we just played chelsea who are european champions, away from home and lost 2 - 0 .we matched them for most of the game and never looked like been overrun. chelsea have improved their squad to the tune of 80m and you could tell ,hazard was class.i thought anita looks a tidy player and was unlucky with pen, will be quality when fully settled ,im not to concerned about lack of transfers as we have quality youngsters whom im looking forward to seeing, yeah i would like a couple more signings preferably defenders but i still think our squad is better than last season as long as we dont lose players...del

Believable3 Unbelievable2

That's aboot reet but we need 2/3 players
to even make top 1O

Agree2 Disagree1

Hee's a list of targets who you might get. Vanessa paradis, Charles De Gaulle, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Pepe Le Pew, Asterix th.e Gaul and The Eifel Tower. Good Luck

Agree4 Disagree3

No there all too old for the toon....but if blunderland had any decent scouts I bet moaneil would love too pay over the top for them

Agree1 Disagree2

We need 2 or 3 players to finish in the top 10? But we have the exact same squad added with better players who finished 5th. You do the maths.....

Agree2 Disagree1

Just heard sunderland just made a major signing ...2 dozen zimmer frames for their over 30s club...geordie tom

Agree0 Disagree2

We finished 5th last season and have not lost any players.

Ok how about this for some Math.

The other clubs around us have improved their squads and we have not improved ours, Now you do the Math.

Agree2 Disagree1

We have improved our squad. Anita, Lttle Tiote, Roman. The return of Marveux are all better than what left. Add to the fact our younger squad members have another years experience. So its not all doom and gloom. The only competition who have added to their squad is Chelsea.

Agree1 Disagree1

Mags are pap and soon you will see all ya so called big players gone like ma always wants more greggs ha sgb

I am sick of hearing about Carroll, he's not coming so i dont want to hear about him. I belive we are being left behind in this transfer window by teams who we'll be competing against at the end of the season. Even if we come through with Debuchy this week we will be short a 3rd striker and CB, our back up strikers are not up to the league standerd. I know that we dont want to waste money in bad transfers but i dont want to see last seasons good results a thing of the past.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Indeed we are left behind. I would be glad if we managed to get top 8. I can't see us coming ahead of any of the big teams or Everton with the thin squad we have.

Agree1 Disagree1

I would say we will be getting Carrol. Also Debuchy and douglas.

Agree3 Disagree1

We dont need Carroll. Or not for 17 million anyway! 10 mill max on a 3rd striker.

We need 2 signings. A forward comfortable playing on his own or as a front 3, and a quality CB to act as cover for Taylor a Colo.

A RB can wait until Jan or even summer next year as it doesnt looklike Simpson is going anywhere and if so we have Perch, Anita and R Taylor who can all do as good a job as him.

Why is pardew selecting Jonas al THE time? Hè is THE worst player in THE premier league. Hè is not good enough for THE bench. I want marveax in THE first 11.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Are you taking 'THE' p*ss.
hes our team engine. he would run all day if he had too, he gives 110% for the shirt and fans.

Agree5 Disagree1

You obviously haven't been watching the first 2 games with a comment like that. Ben arfa aside he has been our best player.

Agree4 Disagree0

Tean engine.....he may run all day but there is no end project, he gets in the way of Santon when Santon goes forward, he falls over easily I cant remmeber the last time that he created a goal for us....on saying all that I like him as a person I also like Shola and I like Simpson who also does a lot of running with no end result they should all go.

Agree2 Disagree2

Is running much the onoy thing you need in modern football. If that's THE case, Carr can scout at the marathon.

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree we need more creativity Ben Arfa can't always do it in his own.

Agree1 Disagree0

Would this be the same carr who other scouts follow about......

Hope we get Liam Moore of Leicester. Great potential, He is 19 and he plays in the 1st team for Leicester.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

We have signed potential time for quality and experience to take us forward

Question to fellow fans after watching the games towards the end of last season and the first few games of this season, Is it time to say maybe the time is right for Andy Carroll to return?

Newcastle are playing long ball football with Cabaye given the green light to whip the ball forward nearly everytime he is given an inch, Ba and Cisse are too similar and are chasing shadows where as Andy Carroll would be onto these balls like a battering ram.

