Fair play to Ashley (albeit six months to late) Well we have Mbiwa, hopefully keep Colo (if not another cb) and if Haidara, Goufran and Sissoka (worth paying 2-3 mil now) signs that would be great.
Another striker to keep Cisse on his toes, Graham would do in the short term but happy for Carr to produce a surprise.

The Icing on the cake for me would be Siem De Jong, then I think we would have a good enough squad to clear relegation and push on for next season (hopefully top six).

Re-balance the books in the summer by releasing Simpson, Guti, Obertan and Gosling, loan out Bigi and Sammy for experience really like Bigi and in a couple of years he will be a good signing, Sammy I feel is more a championship player.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

You giveth with one hand and taketh away with the other! 'Fair play to Ashley / ALBEIT SIX MONTHS TOO LATE)

Agree2 Disagree0

Paying 4 million for Graham to cover short term sounds like a waste of money.

He is more than good enough to play as a forward in our team.

I will never understand how people can put Graham in the same bracket as someone like Leon Best, this guy is way better than that.

He is a notch above Shane Long. (Who Liverpool could not buy for over 10 million) {Ed001's Note - Liverpool have never bid for Long.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed, Check your facts again.

Liverpool enquired about Shane Long, they were knocked back and the reported fee for Long would be over 10 million.

They were told he was not for sale.

(Nowhere did I say bid, same as Liverpool did not bid for Allen or Sturridge, they buy outright these days) {Ed001's Note - I think you need to check your facts, Long has never been the object of an enquiry from Liverpool. Your 'facts' are utter nonsense from the papers. Liverpool's targets are well known and Long has not been one of them. I don't know what world you live in, but Liverpool bid a number of times for both Allen and Sturridge in the summer.}

Curtis Good looks like some player. Great game over this leg and the previous one. Rest of the season out on loan and expect him to be on the bench ahead of Williamson towards the end of next season and especially if we sell Williamson!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

100% agree Curtis played very well last night and the thought of the day we sell willo brings me so much joy

Agree1 Disagree0

Looked like we should recall now and have him ahead of Williamson anyway on last night's evidence

22 Jan 2013 21:24:43
always said the fat man would spend money this window and sure enough he is couple more signings tomorrow to be unveiled and then lets just get behind the players the manager and owner and get them points we vitally need.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

22 Jan 2013 21:19:32
Wanted to get people's opinions but part of me on Saturday when we capitulated had an inkling Pardew may have made the defensive changes on purpose to make a point about transfers and get the board to back him. Be fair to the guy had we won Ashley wouldn't of been heating the plastic like this.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Yeah agree 100%

Potential team for end of January window:
Krul
Debuchy-s.Taylor-Mbiwa-Santon
Sissokho-tiote-cabaye
Ben area-cisse-gouffran
Sounds like a pretty effective team

Believable6 Unbelievable1

On paper yes . But we play on grass !

Agree3 Disagree1

Colo won't go atleast until the summer

Agree1 Disagree0

Shame I think Gouffran would prefer playing on paper than grass.

Does anyone think having a punt for Nathan Redmond is worth it the brim miss are in need of cash and he is young fast can score and cross dribbles well and is English! = high sell on value!! MA if your reading he is defo up your street!! {Ed001's Note - he is not very good though mate, not sure he is anywhere near good enough for the Prem. He got dropped by Brum due to being terrible.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Must be good on football manager or fifa

Agree1 Disagree0

He is a quality little player was a regular under hughton. Scored as well, I just think lee Clarkes style doesn't involve him. Plus he could sell the club to him. He did score against Chelsea a few times at the bridge I think. He is only 18 and has been compared to Walcott and oxlaide chamberlain. Hasn't really been given a chance at premier league level but reminds me a bit of SWP when he was younger .

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2013 20:52:18
I see a lot of people on twitter criticising us for signing foreign players but it's all about signing quality players and quite frankly we can't afford to compete with the big clubs to sign the good English talents like Zaha, and most of the others are overpriced.
Signing English players like Williamson, Simpson, Gosling or French players like M'biwa, Debuchy and Possibly Sissoko is a no brainer for me.
Krul
Debuchy M'biwa Colo(hopefully) Santon
Anita Cabaye Sissoko
Marveaux Cisse Gouffran
Bench
Elliot, Taylor, Haidara, Perch, Jonas, Obertan, Shola.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Just look at what we got for the rumoured price of Zaha. Plus last time I checked France weren't exactly a poor national team.

