Erdings record is average at best why are we putting so much effort into signing him? Am I the only one thinking we should be pushing for Welbeck? Lets face it he's not going to get a game ahead of Tiny Cabbage erm I mean Little Pea, Rooney and co, surely SAF would be tempted to sell for a similar price to what were allegedly bidding for Erding and I cant see his wages being sky high, not to mention his best mate is already here (simmo)

When Jose goes I would put good money on Van Aarnholt being his replacement aswel, no sources just reading between the lines ;)

Would be pleased to get them 2 in then maybe a couple of young squad players......

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Carr sees Erdinc as a similar type of player as Bellamy. High work rate, pacy and creates space and chances for others. Bellamy was always worth more than just his goals. Dom.

The crack is we won't sign anyone of any class because they'll want high wages, even our own players have started to whinge, Ashley out, sharpish, or were doomed.............FACT And well said Jose

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Although i agree with what you say for the simple fact we wont get any class (as theres no point arguing about that coz we both know its true), Ashley has done a lot of good for the club too, he is finally starting to get the books in order as the club was bleeding money when he came in.

As for Jose... well hes damaged the potential transfer value we could get for him, after all what kind of team would play £10 mill for an unsettled player from a team like newcastle... hes most likely going to leave for about £5 mill now, maybe less as he is unsettled, which always pulls the price of a player down.

What you think ED?

{Ed042's Note - As regards Ashley, will reserve proper comment for a lengthy post.. as far as signings go, think we do have one surprise up our sleeve before season kick off, and im not talking about Erdinc.. Jose has let the side down have to say, was his biggest fan until recent times, but hasnt conducted himself well at all.. in relation to his fee its simple, two months ago was said to be worth 12 to 15m, now is worth maybe 8m? longer a player that wants to go doesnt the value just drops and drops, if hes forced to stay the year, we have a player that doesnt want to be here playing all season and then goes for free, would have loved to see him sign and stay a couple more years, but isnt going to happen now, all we can hope for is a sale asap to use toward a signing or two}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the same old same old with some of these players They use the same excuse all the time Look at tevez he wants away but people now wont buy problem players and enrique is doing the same thing Ask for transfer and deal with it when or if an offer comes in but stay silent and keep your respect or lose peoples respect for you I liked enrique but he showing us he just another whinging money grabbing mercenary like Zog Carroll Tevez Ronaldo Nasri etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

Totally agree on the above post - typical money-grabbing primadonna players. How anyone believes Carroll's account of events is beyond me - "Llambias told me to hand in a transfer request so i had no choice". Really, Andy? You must have been soooo scaaared. When you're sitting on a brand new lengthy contract, there's bugger all Llambias could do. He, like Jose, had his head turned by a promise of massive money at Liverpool and didn't give it a second thought. Lets face it, Carroll was a prat in a chrome Range Rover who glasses folk in bars and beats up his girlfriend (er allegedly) but he happened to be our no. 9 - under any other circumstances, you wouldn't p1ss on him if he was on fire. Hardly salt of the earth. Jose seems like a much more decent fella but he's just a footballer who feels little for anything other than the next pay-cheque. This whining about Ashley's policy is just a smokescreen to curry favour with the fans and reduce his price tag to engineer a move. Dom.

An explosion of emotion and opinion as of late, passion is great to see no matter the standpoint.. have to say though, very interesting times, in all my years as a toon never have a seen such a clear divide between the fans, interesting stuff

Been a few days since I wrote something of substance, been mad busy, but hope to get a chance tonight or tomorrow.. In the meantime theres a couple on here that sign their posts, would be interested in hearing what they think on...

1.. The US Tour And Season Prep, Good Or Bad?
2.. The Squad As It Stands, Season Expectations
3.. Opinion On Ashley And Plans For The Club
4.. Transfer Activity And Signings, To Date And Future

So if WelshToon or Psycho have the time, let me know what you think lads... and anyone else with a good insight that can leave the abuse aside and talk football, be good to hear what you have to say.. that includes Gary Rowell from the darkside too.. cheers lads

KRTOON

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ok krtoon 1.. on the us tour in my personel opinion it can work 2 ways the players wont get any physical games so injuries should be 2 a minimum but how the jet lag affects the team for the opening games will only tell if the prep has been well thought of. 2.. the squad as it stands should be ok in the league next season though most clubs would have said that last season but 2 of promoted sides including yourselves stopped up. 3 on ashley the guy is a shrewd business man but the us tour i think its a ploy by ashley to promote the club for a sale. 4 on the transfer activity i dont follow french football mate but i think ba was a good signing the other lads not too sure about. i think ye will go into market again to replace enrique who looks destined to leave and i think ye definately need another striker if i was a mag i would like to see one or both of the signings with some english experiance maybe a shane long who i would also like at sol.
p.s i think all fans look at the teams who come up as relegation material but in my opinion over the last few years the gap between promoted sides and those outside the so called top six has closed.
one gary rowell

