Would anyone take John carver as manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't be so stupid!

Agree0 Disagree0

GC is the same as Pardew BAD
If his coaching this season is anything to go by 68 goals shipped

Striker not scoring and Cabaye and Tiote abysmal. Get Real Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt have him as anything assistant groundsman anything

Agree0 Disagree0

Carver would spend most of the season banned to the stands.

You have to admire his passion.

He went beserk after that challenge on Haidara, there is no doubt his heart is in the club and the players, but what a short fuse.

I think even ole' Fergie was slightly scared of him. lol

I won't mind if Pardew stays on the condition that Gutierrez gets his useless backside somewhere where he cannot put his feet on the St. James's turf again. Absolute joke of a player, the likes of him and Williamson need to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah you're right, Pardew wasn't to blame for this season, it was ALL down to one player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go again season finished and we are happy with Pardew. Well welcome to another 7 years of nothing just staying in the Premiership is Ashley's aim No more no less. Get real Pardews remaining tenure says it all.

This Andy Carroll transfer to west ham is bull****. West Ham moved to the Olympic stadium but couldn't afford the full rent or whatever and so got it cheap. Yet they now pay a basic fee to rent the ground, keep all the ticket money and yet they still have a spare 12m to spend on players. Surely they should have a years transfer embargo or be made to pay the full rent. It's borderline cheating really. The tax payer has effectively payed for carroll's transfer.

Pardew is now the second longest serving manager in the Prem

Why did Pardew cancel the phone in?

Geordie Al

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't be bothered with the flack!

West Ham have apparently agreed to buy Andy Carroll from Liverpool for a reported fee of £15m. Looks like we might have missed out on another target because of Ashley's refusal to spend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You sound like a sulking kid who's just had his arse spanked. Get a grip.

If we want Carroll, we'll get him. The deal isn't done until Andy agrees personal terms and the transfer window actually opens in July.

This has got ages to play out yet, this is just an opening salvo.

DomW.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pressures just been put on Newcastle to match the fee if they want him, sure if that happens andy will take a pay cut to move back

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we want him? People moaning about hoofball then wanting the long haired, so-so moocher. He's not worth 5 million, 15 million, what a laugh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly the best footballed related news I've heard all week. Are people seriously moping about this? Christ alive. Carroll is a decent player, but he plays Alladyce football, and that's what we want to move away from. He doesn't have the technical ability to be a part of what we want for our club, isn't even fit to lick Ben Arfa's boots. Aim higher.

West ham agreed fee for AC, could I be reading too much into this but our present manager as keen to resign him, we know that so why have we not thrown our hat in the ring? Possible that another incoming manager may not fancy him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Probably because he's not worth 15m?

Geordie Al

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more Gordie Al, AC is useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2013 00:24:30
My point is not AC's ability but the fact that nufc is quiet on a player they have indicated they would have back, my conspiracy theory being MA considering other management options maybe? that's the crack on twitter tonight. yes I know may be bull***t but we live in hope!

Great news for Newcastle today. Pulis has left stoke. He would be perfect plays the same style of football to Pardew but is a better more experienced version.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Please, NO.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're having a laugh, Pulis, I'd rather have Pardew or FSA.

Pardew will be gone by Thursday trust me!! Taxi Man

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gone where on Holiday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardew won't go
The only chance that pardew would have been sacked is if Newcastle got relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye, and if he takes a taxi to the airport he'll be interrupted by a lazy driver who beeps his horn outside the door impatiently (and illegally) because he can't be bothered to get out of his car and KNOCK ON THE DOOR. He'll then be driven at 95mph down every residential zone in the north east because taxi drivers don't have to follow the rules. {Ed003's Note - reputable companies use a callback or textback service you should report drivers who beep there horn or knock on doors at night lol}

Right, so ashley is going to make a decision in the next 48 hours about whether he's willing to give pardew a chance to get us back into the top 7 or pay out pardew's contract (although I can guarantee you there will be a clause in pardew's contract) and possibly get in Rafa Benitez who wants to stay in the premier league. If pardew does keep his job, then he has my 100% backing and should do with all the other fans. If he's sacked, then i'm just praying we get in Rafa Benitez (Top choice), Rene Girard, Laurent Blanc or Martinez not rubbish like McClaren, Curbishley, O'Neil, ericsson (Spelling), pulis etc.

