what ever happens we can not loose tiote he was badly missed against chelsea, he is as good as Roy Keane in a defensive midfielder role people under estimate how much he does to free up ben arfa and cabaye to go forward.
I reckon loose him and a top 8 finish could be out reach

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Come on now hes not as good as roy keane

Come on now, he's better!

This isn't necessarily a rumour, but is Spanish striker Xisco on loan at the moment or is he available to play, havn't heard anything about him recently... Surely with the striker problem we currently face he deserves at least a couple of substitute appearances, as he never really has had a chance to prove himself, just saying.
What do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - he is back at the club, you know he has recouped about 3.2m in loan fees during his time with the club? I have not seen enough of the lad to judge him, but he needs to either play or leave for his own sake.}

As weve already signed 3 midfielders this summer i would bank on AP bringing in a defender or striker if we are to sign anyone so douglas, debouchy are real possibles but doubt carrol will be back.
More chance of an unkown or a surprise player. Its his way

apparently alan pardew "cannot wait for a week to remeber"

Believable1 Unbelievable1

He never said a good week or bad week. i expecting a bad week. already prepared for the bad news.

Or he's just talking about the fact we can get into europa league?

I really want Cabaye and Tiote to stay, which gives our team a stability,Anita is still adjusting to the players and Premier League.I really hope we will sign Debuchy and i personally think we don't need Andy Caroll, we need a small striker who can ply his trade in wings and switch gears to cut defences like Tevez for Man city and suarez for liverpool. we already have giants with an eye for goal in Cisse and Ba, but this is my view. . . . iToon

I don't understand why everyone is jumping on the we hate Ashley bandwagon again atleast wait until Friday night once the window shuts.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Agent ashley

Agree1 Disagree1

... and if nothing happens we'll STILL get the Ashley lovers, home 'accountants' and those that love an attractive balance sheet (but not a football team) plus those hooked on his 5 year plan (that doesn't exist) coming on and asking us to give him time.

i am a newcastle fan and am getting increasingly annoyed with the lack of investment this summer. After doing so well last year i expected us to invest to make us a top 4 side, however this has not happened which doesn't make sense to me business-wise or success-wise. we had a lot of players in our team last year who looked good enough to challenge for the top 4 but others who were found out as soon as they came up against top 8 teams. we have signed anita and two young cm's who strengthen our squad but still we have not found a cb to challenge taylor and colo for a starting spot. Also we really need to get debuchy in as he is a far better player than simpson and there is no reason to keep simpson as we are very vulnerable to losing him for nothing. Debuchy would only cost 6mil and we could sell simpson for 2-3mil anyway. We are also crying out for a young striker as the only team shola is good against is sunderland and he is injured a lot and at any point ba's knee could go. We could then have a strong bench and a good starting 11. Early in the season i can also not understand why marveux has not played. He could provide the attacking threat on the left wing that guti never has. We could then play
krul
debuchy colo taylor santon
ben arfa cabaye tiote marveux
cisse ba
or
krul debuchy colo taylor santon
tiote anita
ben arfa cabaye marveux
cisse
and have a decent bench
harper perch/ williamson ba/anita gutierrez new young striker new cb gosling
and more back up in the squad. we have managed to get rid of some of the dead wood this summer tho which is good. So please ashley GET OUT THE CHEQUE BOOK!!!

I have been very dissapointed with our transfer business so far this window. Last year we made great strides forward finishing fifth, we started to play attacking football and many in the team looked like top 4 players. This is why this window has been so frurstrating i thought that we would try to build on last season and bring in the players that our team is crying out for. Anyone can tell that debuchy would be an improvement over simpson and that we need to get a new cb and younger striker through the door. Anita was definetly need

Believable3 Unbelievable2

28 Aug 2012 17:26:14
ive heard that there is more than a definate chance debuchy and carroll will sign, im not so sure what do you think Ed? {Ed052's Note - There is a chance of both yes}

love the way newcastle fans now love mike ashley 12 months ago he was the worst thing to happen to use!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

He still is m8 they are waking up to reality

Agree2 Disagree4

Love Mike Ashley? You have to be mad.
The guy has no love, respect or ambition for this club and its fans.
How long is it going to be before ALL the fans realise this? 5 year plans, empty promises and balanced accounts mean nothing and certainly not success.
He was going to put in £25mill per season and give us a team to be proud of.
Yeah - right.