Agree1 Disagree0

Its clear for all to see we're lacking the ability to score goals, 3 games 2 goals and if you minus the Darlington game we've probably had about 5 shots on goal over 180 minutes. We need strikers who can score goals. Enrique should be used as bait to lure Chamakh and/or Bendtner to us. Personally would love to see us move for Van Aanholt and another left back as well as Clyne. Hey a Geordie can dream I guess

Agree0 Disagree0

1. US tour hasnt gone fantastic to be honest. Barton, Cabaye( 2 massive players for us) and Ranger not getting visa's, Ben Arfa injury, Enrique's outburst and also the fact the performances havent been great. Hopefully its helped our fitness levels and sharpness at the very least.

2. The squad is in decent shape i think as we've added some quality, pace and youth to the team. Still think we need another striker, a left back, and another centre back.
I think we will finish around 10th to 8th.

3. We all know Ashley and LLambias are liars. To be honest though i agree with his transfer policy(wage cap etc) as i think in the past(Shepard) the club was run terribly and was a financial mess. We bought in some absolute dross for ridiculous fee's and on ridiculous wages and then getting relegated made things even worse, so i can understand ashley wanting young, hungry players on cheaper wages and with a potential sell on value. However i dont like Ashley lies and the fact he promised "every penny of the £35 million would be spent" even though everyone knew it wouldnt be. Im not even bothered if "every penny" is spent or not just aslong as we get in quality in areas we need. We also need to advance as we improve, for example as we get back to the level where we should be (top 6), we can higher the wage cap, spend a bit more on transfer fee's etc.
In the end Ashley needs to just stop spouting BS and be honest with the fans, i think thats what angers us most.

4. So far pleased with who we have brought it, especially Cabaye. Dont mind us selling Nolan, he was a great captain and leader for us, scored some important goals and i wish him well, but i think it was the right time to move him on due to him being a very average footballer/athlete and him wanting a 5 year deal(too long for his ability and high wage demands). We all know Enrique is gonna go which is dissapointing. So we need a striker(Erdinc?) and a new left back(M'Bengue/Van Aanholt?) minimum.
Ideally another centre back and another winger too but that probably wont happen.

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on with comment 3 Both are bare faced liars but i agrre with the stance the club having regarding finances

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you believe that we will end up 8-10th with the squad we have right now? Lets look at out squad without Enrique and I say we have a squad that is among the 5 worst in the league. We will end up down there if we don?Ç t get it in 3-4 quality players with one left defender, one center defender and two strikers. Just look at the pre-season games, we don?Ç t have anyone to score our goals. HBA and Ba are not our rescuing angels and the big scores some hope them to be. I love newcastle and I hate to see them having to fight at the bottom of the table this season when it is a team that should be fighting for top 6.

Agree0 Disagree2

Mate try reading my post again in full, including the parts where i suggest who we might bring in.
If we bring in the right players we have a good chance of finishing top 10.

Heard James Perch turned down a move to Barca in order to stay and fight for his place at us.
Barca offered us a pack of salted peanuts for Perch, which was immedietly accepted by the club but Perchy turned down the move as he thinks Barca lack ambition and he'd rather knuckle down and battle Ryan Taylor for a place on our bench.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Exactly what i heard on TalkSport lol (WelshToon)

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Steve Stone was training with the players cause we only have 1 left back until Dummett arrives no intention what so ever to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure they need some specials for the circus why don't you go?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure if SS was to register himself he would only be linked witha move away as all the other players seem to be

Agree0 Disagree0

Smb again wait till 2nd game or decond defeat for them sack the nose and get some joker in watch ya backs m8

Agree0 Disagree1

Ooh i think we hit a raw nerve there mate think you should stick 2 the facts mate and stop fanticising fact is yous are becomin a laughin stock AGAIN and the season hasnt even started yet ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Not up ere mate Everyone still too busy laughing at the black rats for getting whalloped by a team that as you lot say is and was a shambles Still funny when i think of you lot giving it large about how bad we are yet we gave you a lesson and you still call us bad

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that mean stevenage are better than yous ? one result doesnt make a season you loon

