What do people think to fat HBA? Injury prone and now piling on weight. Reminiscent of Ronaldo. (Brazilian)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I think its probab;y natural.

If he's not training/playing he will put wieght on, Hamstring injuries usually mean no physical activity.

I expect he will be fit by the end of the season, and start an early pre season to catch back up with the rest of the squad before main pre season begins.

BTW I cannot see him being sold because the fee we would demand I suspect would be 10m at least. and I cannot see anyone taking that sort of risk on someone who has been injured this much this season. Probably more likely to go next Jan if ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like a typical media witch hunt, He can put on weight while he is out injured for all I care, his season is over anyway.

So long as he is back next season doing what he does best, I am not bothered.

There may be a silver lining to that little cloud too, it will put other clubs of bidding for him, and I think we can all agree that he is our most devastating player. He puts the fear of God into other teams.

Players with speed and flare like ben arfa are never the same once they get hamstring injuries look at Michael owen guy was never the same

''Players with speed and flare like ben arfa are never the same once they get hamstring injuries look at Michael owen guy was never the same''

One example, One! in the whole sport of football?

It was not one injury that ruined Owen, it was 'all' the injuries that ruined Owen, and there were many of them.

And to add to the point, Owen's game was all about his speed, he was never a great dribbler, he was not an assassin shooting from outside the box. Without that extra yard of pace Owen was pretty much useless.

How you can relate Owen to Ben Arfa is way over my head, they are in not similar in anyway.

If you were going to compare a player to Owen it would be Walcott.

Agree3 Disagree1

Not comparing owen to ben arfa what i'm saying players whos game rely on speed are never the same once hamstring goes if you have pulled one its bad enough

Agree0 Disagree0

The injury that did Owen was a knee ligament. Most players tweek a hamstring without it ever being too serious.

Agree0 Disagree0

So what your saying is HBA has the Albert Luque syndrome?

He tore his hamstring when he was with us and he was never the same again. Apparently he didn't even rare run his fastest after he did it, just in case he did the same again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not say that Ben Arfa is mind blowing fast anyway.

Ben Arfa can beat players by turning them inside out.

He has never been a player to knock the ball past someone and run like a greyhound for it.

''BTW I cannot see him being sold because the fee we would demand I suspect would be 10m at least''

^ Are you crazy? We probably paid close to that for him, and that was a bargain because he had a broken leg at the time.

It would take over 20 million as a starting bid for Ashley to even take a call.

LMAO at;;]]; 10 million.

Agree5 Disagree4

20 mill give ye head a shake ye wouldn't get 10 for him its like the pre season crack after last seasons over achievement 20 plus for tiote wouldn't get 5 cabaye might get 6 or 7 cisse ye would make a loss even thou krull not been outstanding ye might get 7 or 8

Agree1 Disagree2

We paid 2 million for him. (Bargain much?!)

^ You Sunderland fans are terrible at a wind up job.

Surely you can do better than that?

Hi eds, could you compile a list of players that have the strongest links to Newcastle moves in the summer? If you have the time of course! {Ed003's Note - No}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I beleive from what I've read/heard on numerous occasions.

OUT:
Collocini (Club willinmg to take a hit on the fee in order to save approx 10 mill over the remaining four years of his contract on wages)
Gosling
Simpson
Amalfitano
Abeid
Harper

In:

Young Goalkeeper (Dutch U21possibly Jeroen Zoet from PSV)
I also expect that's there is a lot in the Pierre Emerick Aubameyang I don't see why else Ashly would personally watch him, other than he's checking the value as could be big money.
I think we will see a young CB come in (Could be anyone) to play under Taylor & YMB - although I personally believe we should pursue a proven CB. I wouldn't expect anything else big after that, couple of young fringe players from abroad of Haidara's stature most likly a Winger and a Forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

We would save 10 mil on Colo's wages if he was sold anyway, that is what happens when a player is sold, you do not page their wages anymore.

What difference does that make if we give him away for free, we are still losing out on around 8 million for a fee.

There is no way you can do the Maths that shows that giving Colo away for free is anything but us throwing money down the drain.

Colo has a contract, if he wants out of his contract he can buy himself out or find a club that will pay a fee for him, Otherwise contracts at Newcastle are worth nothing, and everyone can start leaving for free.

Newcastle is a football club that is trying to get ahead, we are not a charity home to make players millionaires and then throw away millions of our own capital on players who get homesick or have a domestic with the old lady.

Agree2 Disagree0

I didn't say give him away for free I expect 2-3 million he is in this 30's and there is no way we would get 8 mill for him, that's why we take the hit and save on wages

Agree0 Disagree1

Who can say for sure that Ashley was there to watch PEA? Could have been some other player, not yet being mentioned. And what does Ashley know about scouting? He has to trust Carr and perhaps Pardew.

Agree1 Disagree0

We are not pulling of a coup by saving his wages, we are losing a very valuable player with no money to buy a replacement.

This San Lorenzo deal is a joke, this is one time I am glad Ashley is at the club, I highly doubt he is going to give San Lorenzo one of the best centre backs in the world for peanuts.

Let them mortage their stadium, or a 10% cut of every player they sell until the Colo fee is fully paid, there is always a way.