Agree2 Disagree0

Where is HBA? No side is complete without him surely

Agree1 Disagree0

HBA is injured and I'm wasn't sure when he was back and Tiote is at ACN hence why I left them out.

Bet there`s a s**tload of humble pie being ate right now? All the so-called "Bleed Black and White" diehard fans calling for Pardew`s head and Ashley out! Shame on you all! Yes, I aren't enjoyed watchin my BELOVED team getting thrashed lately so let us all relax now. HOWAY THE TOON!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Plonker the fans gave every right and had they not criticised we would be relegation fodder
Wake up just like Ashley has had to do

Agree4 Disagree2

Shame on us? More like shame on you dancing to the Mike Ashley beat. If us fans didn't speak out he would have just sat there raking it in and taking us down. So is that what you want? The only humble pie being eaten should be from Ashley, gambling with the club and even with these signings it might be to late.

Agree5 Disagree1

If they all come in that will be 11m WoW, we need a proven goal scorer, then sort the team out in the summer..

Agree0 Disagree1

It was the fans kicking up a storm that was part of getting Ashley's backside in gear.

Do you think Ashley is bringing in players to appease the fans that will accept any old result?

1. Ashley is bringing in players because the passionate fans have demanded it.

2. He knows it makes sense to protect his investment.

Agree0 Disagree1

Eating Humble pie?

Were we not the ones saying this should have been done in the last transfer window.

Strange idea you have there.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jan 2013 19:38:06
They all seem like reasonable signings if we get them.
Still think we need a proven goal scorer like Darren Bent.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Be careful, we don't know what they will be like, unknown in these parts ! Every other one turned out none effective, reserve judgement . But it's a start .

Agree2 Disagree0

Nooooooooooooo

Agree1 Disagree0

Totaly agree with the second post, I know we needed bodies through the door but.....are they the quality we needed. Maybe the CB is but the rest?? I still think we are missing someone like Dres Mertens from this window.

To be honest I don't think we need another main striker if we get Gouffran. It will mean we can play a 4-3-3 playing Cisse through the middle and Gouffran and HBA either side, which will have everyone playing in their right position. Another striker will mean a ramshackle 4-4-2 playing HBA more defensive than he should be, and Marveaux/Gouffran on the left who are far too attacking or, god forbid, Gutierrez who is just awful. Also we will have cover for players in all positions. Perhaps we could do with a good sub who could come on if we were struggling, get goals when we need them, but not outshine Cisse, Danny Graham would be perfect for this role I reckon. This is all if we sign Sissoko, M'Biwa, Haidara and Gouffran - the rest of the team will be consistently strong and we wouldn't have weak links at the back or in the middle, allowing for much better play across all the pitch, with HBA, Cabaye and Gouffran for creativity and Cisse banging in left right and centre.
Nice seeing some optimism amongst the boys with all the recent news, and let's just hope that we pull at least 3 out of 4 of these players and we can turn this season around. Howay the lads!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Forgot to mention, our record playing in 4-3-3 instead of 4-4-2 speaks for itself. Got M'Biwa, just 2 or 3 more to go!

one big team will go down this year newcastle or villa or both

Believable5 Unbelievable5

So that's 2?????

Agree3 Disagree1

No I said ONE big team ie VILLA

Agree2 Disagree1

We aren't a big team, ask fergie

Agree2 Disagree0

One big team will go down this year Newcastle or Villa or both. Read it again you are suggesting 2 and at no point do you suggest 1 club is bigger than another.

They will both go down.

Yoan Gouffran agreed fee, looks set to have a medical in next few days. M'biwa has just had a medical I think, and is set to sign as Montpellier have already said their goodbyes, haidara fee agreed and is due to have a medical or has already had one. We are building a top 6 team with absolute bargains, great pieces of business we're doing. M'biwa, so excited, what a bargain, 6.3mil for a captain? he's only 23 as well. Can See the front line working well with gouffran in there. Hopefully we can tie up sissoko by aston villa who apparently has his heart set on newcastle but won't believe it until see him holding up a Newcastle shirt. Ed, or anyone know when ben arfa will be back from injury?
Hopefully this should be the team for villa:
-------------------------Krul-----------------------
Debuchy---Yanga-M'biwa---Coloccini---Santon
-----------Cabaye---Anita---Sissoko-------------
----Marveaux- ------Cisse----------Gouffran---
I think santon also be used as a left midfielder in a 442, to replace jonas. He does get forward a lot and I think he'd work well there.
Geordie Moses {Ed001's Note - Ben Arfa is officially due back on the 21st of Feb.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Dont get carried away at the minute we are bottom 6 and none of these players have signed officially, be pleased when seasons over and we are still aprem club

