Old Pro or WelshToon do you have any info on this midfielder? is he a more creative midfielder? What country is he currently playing in? What nationality is he? Fee? Yous normally have good info.

I spoke to a highly reliable source (Initials DB) from a well known local newspaper (I don't think initials are needed there).
The midfielder is apparently Diego. The deal has been rushed through quite quickly (i.e. in the past 72 hours). Apparently Liverpool were all set to snap him up but they pulled out at the last moment. The reason is (supposedly) down to King Kenny's warchest not being as large as people beleive. Whilst funds are there for him, most of those are already tied up in three deals that have been done before the start of the window (supposedly Young, Tarrabat and, quite suprisingly, Samba. The Enrique deal is also off the cards, however, there is apparenlty a -800% chance he will be gracing St James next year in black & white).
So, back to Diego, he is expected to fly in for a medical in the middle of the week, with a deal hopefully complete by the weekend. Maybe a tad bit later. The only worry is that a bigger premiership club may try and hijack the deal. MUCH bigger european teams (AC and Valencia) were/are interested but apparently he is only interested in the EPL, and is dead against playing in Italy again.
When you say Young who are you referring to ?
He's talking Liverpool there so Ashley Young.
I think Enrque is going to Barcelona. They need a quality attacking left back to complement Alves on the right, they have struggled there thsi season with Abidal's illness, maxwells ability and even had to play Puyol there.

the international player is not mehdi abeid.A fee can't be agreed for a player who is a free agent consider that!Plus he is only a youth international player so i think you can rule that one out.He will sign for us but he is not the player the sun are claiming we'll sign.

Ed When does the transfer window start, as surely we can't sign any players in the next week?
{Ed010's Note -In most of the major European leagues the transfer window opens on 1 July and closes on 31 August. In the EPL, I believe that the opening date is on the last day of the season and closes at the end of August. Please don't hold me to that but if anyone knows for certain, please feel free to post with the correct dates.

Dont no about any other toon supporters but i think pavlichenko is a must buy! he will be a goal machine! FACT! given his chance at spurs he would be a quality striker!
Depends on the price. He's 29 so spending big money wouldn't be worth it, there are better, younger players out there.
Again too old, too big a fee and wages too high.

To the people thinking it could be Diego I wouldn't get your hopes up because you'll just get dissapointed like the game today always getting let down it will probably be a average youngster I think if it was Diego it would be in papers or on Skysports news. {Ed007's Note - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but LFC are interested in him and the player is "excited" about the link. Although I'm not so sure about the reputed £15m fee}

I just want to say about the mystery midfielder. There are a lot of rumours going round that it will be Ireland, I doubt this as pardrew quoted that it would be an international and Ireland is no longer an international.
Also hes said he plays outside of the premier league

newcastles wage bill is 83% of our turnover. new rules platini is trying to bring in would restrict us playing in europe! (which is every teams goal, including ashley as its therefore a more attractive and nd high value club). so expect good scouting to bring in players on lower wages and higher earners, colo campbell ameobi barton (wage cut) to be sold or in bartons case take the deal offered on ashleys terms or be sold! 35 million will nt b sold directly
as transfer fees but will be wage signing on fees nd agent fees ( which ashley is also trying to be at a minimu as agents are a nightmare). also carroll didn't want to leave he was forced out, but i believe it was great buisness.
