Very disappointing result today, Martinez and his fantastic 3 at the back with the wing backs. That's where the game was won/lost. Nevertheless we got to see some more of that magic at Ben Arfa's feet, our defense was shambolic but he still made their players look like a joke with his dribbling. Turn it around for Chelsea, Howay the Lads!

HBA was great, but needs to work harder and pass the ball more!
Agree5

Remember his stunning ball to Cisse? He passes when it's right and our whole team was underperforming so I'm not surprised he just went it alone most of the time. He also works very hard and puts in some good tackles and defensive pressure. It's Williamson and Simpson who keep costing us games

Why the doom and gloom? Come on lads we are still flying, all the small lesser teams ie Wigan,Blackburn,Bolton,Wolves Sunderland are going to get shock giant killing results during the season. Look at the stadium of sh**e today, Sunderland drew with Bolton, thats only one example. Forward and on i say.

Didn't sunderland beat wigan 1-4 away you know the team that stuffed you today, some arrogance to put us in the same bracket as teams like wigan and wolves, bolton are fighting for their lives they just beat villa 1-2 at villa says it all, could be worse we could of just got hammered by wigan 4-0 SGB!

Your fantastic result against wigan didn't help you finish any higher though, you might make the top 13 this season ha ha ha ha

I always think when I see a bitter or clever comment from a mackem, 'what's your position in the league?' But never actually shared it, so there you go.

It's funny how this site has been virtually devoid of Mackems since january. Says it all really.
Agree2
Disagree2
Because us mackems are not obsessed with you geordies thats why, it's called proving a point as your lot are always making stupid comments on our page and we only stick to our page, I'm only on stating that after yesterday all you geordies seem to have come off our page for the night to drown your sorrows, sunderlands aim was never europe this season, it was finishing top ten but I think its amazing what O'neill has done for us after bruce could of had us relegated, serious craic though but how can you geordies blame pardews tactics? he played the same team that beat stoke 3-0. sounds a very bad excuse to me. True supporters would just say wigan were the better team and deserved the win, could of been 6-0 if it wasn't for Krul!anyway enjoy being obsessed with sunderland will be hearing from you on our banter page SGB!
Agree1

Nonsense. You muckems are always on here giving it some when we do badly. But the fact is, yesterday was the first time you've had an excuse for a very long while.
Agree1

After you were knocked out of the F,A. Cup, leaving us in it. Didnt you Geordie prats say that there was no point of Sunderland being in it if they couldnt win it?
Same apply, does it?
Is there any point being in Europe if you dont win it?
Jeez.
Agree2

"Is there any point being in Europe if you dont win it?"........
Of course there is. The chance to play in Europe is what most quality footballers aspire to.

Maloney was the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile. Moses isn't as quick as he appeared either, great dribbler and finisher though.

Agree about Maloney, but he is too injury prone. Moses is a great shout though at only 21

Lets give Wigan lots of credit guys, yeah we played pretty diabolically but they played well and totally deserved three points, now we will have to be rooting for the to teams beginning with B, Bayern Munchen and Blackburn, we need to bounce back from this defeat quickly like what a top club would do

Can somebody please explain why the smb's always end their posts with "ha ha let's all laugh at Newcastle!"? Is it some sort of inferiority complex or just a plea for help?

ED, with the financial fair play coming into force next season do you know if there are any teams in the top six struggling to comply with the rules? {Ed001's Note - they don't come into force next season, they have one more season and then it will be at the end of it. So plenty of time for teams to show less of a loss than they are this year and prove themselves to be moving in the right direction.}