Agree0 Disagree0

In that game yes But we didnt say we were a better side and that stevenage were a shambles But we did say we whalloped you lot

Pardew wants at least one more big signing? I wish that guy would just keep quiet because the more he speaks to the press, The more stupid he looks and tells the fans what they want to hear with very little follow through. He is a puppet The next time I want to hear from him is once we've signed a player. If you don't say anything, you can't be made to look a fool. I sincerelywish you (pards) the best of luck for the remainder of the transfer window because I don't think you're a bad manager, I'm just sick of hearing you're nonsence. Less talking and more results mate, you need to stand up to MA

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Well said mate, but still feel the team wont be ready for start of season, to thin on the ground for me. hope am wrong

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeh we need more like 3 or 4 signings than 1 esecially if enrique leaves and yeh i agree pardew is just trying to keep the fans happy but the fact is untill players come in the door he can say what he likes.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 17:00:14
do we think erding would be a good signing for the toon
???

Believable1 Unbelievable2

He can be no worse than who we have at the moment

Agree1 Disagree0

Would reasonable u just know that the club and ashley will claim it is a big signing when lets be honest he couldnt even get in the team last season a psg.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't get in the team?? he was their player of the season last year and the year before so he must have played for them

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he did Last year i agree his appearances were down from the year before but that was due to the fact he had 2 injuries that kept him out at the start and in mid season

Agree0 Disagree0

Its typical attitude of some of my fellow mags on ere to have a go at a player who might be signing for us before he actually has Come on lads give the players coming in a chance to show us if they any good or we will be protesting at the first game of the season at this rate Its pathetic Only 2 players have left and we have brought in 4 so the numbers are adding up ok and if we get another striker we back in the game

Agree0 Disagree1

He's a good player and it could be that his game is better suited to the Premiership than Ligue 1.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he would be a good signing and shouldnt be too hard for him to settle if you see how physical the turkish league is he would get goals

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 16:52:04
apparently we put bids in for players that are half of other clubs valuation, make it known to the press that we are interested knowing we havnt got a chance of getting them.just to keep the fans off their backs whilst they pocket our money..want proof watch united for newcastle on your computer

Believable5 Unbelievable2

25 Jul 2011 16:34:09
any one seen "united for newcastle" on youtube, insite on how the clubs been ran watch it and make up your own mind all nufc fans must watch all football fans of other clubs sould watch

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There a set of lying bar stewards.how can anybody believe a word Ashley/Lambias/Pardew say.ALP their combined name are shown up by respected people in football you must watch

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are strugglin to find this video type chris mcquillans united for newcastle its about 5 hours old,

{Ed042's Note - Seen it there, well put together video lad, worth a watch}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a load of clips collected over the last 18 month or so designed to have a pop at the club from some fans group who think that they have the power to oust the owner Although i agrre we have been lied to and constantly let down by these people i think destabilising the club at every opportunity is wrong of us fans The club will almost certainly be sold at some point when MA can get a good price for it but until then we should be supporting OUR CLUB and backing the players not slamming everything that goes on Thats the club and the colours not MA It does us or the team no good bleating on all the time

Agree0 Disagree0

Keegan walked out twice when things werent going his way Yes he had reason the 2nd time but showed his true colours since then by constantly digging out NUFC me for one dont care what he has to say As for respected people in football, it was chris waddle and ian holloway Yes holloway has everyones respect but waddle just an ex player who bleats for the money and the cameras

sitting here in turkey ...its ffing roasting ...badly bont . me hotels full of germans..the foods sh..e...me blistas have bosted ..ah come on here allll i see is people griping aboot ashley pardew etc etc ..wait till window shuts see if we get any players in the ill be the forst to come on here shouting the odds .so why dont we wait and see ....keep the faith HWTL

Believable1 Unbelievable0

By the time the window has shut is to late we will not be able to do anything and will have to rely on a squad that lets be honest minus a few as about championship standard and by jan it may be to late for us to do anything about it.