Newcastle in for trio and agree deal for Gouffran if we are in for trio dose this included Gouffran are is there another deal happening some where hopefully sissoko deal to bring him in this month then another striker in and mybe jack butland and I will be a very happy man

22 Jan 2013 18:15:02
ED is it possible that Newcastle sign Sissoko on a pre contract agreement and then offer Toulouse a smaller fee than what they wanted to make it happen in January? Just so they can get some money for him. {Ed001's Note - yes, that is exactly what Spurs are trying to do with Holtby.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks for the reply ED. Seems like something Ashley and Llambias would try and do.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2013 18:14:42
FINALLY! Some positive Newcastle transfer window buzz in place of slamming big mike! If we have signed Gouffran, Haidera, Mbiwa, Sissocho and Debuchy by the 31st of January with only Ba leaving I will be over the moon! Looks also that 433 is being preferred with Gouffran coming in, v. good possible line up once all hopefully complete could be:
Krul
Santon, Collocinni(hopefully!), Mbiwa, Debuchy
Sissocho, Cabaye, Tiote
Gouffran, Cisse, HBA
(not one English player must be noticed-good!)
Would be delighted if we played this! Up the TOON!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Embarrassing having no english players let alone geordies

Agree0 Disagree5

Swap coloccini out put in saylor, covers both bases english geordie

Agree1 Disagree1

Embarrassing for NUFC or embarrassing for British football? Its sad that there isn't any decent British talent out there that could get into the team without spending more than £10m on someone totally untested from the Championship. Its a crying shame actually.

Teams are looking for £8m for Hooper and £12m for Zaha and both are not great in my opinion. Certainly no better than what we're attempting to buy for less than £5m in France.

DomW

Agree6 Disagree0

And all theses players are test in EPL ? NOT 1 OF YOUR PLAYERS ARE FROM A TOP 6 TEAM in france who is gambling omly time will tell

22 Jan 2013 18:07:38
Is hadiera and gouffran 1st teamers or just squa cheersd/cover? Never seen either play b4?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haidara will be more to keep santon on his heels and for cover, gouffran should play a lot though

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2013 17:52:45
If we sign mbiwa, haidara, gouffran, sissoko (and hopefully another striker) how stupid will remy feel at going to qpr for a few more pennies?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2013 17:42:18
any truth in the rumour we are changing team name to france

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Whats wrong with the french market? Do you not realise we obviously have the best scouting network in france? Are you not pleased that we got those bargains of your cabaye's, your Ben arfa's, your mbiwa's. We are building a top 6 team with bargains.

Agree3 Disagree1

Why? what's wrong with Newcastle United?

Agree2 Disagree0

Well at least you know where the French are when the battle commences !

Agree2 Disagree0

Up the premier league oui go oui are Geordies super ( French ) Geordies

Agree1 Disagree0

Les Mags

Cabaye's, Ben arfa's are good players that's 2 out of how many yous will do well to keep hold of cabaye, he is 1 of the best players in EPL so was BA and where is he

22 Jan 2013 17:03:47
hope sissoko deal is completed and not a pre contract agreement. some good news atlast thank god, still want wide forward/wingers sinclair on loan possibly or siem de jong and maybe another centre half.
i can't help thinking we will be letting one of our star players go to pay for this .but i'm just going to enjoy today because good days have been few and far between this season...del

anyone else on hear think newcastle are doomed if williamson or shola had not started on saturday and any of the new signings from france take their place against villa then newcastle would have no british players starting a game. now don't get me wrong some of the buys newcastle have made are good buys but when the going gets tough I don't think some of these foreign lads will have the heart in a battle. I fear for newcastle staying in the top flight and even though i'm a sunderland supporter I for one don't want to see newcastle going down.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

And do you really think that our lazy, dozy Shola has the heart for a battle?

Agree5 Disagree0

The problem we have is some of our English players simply aren't good enough. Williamson has cost us so many goals this season.

