Is it a lack of ambition or just plain stupidity that made us make such a low bid for someone who has proven to be one of the best CB's in the championship this season. The lad wants a move to the toon so make it happen MA! he'll be a great one for the future! Brumtoon

He is way to small for the epl that's way Newcastle are not going to pay silly money for a small centerback who is not proven at the highest lever!

Im sure it would be someone like you that would say signing a championship player shows no ambiton and is plain stupid, why are we not after puyol

It's called testing them mate, just see how they would react, also see how the player reacts, end up with a cheaper deal.

I don't think there was an intention in this window to buy a striker then S Taylor got injured and it is obvious we needed another defender. The opportunity then came to buy Pappis (which I am pleased we did) probably sooner than expected i.e in the summer. I just hope we are still in for a dender before the end of the window. We have got ourselves into a good position in the league and with some further investment we should be able to secure 7th position and maybe slightly higher. Ideally to strenthen the squad I thin we still need a centre half, left back (so Santon can play right back) and another midfielder. If the right player is available in this window I hope we would do everything to get him and not wait until the summer. It would be a shame if we dropped out of the top seven due to long term injuries to Collo and Williamson ( in my opinion a good back up but exposed to much to pace as shown against Fulham, although not just his fault) are only recognised central defenders. It's great to get Pappis but I have a feeling we won't be getting anymore players in. What do you all think?

We were always going to buy a striker this window, smoke and mirrors mate. Pardew said we bought Cisse with the money that was put a side for a striker last summer, hes still got 10m to spend so i honestly think there will be a good defender and sum1 for the midfield,

Im still waiting for all the people who came on here shooting everyone with s**t when they mentioned a striker coming in to come back on all red faced and hold their hands up and admit they were wrong! I said this at the time when i mentioned there could be a striker come in and got loads of abuse for it so il wait with baited breath but doubt there will be any takers!......spenny mag

Bentdner's injury is alot worse than first feared thats why he is out for a few weeks and Mignolets fractured his cheek and jaw, but now has to wear a face mask, now for the geordie child with the original post my keeper and striker are harder than your cheating defender! what a SGB baby

I see Senegal lost so one more game on the 29th and the Demba's will be back! I just hope losing to the 151st ranked team in the world hasn't dented their confidence too much!