Ideas?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

He could certainly provide plenty of knockdowns in our set up at times.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Aug 2012 09:57:47
We will struggle if we keep sitting back and let teams come to us Cabaye Jones and Anita rarely ventured into chelsea half and i cant remember any of them in chelsea penalty area. we need someone other than BenArfa who will run at defenders. 2 0 down take off cabaye and put on perch what was that all about

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Sorry...Jonas

Agree0 Disagree0

Benny was best on the pitch for us yesterday ,what you on mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just before the substitution when Chelsea had a free kick Cabaye told the bench he needed too be subbed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you go the game or even watch it. He went off just before half time injured fool.... Did well to come back out second half

Can anyone tell me why we are not interested in signing Jordan Rhodes? Surely he fits the ethos of the club in that he is young talented and won't cost the earth. I think it is plain to see from the Chelsea game we need extra options up front if we are to get anywhere near the top six again

Hey Toons fans. Just wondering when does the Transfer Window close? is it this Friday or Saturday? PLEASE POST THOS SO WE ALL KNOW FOR SURE PLEASE ED {Ed001's Note - Friday at 11pm, though it can take the FA days to work through all the paperwork.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lets hope we are all smiling during the Aston Villa game... with all our players and a few more.

This will be sunderlands midfield and strikeforce from monday I think it is better than newcastles on paper and we will wait and see on the pitch.

Cattermole dm

Johnson rm sessegnon am dempsey am mclean lm

Fletcher or saha or llorente lol.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

The day Llorente goes anywhere near Sunerland I will eat both my balls.

Agree4 Disagree1

The closest Llorente will get to Sunderland is when hes playing against Newcastle in Europe.

Agree4 Disagree2

Heard sunderland making a marquee signing this week watch this space, Dempsey within 48hrs, laugh if you may but I heard it's a striker

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2012 01:54:51
Yesterday showed how much Debuchy is needed, Simpson had lots of space to run into especially in the second half but he just doesn't know what to do.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Simpson to blame yet again! Anita was at fault for both goals and always played the short conservative ball (usually badly). We looked tired out there and had very few options on the bench to wake us up - when Obertan is your best option up top, you have to worry. I'm as positive and hopeful as the next fan, but we are three games in and ALREADY (!) our squad has shown how thin it is.

Agree3 Disagree0

When the ball arrives at impson the first thing he does is stop. second thing looks back to see who he can pass to. third thing pass back. if he takes a throw in its allways backward

Agree2 Disagree0

Thought we did Well in 2nd half lets face it penalty never was & Torres should not have beed on the pich to score the 2nd divina All over the place Surely the officilals know his game by now
Yes with out 2/3 players I think we will struggle to make the top 10

Agree0 Disagree1

It was a pen ,though he did make a meal of it.

Agree1 Disagree0

I didn't blame Simpson for losing or for either goal, I'm just saying that Debuchy or a more attack minded RB could have made better use of the space that was there.

anita world class after that performance he is a basic player and all you mags that were buzzin last year will have your head in ya hands by the end of the season wonderin where its all gone wrong lol your luck has ran out so do one back down to 15th at ya best. pardew one hit wonder, sacked from southamton, mon proven class,so work it out who will end off on top you sgb. sunderland till i die xx

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Because we got beat off the European champions our luck has run out. It shows you know nothing about football you fool. And as for mon as soon as there is a disagreement with the board he will chuck his toys out the pram and walk our.

Agree6 Disagree2

Wow.... we loose at Chelsea and the mackem crystal ball comes out predicting doom and gloom for the toon... ha ha... is that the same one that predicted last august Blunderland to be top 4,5,6,7 and relegation for the toon.....paying greatly inflated prices for average players doesn't guarantee success at least the toon have learned that lesson

Agree3 Disagree1

You get all this wisdom from one defeat...smb at least we can manage to get a game played on our pitch not like your sunday league pitch that floods after a shower yer looser lol

Agree2 Disagree1

Typical deluded mackem judging a player after one game. Apart from his mistake he had a decent game. He will come good. Only Sunderland buy Dross. How is your sunday morning ground, still flooded?