Agree2 Disagree1

Sick of hearing keep the faith

Agree1 Disagree0

Well get used to it cos its what all fans do from season to season unless they move on to another club glory supporting Not just us keeping the faith its every fan

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 14:35:17
Jose always said that he would wait and see what happens with players coming in before committing. Nothing happening He will more than likely be replaced with a 2m championship player We had a good 1st season back and should be building on that But we are not. Ashley HAS sold the fans short again. Never mentioned wages and training ground when he said the 35m would be re-invested. Cabaye the only real signing and that was with the Nolan money. Get Bartons contract sorted too. Bring in a RB, CB and LB for Jose or player exchange. 2 more strikers and maybe a winger Psycho

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Pleased im not the only one worried about the lack of numbers in defence

just want to say if we dont get erdinc i think it might be an idea to play s.taylor up front probs better than ameobi, lovenkrans, best and ranger better goals to game record last season :)

Believable4 Unbelievable0

And get Joey alongside him haha

Agree0 Disagree0

We would but weve got no defenders

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 13:31:50
Let me be the first to say it GET OUT OF OUR CLUB JOSE What have we become holding onto hope that a player who obviously doesnt want to be here will sign a new deal, same as judas carroll and owen if u ask me As much as i rate him if his heart aint in it wish he would go sooner rather than later, stop upsetting the new arrivals and move on. On the striker front, forget anyone over 5mil, not guna happen, expect gary hooper or someone of equivelant s**tness and quotes at the end of the window will be "we tried really hard for sturridge etc but a deal couldnt be done....honest"

Believable5 Unbelievable3

You're an idiot. Jose was loyal when we got relegated. gave a brilliant season last. and said he would wait to see who we signed. we've signed Ba - Fitness issues. and none tested EPL players and youngsters. why should such a player of his quality put up with ashley and pardews crap?

Agree2 Disagree2

Carroll stated that llambias told him to hand in a transfer request so he did cos he had to What a load of crap He missed out the part that he asked for a move or a big pay rise so he was told to hand in the transfer request which he did Thats not the same Word being bent to suit the position

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you blame him he only started spouting his mouth off when carroll was sold(as we all did)can you really blame him for the clubs lack of ambition, ashley trying to do transfers on a shoe string budget. that ashley playing us lot like a bass fiddle. hate to say it but we are a feeder club now, we will have to get used to it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry the lad was forced out.england striker who wanted to play for newcastle , cant see that happening in the near future

Agree0 Disagree1

Firstly being called an person for having an opinion that differs from the mainstream?? Hmmm. Secondly, i dont believe for one second any player can be forced out, just look at Barton, club have made it abundantly (big word for an idiot) clear they dont want him yet hes dug in his heels and stayed, if Judas didnt want to go he had a 5 year deal he could easily has said, no this is my club and im going nowhere, but no he saw the pound notes and flicked 2 fingers to us fans, imagine how much he would of been worshipped if he had turned down liverfool and went public with how ashley and co had tried to get him to go? Now onto Enrique, at which point in my original post did i say Jose hadnt been loyal and he wasnt quality??? My point (which you obviously didnt quite get) is he obviously does not want to be here therefore I do not want him here to slag off the club and upset the applecart, what good is an unhappy player and how much do you think it will be upsetting the new boys being called not good enough by one of there new team mates?

Agree3 Disagree0

PS on the above post I did actually type "being called and idiot" does the site just block random words and put in whatever it wants lol

jose enrique has just lambasted the clubs transfer policy, source ssn
im sick aswell we've no ambition, N'zogbia off to villa is a perfect example.
ive heard a rumour were getting diouf on loan from man utd. Well i hope its him and not the other one from blackburn. but i wouldnt put it past us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2011 12:54:19
sunderland have got better signings than us i can see relegation next season jose enrique should leave we have got rid of all our best players anyway

Believable0 Unbelievable6

Silly smb

Agree1 Disagree0

Disagree that sunderland have brought in they are bringing in have beens such as brown and oshea and ye u can say the rest have prem experience but they have all been relagated lol so they obviously havent had to much sucess and as for wickham has a abismal scoring record and thats in the championship so definately dont see him scoring many this season

Agree2 Disagree0

Dont like most of sunderlands signings but ours have major injury doubts as well as little prem experience .

Agree0 Disagree0

Calling somebody a mackem cos they have a differrent opinion to you is very childish only time will tell.its the players leaving us thats making the safc signings look better

Agree1 Disagree0

Origional post obviously by a detractor of NUFC as a whole and noty just MA and AP

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep hearing same rant about SAFC signing old and got relegated players, two experienced defenders yes but SAFC needed experience as last year had younger squad than Arsenal, as for relegated and responsible, how many of your so called "stars" were with you when you got relegated and are still there? FTM

Do we want Erdinc? He has already said he doesnt want to come, remember that little scouse S**t? He didnt want to come but no other mugs in england wanted him Why not push the boat out and go for Sturridge or Wellbeck?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

