, arsenal or liverpool over us. wijnaldum played under van gaal at the world cup and would love to work with him again.

on the other hand the opportunity to work with the self professed best coach in the premier league could be too hard to turn down?

You are probably right Des, the only caveat being that if he joins us he will be a guaranteed starter. He should look at Cabaye/Remy/Ba/Enrique as examples of players leaving for bigger and better clubs but who go from terrace hero's at SJP to terrace who are you's.

Spire I don't think many footballers think that way unless they are junk. cabaye, debuchy, ba and perhaps janmaat are the only ones out of all the players we have bought in the last 10 years.

imagine the link up play between ldj and sdj? Where on the treatment table?

I would be happier reducing the player transfer budget by £5m or even £10m to get the right coach and I don't care what Laudrup or Klopp have said if you offer them enough money, with assurances of funds for recruitment you stand a good chance of getting them. For me the most important signing this summer is the head coach, if we did not sign a single player but kept everyone we have including those on loan the right coach could make us a good side to watch and easily finish between 6th and 10th and get a good cup run.

I agree the head coach is the top priority, pay off carver/stone/woodman's contracts then invest in the head coach's own coaching staff, then look at new signings

What we need to do is what west ham are doing and look at horses for courses. Allardyce was the right man to get them out of championship and into premier league comfort. Quite rightly the board recognised he would not take them further and now they are seeking a high calibre coach to take them to the next level.
I'd like to see us get the lad from boro and build a young team with a few journeymen players. Energy and passion is what we need to see. let's have a 3 year plan to get into the top 6 by following southampton, swansea and evertons blue print. we could have made 18 mill on bony if ashley didn't have his stupid 10 mill rule. Their plan results in cups, higher league placings and higher profits from player sales than ashleys master plan.