Agree2 Disagree2

Don't worry, it shouldn't take too long for Martin O'Neill to bankrupt Sunderland. He's good at that with his clubs. Take a look at Leicester and Villa

Agree3 Disagree1

Safc will never be bankrupt with ellis short in charge, the man is considerably richer than agent(future glasgow rangers owner) ashley.FACT

I come in peace! If I had a white flag I'd be waving it. I'm a Gooner, and would like your opinion on
Cabaye. I have no idea if we're interested, but if we are what would we be getting.
How good is he?
What are his strengths and weaknesses?
How much is he worth?
Any genuine answers to these questions would be very much appreciated.
Secondly,I'm not going to ask about Tiote. As I just don't see Wenger going in for him at the price Newcastle would want for him.
There are many teams in the epl that I hate with a passion, but Newcastle aren't one of them. Good luck for the season ahead, and thanks for doing the spuds.
Going to wipe the brown stuff off my nose. Cheers,
Flybo

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Cabaye will cost more than tiote

Agree3 Disagree1

Cabaye is a central midfielder who plays best in a creative midfielder/playmaker role. wouldn't think arsenal would be interested though as u have arteta, rosicky and cazorla who are good as playmakers already. Wenger would never pay 25-30 mil for him which is the minimum fat mike would let him leave for.

Agree3 Disagree0

Cabaye is quality mate. Has a top all round game. Hope he doesn't leave but can't see you getting him for anything less than £20 million.

Agree3 Disagree0

God player type Wenger likes and buys
Good passer of the ball thinks quick and see's an eye for goal
In today's market 12/14m

Agree0 Disagree4

He is no good, You will not want him. (Honestly)

Agree5 Disagree0

Thanks for the comments, very much appreciated. Flybo

Cabs is at his best further up the pitch ,he is playing too deep with us at present.Very good player but don't actually think you need him as other poster pointed out you have good players already .

well weve lost 6 players and brought in 4.in smith, guthrie, lovenkrands and best amounts to approx. 120 k a week in wages plus the wages of kadar and forster, the 3 youngsters weve signed will be on approx.5k a week and anita about 35k.
this gives us a wage possitive of around 70k a week enough to pay another 2 first team players which is what i expect us to sign.
we are also touting tiote/cabaye for potential big money moves i think 1 will go to pay for the return of andy carroll, also think graeme carr has a replacement midfielder lined up but we may need to sell before we can buy .
all in all i expect 1 player leaving (tiote) and 3 in possibly carroll, debuchy and mvila...that wouldnt be to bad would it..del

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Tiote is the one player we can't afford to lose. If we had to lose him or Cabaye I would lose Cabaye. Hopefully keep them both though.

Agree2 Disagree0

What about the 200m+ since AC was sold it is a disgrace having to penny pinch to satisfy Ashley

Why don't we get in for Scott Sinclair talks with man city apparently stalled , £5mil bargin , decent player gonna be a class act in years to come also English!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Yes him and JOhnson who would have loved to come to the Toon. Reason is we have an owner deciding on who to buy who has no clue aboit football generally or techinally

28 Aug 2012 15:36:40
Personally don't know who is coming in at all, I know Andy Carroll, Debuchy have been linked with us, but they have all summer, can't see anyone going out which a massive plus itself if it happens. If we do make a signing I think it will just be the one. Would prefer it to be Mattheu Debuchy. Can't see Newcastle paying £17million for Andy Carroll, but I would love the return of him. I believe we will sign a defender and then sign a new striker in January when Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba go to the African cup of nations. (ToonThomas)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

They won't be going acon tho

Not a rumour but Ed do you know if season tickets get you reduced or free tickets for cups such as FA cup and League Cup? Cheers {Ed052's Note - Not a clue sorry. Perhaps speak to the club. I would think not thought. SOmeone else should be able to help}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Used to be you got first option to buy your own seat for the cup games but after a certain date passes it goes on general sale.

