As I predicted, the mackems lost which means if we beat southampton, we rightly go above them and possibly 2 or 3 places above them. Southampton is another must win as all our home games are.
Team for southampton:

Krul

Debuchy Taylor Coloccini Santon

Jonas Cabaye Yanga M'biwa Gouffran

Sissoko

Cisse

Should be an interesting game, end to end maybe, but I reckon we should be fine, 2-1 win for us is my prediction, although I hope we really show our attacking talent and destroy them, as hopefully they should still be having a hangover from beating city with a week break, whereas we are still on our toes.

The Saints are our Bogey team, we need to be careful how we approach this one.

I think we look so ineffective going forward. can't see many goals in us right now, therefore if Ben Arfa is close to fitness he has to play against Southampton. Without him it will be a very close game, but with him I predict a much higher chance of success.

I wouldn't hold him back for the Swansea game which we will probably lose even if he plays. By not playing him against Southampton I think we are definitely risking getting nothing out of the next two games.

Oi! Stop being so negative! These will be the best times to play southampton and swansea. If swansea win the cup, they will have a hangover where they lose a stupid match, as are southampton as they have lost concentration from a week break and beating the champions. Yes it will be close, but we can cope. We have lots of flair now with sissoko and gouffran. I'm confident we can win both matches even if it is close.

Therefore according to your warped logic Newcastle will lose to Southampton. As you say Southampton beat the champions, so they'll lose concentration, if Swansea win they cup, they'll have a hangover, therefore newcastle will surely be due defeat after thursdays result.

Where was all this flair on thursday, because if we were gifted a penalty we wouldn't have scored all night!

I just think you need your best players to play in the games you stand the best chance of winning, and soton is more winnable than swansea, so let's go all out for it and have no regrets come 1530 on sunday

Right, bottom line is, every home game is a must win. So no matter how we do it, we need to beat southampton. If results go our way we will go above sunderland, but that's not really a hard achievement. Its going to be interesting having Elliot in goal who has impressed me. Hopefully cabaye will be fit, if not we'll have anita beside tiote.
4-2-3-1

Elliot

Debuchy S. Taylor Coloccini Santon

Anita Tiote

Jonas Sissoko Gouffran

Cisse

Anything less than a win against southampton isn't acceptable. But I'm predicting this game will be a close one. Remember, we will still be on our toes, whereas hopefully southampton are still having a hangover from beating city. But it won't be like November, we're not playing hoofball or have got about 6 youths out. Pardew has got us playing some sexy football but so are southampton. But we have the better quality and should beat them.

Harper should really be the 2nd choice keeper in my book.

Agree0 Disagree7

Harper has always been too laid back and now with his age he would be a liability.

Agree8 Disagree1

I cannot believe I got 7 disagree hits for wanting Harper over Elliot.

It does not seem like such a bad idea now does it?

And what does age have to do with it? He is a keeper, not a winger.

Keepers can play until they are 40 years old easily enough. (Friedel is still better than Lloris)