Agree4 Disagree1

Oh you poor brainless mackem. First off all, it takes time to settle into the premier league. Anita was thrown in against the current champions of Europe in only his 2nd game in English football so he can be forgiven for playing well below par. Besides, I doubt Sunderland will do much better when you go to the bridge. You sign one good player and you act as if you're gonna win the title (Note: that's AJ not Fletcher - 15million for an exceedingly average striker in a team that was relegated just makes me laugh). And if mon is so class, why hasn't he won either the Premier League Manager of the Season or LMA Manager of the Season awards?

TAJSG21

Agree3 Disagree0

Are you seriously judging the acquisition of one player on a single performance? Really?! Please use your brain before you post tripe on the internet

Agree2 Disagree1

Have to laugh at posts like this. You have signed an average striker which has cost an arm and a leg! Then Johnson, who really hasn't justified his price tag at city. All he has shown is that he is a good impact player off the bench.

Point is you have paid about 20 million for two players. With 20 million we got Ba, Cabaye, Cisse, Santon plus tied down three of our top players (Krul, Colo & Tiote). Have a word you SMB

Agree1 Disagree2

Poor deluded smb.ur team is crap at best ur manager well enough said about him, we may not do aswell as last season but it will still be better than anything u stinkin useless trogs will do

Agree0 Disagree1

Ok so playing chelsea and loosing when torres and Hazard are in that kind of form. Anita was unlucky, and will get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard this last year when mon arived and still never happend.....intresting FACT here epl has been around 20 years 17 of them safc where no where at all infact fizzy pop league for nearly 10 of them..yes we overachieved last year but derserved it wheres you lot underachieved year in year out....u buy one player who would rather party than play and who could not hold a place down in the champions team and another over priced striker for twice what he,s worth and thats it, its done your touching europe and safc only after turn up and play and they have won......are you having a laugh come back in january lets just see where you are then the epl,s best header of the ball according to safc transfer rumours site....haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh the Sunderland crystal ball is back out...How did that work for you last season? You sign 2 average players and you come out from under your rock. SMB. Anita had a solid game and I am very confident he will be a very good player when he settles.

Agree2 Disagree0

Cant even sort ya pitch out you smb, ha ha now jog on

Agree2 Disagree0

We got well beaten off the European and FA Cup Champions after an away game in Greece less than 48hrs before. Not to mention that if we had taken our chances that came our way then things could have been completely different. That's not me defending my team as I don't think we played well enough to win but I do pity you single minded fans who jump after one game. Anita has just signed, he needs a month or so to show his qualities. Wind your neck in my unwashed friend. Who finished higher last season? Who took more points from one another last season? Who qualified for a European competition last season? As much as I don't like to live in the past, if your gonna come on here and go on about spout utter sh*t, I felt a few facts had to be put in place. We really put the Cat amongst the Pigeons last year and we still have the same squad with a few extra youngin's so pipe down, 'luck' as you lot say has nothing to do with it. Did anyone else realize the amount of rain that fell across the whole of Britain yesterday and the game was the only one to be postponed? Amateurish...

Agree1 Disagree0

Same old makems, same old banter then come the derby games and at end of season you all go into hiding. Remember your passports for Swansea, you can pretend your playing in Europe!

Agree2 Disagree0

If you think Anita is only a basic player then Moley and Gardenflower are championship players at best.

Agree1 Disagree0

At least Anita is the right side of 30. And also we paid only 6 million him so didn't overpay like you mackems for a championship at best striker (ps Fletcher is relegation curse for his team burnley, wolves) all this overpaying will catch up with you mackems. Also if we finish 15th your lot will surely be relegated.
You cannot even get the drainage sorted at SOL nevermind the team.
"have you ever seen a mackem in Milan"
Just stating facts not looking for argument.

Agree0 Disagree0

The same anita who dod not want to talk to safc........

Agree0 Disagree0

Mon has said we dod not want to speak to him, we scouted him, like we have scouted 100s of players. Mon didnt rate him, your lot do, good luck.
Hope he plays as well next match.

Jeez.

With no striker on the bench today it was a hard shift for Cisse. I know he played on Thursday but it's obvious we need decent back up. AP must know this surely!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Pardew said after the game when asked if Carroll would be coming he said no but maybe a younger striker.

Agree2 Disagree0

Where was Campbell?