I am never surprised by some sections of Newcastle supporters, before we started last season they were moaning that we would get relegated yet we finished 5th way way beyond anyone’s expectations, including my own. Now there are fans still moaning on saying we will finish outside of the top ten etc and that Ashley should go cause he has not splashed the cash blah blah blah. I think its time to be thankful for how far we have come in such a short space of time and to be realistic going forward. We have bought players, yes they are young, no we probably won’t sign any big named player in the transfer window and we should be more than happy to keep the players we have. I would be more than happy if we can finish in the top 6 and win a cup which we are currently in for three. I think some fans need to check their expectations for the club – we will not win the league for a long time and to finish in the top 4 is a massive step forward for any club and hard to do, see where we are at Christmas always a good indicator of which teams are doing what in the league.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

We did well last season because we signed some decent players in the window, which took us beyond some of the teams in our vicinity, (ie. the Fulhams, Evertons, Mackems, Villa etc.).
This season other teams have invested and so far we've done nowt.
Conclusion? We become one of the 'also rans' .... again.
As the old saying goes - stand still and you eventually go backward.

Agree5 Disagree2

Disagree with the first post, if you dont see that each season you need to re-invest with with some decent talent to stay in with the pasck then u need to give your head a shake. Top four is still some way off for us and i dont think ppl are talking about it. But keeping up with the pack is a must and that means re-investing in first team talent. doing nothing will not take us forward.

Agree2 Disagree0

If you are going to push on you need to keep improving. We are not asking the world. Just for 2/3 good players to keep us competitive. It is obvious to everyone where we can improve so why cant Ashley see it?

Agree2 Disagree0

Our team is getting stronger and gaining more premier league experience all the.... so that puts us in a much stronger position alone than this time last year ......but I would love to see some more top signings to push us on to a higher level even quicker

Agree0 Disagree1

I have never heard such a defeatist post, Why should Newcastle fans be happy to be a midtable team with no ambition? We have the 3rd Biggest stadium in the league so where do you come up with this idea that we should pull our porridge bowls back in and keep quiet. Newcastle has the Stadium, outlay, support, demographics to be a top club so I for one will be enforcing the idea that our club should be living up to its Giant status instead of pretending to be another average team. Lets be honest, It is a disgrace that most of the younger fans in football do not even recognise Newcastle as a big club as it has been that long since we lived up to our status, Most kids these days think we are like Fulham & Everton. (It is time the sleeping giant woke up)

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree last post and it is shocking that we have to keep making excuses for the no football sense owner
Some fans are happy we are still going I am not and want and expect more
Swansea Everton and a few more who can not or should not be able to hold a candle to us look like they are serious and we can expect some hard games from teams who think we are weak in certain departments!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said yes younger fans have no idea of the history of this club just like Cashley and older fans making excuses about the economic climate and some clubs that have struggled have sold their culture and passion down the river.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wrote the first post, at what point did I indicate lack of ambition? I clearly pointed out that there are a section of fans that have written off the season already! I said that I would be happy with finishing 6th and winning a cup, is that not ambitious? For F**k sake, im 36 and seen Newcastle go from nearly dropping into the 2nd division under Ozzy to nearly winning the premiership under Keegan and Sir Bobby. What I am talking about is stability, this is Pardews 2nd season, what do you really want? Ashley to pile loads of money into to the club on s**t players like Mr Shepard did? I don’t think so, we have bought in players and we have long term injuries back! We don’t need massive investment and as shown last season we wont pay stupid money on players i.e. Man U paying 23 million for a player who is 29 and in the last year of his contract! That’s madness. For me I would rather see us keep and develop the players we have now and only add to the squad if the price is right for the right type of player. I trust Graham Carr, his record speaks for itself and I trust the board to get the best deal for the club. Which they proved in getting rid of Carroll and bring in Cisse.

