Here's in interesting and surprising stat for you:

Even though we were top of the long ball league last season, we are in fact top of the league of most passes that lead to goals with an average of 5. 4 passes per goal. More than the likes of arsenal, Swansea and Man City.

Newcastle january targets:

Jeroen Zoet (4-7m)
Micah Richards (10-15m)
Kurt Zouma (7-12m)
Tom Ince (4-6m)
Aaron Lennon (6-10m)
Alfred Finnbogason (4-7m)
Loic Remy (6m release clause)
Demba Ba (7-11m or LOAN)

Hopefully we'll have a new DOF like Commoli, someone who knows their football AND business, something that JFK hasn't got (Thats why Kinnear couldn't sign anyone) hopefully JFK forgets to buy ashley a pint on sunday night then ashley will fire him.

Not a chance

Demba Ba can clear off. He thinks he is too big for Newcastle; let him find a bigger club than Newcastle that will offer his leggy selfish style a first team slot.

I would not be too bothered if Demba Ba left for better money, but he was offered similar terms to what Chelsea were offering to stay.

But he was also offered the chance to compete for the league year in year out. I think he got a europa league winners medal as well so achieved more in 6 months than 18 months with the toon. they've qualified for champs league as well. Who can blame him for leaving for that. he could sit on the bench for most the season and still end up with a league winners medal (providing he plays 16 games).

I don't think he's the right type of player for the toon anymore though.

Ba turning up with a smile on his face to pick up a medal he did not contribute towards is not what I would call ''achieving. '' He is not going to be kept around for long if that is his contribution either.

Ba was never going to Chelsea to be their main striker - every man and his dog knew what was happening. Chelsea were buying him on the cheap as a stop-gap, knowing full well they would get their money back for him again in 6 to 18 months.

Ba had first team football at Newcastle, we adapted our team around his VERY selfish play, and we propelled him to one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League. He had Muslim friends at the club, an international team-mate and 50,000+ fans roaring for him at St. James' Park. He gave all of that up for what? because he thought he was bigger and better than Newcastle? anybody who watches football could see that Ba would be found out at Chelsea, if Torres struggles for goals in that side, it was obvious what a slower and leggier Ba was going to offer.

Ba was offered nothing at Chelsea, at best the chance to be a sub in a team that would soon keep buying him down the pecking order. Can anybody really understand that decision? If he was going to a bigger club to meet his ambitions I would understand it, but he was brought in to be the equivalent of a maternity leave cover temp, destined to be dumped when the full-time position got filled again. Quite a strange decision if you ask me, from a feared marksmen at a club of stature with a huge stadium. to a forgotten man.

All of that aside, he is not right for us anymore. The team is evolving and as Pardew has said, it is not just good enough to win, he wants to win playing good football. That means we must not let Ba return under any circumstances. The days of playing 10 men behind Ba are long gone.

If Pards wants English players, ideally with EPL experience then we should go for Rodriguez at Southampton. he is not getting a look in and has all the attributes of a modern striker; tall/strong/quick/can use either foot, can head, can pass can go past people. Even at £2m above what Soton paid for him he would be worth it. If he played regularly I reckon he would force Defoe out of the England WC squad so a great incentive for him to move.

Richards would be great but won't happen, I'd like to see Dummet play centre half, he is tall enough and is good on the ball and has the pace that none of our other CH's have. This would also mean we don't have 3 left backs for 1 slot and negate the need to spend money on another CH therefore releasing funds TO BUY RODRIGUEZ!

Dummett won't remain as a centre back. he's better than santon, that's why he should replace him there and santon should become a winger. I agree jay rodriguez would be a fantastic signing for us, very young and talented and can also play as a winger

Funny, isn't it, JT, how not so long ago left back was our problem position, with Raylor standing in. Now we've got a choice of four! Pardew reckons that Dummet could do a job in front of the back four, Santon could play out wide, Mapou anywhere across the back four and Haidara can play either side. Versatility and competition for places must be a good situation. With Benny at CF we could see some unexpected formations this season.

Team for the derby regardless off who's fit again.
Krul
Debuchy dummett Williamson santon
Tiote Cabaye
Remy Sissoko Gouffran
Ben arfa

Remy Ben arfa and gouffran all have the ability to alternate aswell as sissoko and cabaye. If coloccini and saylors fit then put them on the bench, it's unfair if dummett and Williamson both have really good games and then don't get to play.

No should be:

Krull
Debuchy Willo Dummet Santon
Tiote
Sissoko Cabaye

Gouffran HBA Remy

I agree with that team but I think taylor needs to come back. I don't think dummett's ready for a derby yet let alone play at centre back. sunderland will no doubt hoof it down the middle for either altidore or fletcher or possibly borini, and I think taylor and williamson are the ones who can match them. other than that, spot on team. maybe sissoko and cabaye can swap around at times in the match.

Krul
Debuchy, Willo, Dummet, Santon
Tiote
Sissoko, Cabaye, Ben Arfa

Gouffran
Remy

Not too sure about Ben Arfa on the left of midfield but he could do it well and I think with the Mackem confidence levels what they are my exposure on the wings would be not too problematic, easily changed during the match if it becomes an issue. Dummet should get a go, this could be the match to really help the lad (although the last one wasn't too bad eh?)

Cisse needs toplay. we need to get him scoring. Am oi only one who thought HBA looked lost and idle as lone CF
