Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

Fantastic performance yesterday. The front 3 were absolutely lethal, and i thought Cabaye, Jonas and Perch were very good too. Only down point about the match was Colo getting injured, he's gonna be a big miss so hopefully he makes a quick recovery.

Team vs Liverpool:

Krul

Simpson Williamson Perch Santon

Tiote(if fit)
Cabaye Jonas

HBA Ba
Cisse

I hope I'm wrong, but I cant see us getting anything vs Liverpool. They've alway been that team that, no matter what form, alway pulls it out of the bag against us. And now that it looks like Colo is out, we look especially weak in the middle at the back.

Our only saving grace is that Tiote is back and he can offer a lot more cover for them than Guthrie can.

Yeah i have that feeling to. We always seem to bottle it against liverpool(except the home match last season).
But, we're the home, we're on better form than them and if we're up for it and put out the team i suggested above there is no reason why we cant beat them.

Yeah I'd be happy with that team really, definitely highlights out frailty in defence, so Williamson is definitely going to have to step up, and Perch is going to have to keep his form up to the standards set vs Norwich an west brom.

Hope the front three keep it up aswell. They looked absolutely terrifying on Sunday.

With our front 3 we look lethal. Ba and Cisse can finish, although I question Cisse's ability in a 1 v 1 situation, and in Ben Arfa we have someone who can dribble, provide and chip in with some special goal, it's a scary attacking line.

Cabaye and Tiote can match up to most midfield partnerships in the league.

Collo and Taylor had a great partnership prior to his injury in the Chelsea game, but another strong centre half would be great.

As much as it pains me to say it, Simpson has been good for us this season. More goal line clearances than anyone other player, so who knows how many points it has saved us this season. As well as a positive goal difference, which could be important at the end of the season.

But, for me, a new fullback is needed, along with a new centre half.

I'm am, however, a big admirer of Gutierrez. A tireless work rate and helped Ryan Taylor out no end in the first third of the season, probably at a detriment to his attacking ability. Which isn't as potent as has been in previous campaigns.

I would like to see a new winger with speed and ability to get the cross in and attack the fullbacks and get defenders panicking. I know we have this in Ben Arfa but having another player like this to play as a fully fledged winger would be nice to see.

Back up in the central midfield and players to fill the positions I have alluded to, would aid a good push for a top 4 finish next season.

Having said this, I wouldn't want us to go back to blowing huge amounts of money again.

I'd rather this was a steady and financially efficient process.

It seems we have a TEAM to be proud of.

Marvaux could be that winger if we can get his fitness right.

I agree I think technically he looks very good and hyas a bit of pace about him we just need to keep him fit.

Nathan redmond from birmingham would be a great signing for us. Hes young and has huge amounts of potential

He'll stay at brum next season if they get promoted. If not, then I imagine a few clubs would be after him. When brum have been on channel five this season, he's looked absolutely terrifying.

I like the look of the lad in the centre of the Park for them cant remember his name though

Thanks I guess, but prepare to be beaten again on Sunday.

Wouldnt it just be typical for us to blow it against liverpool.... swansea wbrom wolves... if only we had those 7 points

Agree4 Disagree0

Liverpool could say the same 8 draws at home if they were wins then they would have another 16 pts

What a brilliant first half, the top 3 are looking a different class and forming a great partnership. Ben Arfa looks like he is getting to grips with the style of play and the pressure of the league.

I just wish we had a bit more stamina in us as we always start looking really tired towards the last 20-30 minutes, and thats when we get vulnerable! The worrying thing is that looking round at the bench today there was no strength on there to come and settle the game and keep us going. Cant wait until we get some first team players back in tiote and RTaylor etc.

If we do get Europe we need to get some depth starting with a specialist CB and a utility defender. As well as another quality midfielder or 2 especially if Guthrie doesnt sign at the end of the season and Tiote goes. I think if anyone goes it will be Tiote and his fee should be in the region of 15-20m and more than enough to get 2 decent replacements.

Tremendous performance. Thought our work rate and attitude was top draw. Only one real slip which cost us but overall very happy with that performance. Perch is really starting to show good signs and could be a top utility player. Signs are good for the rest of the season.

Mike Ashley wouldn't let tiote go for 20mil, he's on a long term contract so I'd expect Ashley to milk the deal for at least 30 a lá Carroll.

Being honest, we looked a little like napoli out there, the front three dominating upfront, whilst the rest of the team did the defending and then got forward at times. was a great game, cissé could have nabbed a hatrick.
