the point for the new zealand trip was to get some first hand experience of the A-league. We have signed Australian players in the past. With Man City buying a club in Australia Ashley sees an opportunity for business. Carr sees potential in the players as the league improves.

New Zealand trip was to promote SD as they are to open in NZ and Australia
The football did not matter

more people live in Newcastle than New Zealand so I'm not sure it is a market a businessman like Ashley would get much ROI on. He would make more from trading players than cheap trainers?
A client of mine, his son is Andrew Durante who plays for wellington phoenix. The reason they went hard at west ham and us is they were told that they were being scouted by both PL teams. Take it from me chaps NZ is rugby daft and if Ashley was seriously looking at the profile of the club then Australia would have been the place to come. Liverpool and Manchester United sold out in two hours last year.

Desree NZ and Australia is Ashley's goal
does not matter if it is Footy tops or Rugger tops that is where he wants to be. We learn t nothing from this trip and would have been as well playing Carlisle

Hi Art, I have lived in Australia for 10 years and let me assure you, if Ashley is half the penny pincher we give him credit for he will not be looking at Australia and NZ as a lucrative market. Rents and wages are astronomical.

We have 10 football league teams, 16 rugby league teams and the games get on average about 15,000 attendees. The AFL does a bit better and rugby union is a bit of a dud.

The retail sector in Australia is going through really tough times and we have plenty of sports shops selling crap.

It just doesn't make sense to me?

We have supposedly been linked with Remy Ba Carroll NONE of these should be considered
Some good players have been signed and we all know the 2 positions we have to fill just to be on a level playing field.
Charnley has done well listening to Carr and Ashley has tried to make up for lost time another 15/16m spent will bare fruit in the new season so get it organised ASAP.
