Does anyone else think that all of the Carroll talk is a smokescreen for us signing another player? I mean how often do we let anyone know who we are buying before it happens and the player arrives for his medical?

Benzema.......

Agree2 Disagree2

It's Messi man ! Why wouldn't he want to join the Toon ? Everyone does and I hear dispensation has been secured so you can play with 17 players !

Agree0 Disagree0

We do not make smoke screens just make stupid offers to see if any are accepted
Nothing wrong with a bargain but our amature way of getting Carr to set them up and alerting everyone by dismal offers is a complete joke as is Llambias negotiating

Agree4 Disagree2

Benzema lololol that has made my mroning

at the moment we can start this team against Spurs, so lets not panic, they will come in

Krul
simpson STaylor Colo Santon
Cabaye Tiote Marveaux

Ben arfa Ba Cisse

subs Harper Tarvier williamson Jonas Abied SAmeobi

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Think Bigirama would be on that bench and possibly Obertan. Would also think Jonas would start over Marveaux initially.
...Oh and by the way the full back is Tavernier.
Would like to see Debuchy, Anita and Remy in that squad though but it seems like we can't even crack a walnut at the moment.

Agree1 Disagree2

Where is Amalfitiano, Obertan, Gosling and I personally think Vuckic is better than Abeid.

Agree1 Disagree3

I think the hype about Vuckic is premature. I've never seen anything to suggest he will be top class. Yeah he is young but every time he has played he doesn't seem special to me.

Agree6 Disagree3

Obertan should join up with Joey at Fleetwood that level would suit him better.

That's true^

So frustrating that players that newcastle are Heavily linked with, 90% of the time fall through, why cant there be some good news for a change that weve actually signed someone big named

Believable5 Unbelievable2

So now we have basically signed Curtis Good and I believe it is a good signing but for the future, what about now? We will not get Debuchy or Douglas because we cannot come to an agreement with their clubs. We did not get De Jong. Remy is to expensive for us. So the question is, will we get anyone for our senior squad? We are in desperate need of a LB and a CB. And even more desperate about getting one more striker. What if Senegal qualifies to ACON? Then we only have Shola as our only real striker. We will be doomed. I really do not understand how the board is thinking, spend some money because we desperately need to add to the squad. I do not even dare to think of what it would be if we loose Ba or any other of our better players.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Calm down man. There's an absolute age before the transfer window shuts!

Agree8 Disagree4

If the board would act like you we would end up paying way to much for players cuz clubs know we are desperate then

This season is very important to us was last season a fluke or do we have a good team that over the next few seasons could be challenging for a Champion league place. I think a good team and I assume so does the likes of Krul, Collo, Cabaye, Tiote and Cisse as they seem happy.

However if we don't invest and improve the team/squad this season and we drop done to mid table at best will there attitudes be the same in 12 months.

Over the last two years our transfer policy has been spot on together with C excellent scouting. However, since this is now well publicised the attitude of selling clubs has changed with regard to us take Lille they must now be kicking themselves for what they sold Cabaye for and they won't let Debuchy go to us cheap, the same with FC Twente we got Tiote at a great price so they won't let Douglas go cheap (don't mind in this case don'y want him).

I believe for this season only we should not be stupid but pay the price to get the players we want/need to improve.

We have already lost Lovenkrands, Smith, Best, Gutherie and Forster bringing in approx 5m and saving approx £140,000 a week in wages. Looks like Simpson will go and hopefully Ranger as well. We have signed Banga and Almo for approx 1m but really this season they should be suad players mainly playing in cup games as should Albeid and Taverner (who both have looked good in pre-season so far).

I think in order to compete for 4th place (top three will be Man C, Man U and Chelski) which is achievable with hopefully us, Arsenal (won't be as good without RVP), Spurs (who knows under AVB), Liverpool (not sure if Rogers is good enough, their squad isn't better than us) and possibly Everton are fighting for that 4th spot.

We need a centre half although Taylor is good, to injury prone (played approx 25 games last two seasons), Williamson a squad paler at best would not get in any of the above mentioned teams. A fullback is also a most could be left or right as Santon can do both and we have good squad back up with RTaylor, Perch and Ferguson. Creative midfield to compliment Cabaye (we could struggle if he gets injured) and Tiote (regularly booked). Another striker to rotate with Ba and Cisse (maybe two if Ba does leave).

I would sign Remy (max 13.5m) better option than say Carroll, movement, skill etc. M'bia or Sakho max 7.5m, Debuchy max 6.5m if not Cissoko or Peiters. If Ba goes I would go for Gamero. Finally Affalay for 7m or Lens 5m.

This is almost certainly pie in the sky and at best in reality we probably won't sign more than two players but for an outlay of 30-35m less 5-7m monies in I believe a squad like this could challenge for the few years.

Just would like your thoughts

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Yes we need lots of new players as you say but we will not get any of these that you write about.

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree with all that you have said here, the players to get in are the the ones I'd go for as well. If only they would spend 30.mil but can't see us spending more than 20 .mil if that. But to push for top 4 we need some more quality.

Agree3 Disagree0

We have realy only lost Best and Guthreie.....Smith and Forester never played and Lovenkrands sat on the bench and didnt do much when he did come on we have Almafitano and Bigthingie to take the place og Guthrie and best so at the moment we are on a par for last season..two or thre good signings and all will be well

Agree3 Disagree2

"Bigthingie" - class. I'm getting that put on my shirt.