Agree3 Disagree0

Put original post on lads and not going to disagree with you's but I think you could do with a couple of lads in with premiership experince but as most people can see mr ashley likes the french lads who seem to com through at a reasonable price and the wages are not to high just hope it doesn't backfire on you's

Agree0 Disagree0

To me, it's about ability, passion and determination. Doesn't matter where the player's from. If Andy Carroll is an example of home-grown geordie, I'd rather have a 'Le Geordie' aujoud hui.

Agree1 Disagree0

Arsenal played with all foreigners and won things, plenty of fight in a lots of them as well

Agree1 Disagree1

Foreign ARE NOT GOOD FOR A CLUB in the long term you can't fill your club with foreign players unless they are the BEST foreign players do you think the players yous are signing are some of the best in the world ? think it takes away the local feel for a club always good to give our lads a go but we have no say in the matter

Agree1 Disagree3

English players simply aren't good enough WHY ? CLUBS don't have the bottle to take a chance on OUR LADS look at the signings safc and nufc have made this month come on you telling me these are better ? get the scouts back to the schools and local clubs on sat and sunday m8 and I would bet any one on here theirs a couple of gems waiting

Agree5 Disagree0

Williamson is he the only english player out there ?

Agree1 Disagree0

Differance been world CLASS imports not run of the mill players

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney hart lampard milner ferdinand a. cole lescott terry barry scholes j. cole p. neville w. brown some of the english lads still in the game with premiership medals not to mention defoe walcott gerrard carragher afew lads supposedly playing for the big clubs not to have won a premiership medal could make a team out of these and ye won't be far off winning the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone of those English players mentioned we couldn't afford. Brown is an interesting one. He is rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you say the french league is any better than SPL ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why can't we afford ? sold carroll 35 mil don't be silly its the way fatman runs all he's business buy cheap sell for a mark up all we are is a shop window

Agree1 Disagree0

Why is brown rubbish because he plays or gets paid off sunderland when he won his league winners medal he was at man utd

22 Jan 2013 12:25:36
I, like everyone else, would be happy to see mbwia arrive. However, if colo leaves we will be worse off at centre half than we were against Reading. I'd rather have colo/williamson than mbwia/williamson. Really hope its Colo/mbwia but i'm not holding my breath.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Ed, I am glad to see that finally Mbiwa is having a medical and it was the bad weather that delayed it. What I am sick of is the press running a "highjack the deal" story about every player with have a bid accepted for! Do they not know how nerve racking it is for us already.

Big Sam said on TV that he was not interested in a perm deal for Hadiara and therefore not following up.

Joss

Agree0 Disagree0

Colo/Williamson is not working.

Mbiwa/Willamson could work better, you just never know.

What is without doubt is that Mbiwa should be going to a champions league club, we are verrrry lucky to be getting him.

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Jan 2013 10:31:03
Anyone know what's going on with the Yanga-Mbiwa deal? apperntly he was due to fly out last night, for a medical this morning but didn't show up.... Arsenal to hijack this one maybe?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I would say its the weather.

Agree1 Disagree0

According to Newcastle it was weather related. He is still coming.

Why is it after the Remy Saga, are transfer stories being leaked? who leaks them as I assume/hope its no one at our club...is it agents/other clubs? Surly its better if all parties are told to be quiet until the deal is done? Or is that not how it works?

Lewis {Ed001's Note - it might be best for Newcastle, but the player, the agent and the selling club all want other parties involved to raise their return.}

Why does it take Newcastle so long to finalise a deal?

The fee for the lad from montpellier was agreed days ago according to reports..

If its over a few thousand pound we are in no position to argue we need players in, ann dead line day is fast approaching.

Quicken things up!

I thought Gouffran was an attacking midfielder. He need a striker who can play as a winger people.

QPR apparently interested in Sissoko. He's said he'd rather come to us probably because he knows Cabaye, HBA and Debuchy quite well from international duty but Remy said he had his heart set on Newcastle too. Hopefully Sissoko has principles and dignity unlike Remy.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

21 Jan 2013 18:14:38
Eds, if we were to dign Gouffran, would you think that he'd play wide left, or through the middle with Cissé dropping to the bench? {Ed001's Note - no idea, you would hope Cisse would play through the middle, where he can get back to goal scoring form.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Cisse has got to play through the middle and hopefully he can get his confidence in front of goal. Bowing down to Ba in an attempt to keep him has not done Cisse any favours, so we need a forward who can play on the wing/work the channels and hopefully create more in the box for Cisse, which also means we need midfielders getting in the box to score goals.
