Come on what did we do under them? Good old Shearer got £40 million in Wages off Newcastle for what. Nothing 2 Cup finals where we were beat before we went. Then when he took us down he wanted £4 million a year to manage us, Tell me would you give Shearer £4 million to Manage your club (which by the way is more than Bobby Robson was on)

Shearer was with us for many years and if you don't recall was the world record transfer when we signed him. He turned down Barca and Manchester United on more than one occasion and deserved every penny he walked away with as a player.
Look i'm not Saying he was good when we got him but we should of sold him to Liverpool when they wanted him which Robson was going to do, but no Shepherd got rid of Robson. Towards the end of his career with us he did not score a goal from open play for 12 months he was shot. The bloke is a nob they even took Milburns goals from during the war off him so Shearer became top scorer for the club. I bet he loved the txt he got off Dabizas when he won the Euros

Why does winning things matter so much to players and fans? Who will remember those players like Roger Osborne (yes who?) who won a Cup winners medal and nothing else, or players like Ray Kennedy who was weighed down with medals whereas Shearer will always be the legend and never forgotten.