In fact i didnt say he didnt want to come he had agreed terms a week ago its the agent who wasnt happy as he was due a fee/bonus from psg and wanted nufc to match it. so then he put a spin on it claiming he wants to fight for his place and all tha tosh (WelshToon)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 11:08:49
We won't be signing anyone else this summer. We are being lied to again and again. According to Enrique, the club hasn't offered him more money, and I'm inclined to believe him over the club. But the club is telling us that the £35m will go towards wages too, so why not give Jose a decent offer. Also, we have missed out on N'Zogbia due to wages because £9.5m is definitely affordable for us. Face it, we will lose Jose and we will get to the last day of the transfer window and we'll put in a token bid or two, but this is the squad we will have next season.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

His head was turned as soon as liverpool declared interest. if Nufc wanted him to stay they'd be dull to offer him no increase to wages or anythin includin mo readies. He just come out with this s**te to alert clubs and start the ball rollin in a new move. its not about the name on the back of the shirt but the badge on the front (WelshToon)

Agree1 Disagree0

Its a typical spanish move to alert clubs he is unhappy Happens all the time with foreign players If nothing is going their way or they think they can get more cash somewhere else then they start bleating about being unhappy at their present club See tevez and nasri for proof of this aswell as modric and boateng and ronaldo All did the same But Enrique not in the same class as these players He doing a zog

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 00:59:56
Jose Enriques tweets were done to try and make a move happen but now it puts pressure on Ashley to show ambition and to spend so could work out well for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

Mike Ashley hassent come a billionaire by listening to his employees, i agree with mike Ashley's policy of young skilful fast players

Agree4 Disagree3

Since when is Jose Enrique (or any other player) consulted on the club's transfer policy? To be frank, it's got nothing to do with him how the club chooses its playing staff. This is just a simple case of an employee not agreeing with perceived company policy but without actually knowing any of the details behind the scenes. Also smacks of Jose trying to curry favour with the fans by joining the anti-Ashley chorus. We've known he was angling for a move for months and months so none of this washes with me. maybe he wasn't offered more money but thats because he's already one of the top earners getting more than £50k a week. Dom.

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree in part with what Ashley is trying to do. The club does need to be on a more stable footing and the idea of getting in good young, pacey skillfull players is to be applauded. HOWEVER, the policy is too one sided, we are following the Arsenal example which yields no success when we shoudl be following the (and I hate to admit it) Man Utd example. There needs to be a blend of youth and experience, look at Fergie's fledglings they still had the likes of Cantona/Schmichael etc to ballnce the youth of Giggs/Beckham/Scholes/Butt/Neville x2.
We should again look to Ferguson on how to do it, we turned down the chance to sign Sheringham and partner him with Big Al because of his age so he joined Man Utd instead and was sensational (not to mention scoring against us in the FA Cup final). I think the signings are good that we have made but Barton should be offered a new contract, as shoudl Collo. Fergie is always willing to give youth a chance but is not so blinded by it that he cannot see the merit in offering older players new contracts, players these days are athletes and can be effective well into their 30's.
Personally I don't care if we spend 100 million or 1 million as long as we get the right players and the club has a sound financial basis for the future.
As for Enrique, he will not sign and he is trying to stir up sh*te to try and get transfer listed when all it will do is alert other managers to his bad attitude. We shoudl be getting in a new LB now and if Jose stays then fine, if not we are covered.

Agree1 Disagree0

We are nufc not arsenal wasnt so long ago the dream was to make us barcelona, newcastle sporting club, we have our own identity

ed can u tell me when stadium capacity was increased to 52000 the club took out a mortgage/loan on the ground when does this loan finish?

{Ed042's Note - Expanded to 52000 back in 1998, stadium was due to be expanded to 60000 along with surrounding areas, luxury apartments and conference centres, to be funded by the city council as part of a Newcastle development project but was put on hold or scrapped due to failure of the casino project and the takeover by Mike Ashley in 2007 when it became apparent that the club had more debt than first invisaged, was planned for future expansion but due to economic downturn this never came to fruition, any debt left over, if any, from initial loan for expansion to 52000 would have been incurred and paid off by Mike Ashley over the past four years}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed042 not sure if i got this but the way i understood it we had a seured loan on the ground which as soon as the club was sold the loan had to be repaid and thats what cost ashley £150 million and he then had to put another £25 million in when we got relegated so we have no debt to any banks at all just to ashley...and obviously all prem clubs use a overdraft facility when season ends to cover wages and running costs for the club as theres is no revenue when season ends the last bit was once told to me by mr mkeag a few years ago before he died...

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard the extra capacity over the original 36000 was used to pay the loan and it was still being paid

Agree0 Disagree0

No debts being paid from SJP. MA has made us totally solvent