Agree1 Disagree0

Oh, and I forgot to say. I am sick of people banging on about how we are a big club! if your talking about stadium size and fan base then yes we are. But if you are talking about trophies then no we are not, we haven't won anything to shout about since the fair cup for god sake! I want Newcastle to be a top club, that has to start somewhere and winning a cup like I said in the first post is a start and shows ambition and is also a realistic target for Pardew's 2nd season. How long did it take Sir Alex to win his first trophy? oh yeah 5 years!

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course we are a big club...we've done everthing but in the last 50 years. runners up in cup finals, in league, champions league, uefa cup, europa league, championship winners(lol), big name signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are all singing from the same hymn sheet and want the same thing for our club, I think those of us who are critical of the original post are not critical of your sentiments, Trophies has nothing to do with being a big club, There are teams in the championship with plenty of trophies (That is Liverpool type fantasy thinking). Big clubs are clubs that are big right now, Good squads, Fortress home grounds and being a team other teams hate to see in the fixture list. We need 3 players to be that, We have watched the name of the stadium be sacrificed and accepted it under the thinking it will pay off if it pays for that extra player. (Which we are not getting) It is pretty simple, the club is big enough to not be buying and selling to break even on transfers every window, At some point you need to invest something if anything at all.

Talk in shearers bar at the minute that nufc are trying to steal gaston ramirez from under saints nose! Apparent squad replacement for arsenal bound tiote. Tiote going foe 18 million with 5 mill add ons and ramirez in for 12 million

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Why would we want to replace a defensive midfield destroyer with an attacking winger?

Agree6 Disagree0

Squad replacement not position as anitamisnhis direct placement.

So if anita is tiotes replacement... who is going to be cover for Anita and Cabaye? Gosling? Abied? come on

Getting sick of people defending Danny Simpson on here, personally i think Marge Simpson would do a better job, he is absoloutly crap. Can't cross to save his life, backs off and some of the stuff he does is beyond belief. Last season he backed of Aaron Lennon and a goal came from it, but two seasons ago the exactly the same playedr got the ball in exactly same posiition and yet again simpson the same player backed off, and the outcoe was the same the ball ended up in the back of our net. I'm sick of hearing about his goalline clearences aswell, is that all he can do. I would love to ask Alan Pardew what he sees in Simpson. I just hope we get Debuchy in cause he is sheer class, him and Santon are miles above Simpson and Ryan Taylor. I just hope we can get him in before August 31st, tb h id be willing to pay about £10-12 million for him, just aslong as we get him in.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I agree that we need Debuchy, Simpson looks like his head is somewhere else. I am still not convinced about Santon, He is great going forward and has a lot of pace which is what you need against wingers in todays game but he needs to work on his defensive duties. If it were my call to make I would have Gutierrez play left back as he works like an ox and can tackle which seems to suit him more than left wing, I cannot remember the last cross or pass into the box from Gutierrez that was turned into a goal.

Why cant we not play the mackems on 5th of february

This is what in my opinion might happen after reading a variety of articles and twitter feeds

Cabaye to Arsenal or Man Utd 15-20 mill
Collocini to Man City (if they fail to sign top target from Bilbao) 10-15mil

Ben Arfa to Stay
Tiote to stay

If this happens then Debuchy and Douglas in and a Midfielder (probably a suprise player lined up like Cisse was)

Newcasle also after a young striker someone with pace rather than height and power. Loic Remy fits this bill

Two out and four in. Stronger squad but weaker first XI.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I wouldn't believe anything in the press. Newcastle is a very tight lipped these days and everything you read and hear is pure speculation and gossip. Papers have to fill the sports page.

Not a rumour just a thought. If we can't get Debuchy I'd put a bid in for Jose Enrique and switch Santon to RB. If Rodgers fancied him he would have been in starting X1 sunday. {Ed052's Note - He was injured}

Believable1 Unbelievable4

If he was injured why did he come on off bench?

Agree4 Disagree0

Because he was injured for the previous match and Rodgers wanted to ease him back. You know it's probably not all a big conspiracy. it is a common tactic to not go to heavy on people coming back from injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely non of the other fans would want Enrique back, And Remember we only sold Enrique for below 15 Million because he only had a year on his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

He also left to join a club that finishes in the top 6... and we all know what happened there hahha