I could actually see Rafa coming here, we are a big enough club for him and he respects us. If he did come in, then I reckon ashley will give him the money to sign 3 top quality players, mainly a versatile attacking player, a striker and a centre back and some extra money for players to cover some positions.

JMW

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newcastle are NOT BIG ENOUGH for RAFA.

He goes to clubs that win trophies so Newcastle are ruled out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Newcastle won't pay Rafas wages, now stop this silly talk!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's started again the past two summers pardew comes out and says it will be hard to keep our best players! Waiting for someone to bid big? Every fxxxxing he comes out with it never hear anyone else saying, JUST GET ON WITH IT WHAT WILL BE WILL BE! Sick of his constant excuses, top players? These nearly got us relegated! He got to go just not good enough. This time Ashley has backed his manager and he has let him down IMO. It's easy to blame this and that. At the moment there is a few good managers out there young and tactically first class. Mike don't miss out on one of them. Laudrup I would like if we could get him, raffa, Martinez. Poyet, all better than we have!

Agree0 Disagree0

Last poster just hasn't a clue and can safely be ignored. 'Young and tactically first class' - Rafa? Whinged all through his Liverpool spell about lack of funds; only succeeds when he can buy big. Martinez? If Wigan were so good, how come they were ALWAYS in relegation trouble even when they had Rodallega, Zog, Valencia etc. Poyet? What's he done? I'll say it again (and see Mick Quinn's comments on Newsnow) it's poor players who got us into a mess. Even our best players are over-rated. A thorough clear-out is due, and we need to sign established Prem quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

He goes to big clubs, and newcastle are one of them. One of the best fan bases in the world, lots of legends.

Agree0 Disagree0

"we need to sign Prem quality", so does that mean the French revolution is out the window now?

Agree0 Disagree0

Who signed the players? Joe blogs! Pardew look at raffa s record compared to others? Get your head out your arse, we all want stability, thought we had until performances this season! It's easy to say it was a flash in the pan, maybe last season was! All aim saying there are better managers out there, who could improve us, good players just need better leadership!

Agree0 Disagree0

Re last post. You obviously don't know how transfer business is done at NUFC. Carr and Pardew recommend, but negotiations and signings are done by Llambias and the Finance Director. That's the way that most clubs operate now and why 'managers' are now called head coaches. Pardew doesn't have much say in this area, and definitely doesn't control the budget. I doubt if he even has much say on priorities for new signings. If anybody's head is up their arse (and I don't go much for childish insults) it's yours. Like so many Ashley/Pardew/Llambias haters you still haven't twigged that our 'good players' are over-rated. Don't want to repeat myself, but I'll say it again in small words so that you can understand: it was not Pardew who handled the ball in the Benfica match, it was one of the star players; and it was not Pardew who passed the ball back to a Benfica forward to score, it was another of our star players. It wasn't Pardew who sent Colo's wife back to Argentina. If you look at reports on all our poor matches during the season you'll see that all of the bad passes and missed tackles were made by our 'good' players, not by Pardew.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will say it again! Read it, pardew may not physically sign them, but must have recommended them same thing, not good enough! Collectively that is! Down th tactics and management! Individually decent, but not organised! Read stats they don't lie pal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't you ever heard the expression 'There's lie, damned lies and then there's statistics'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently on the radio, pardew was sort of having a pop at ashley saying not strengthening in the summer has cost us. It was something along the lines of "ashley didn't realise we needed to strengthen to cope with europe". If pardew does get sacked I can see the managerial cycle going like this:
Moyes-Man u
Mourinho-Chelsea
Benitez-Newcastle
Martinez-Everton
Pulis-Wigan
Pardew-Stoke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pulis to wigan, wow, have you ever watched a football game before?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2013 15:29:41
Dont believe this garbage coming out of the club again either about having little money and struggling to keep our best players. Everton finish top 7 most seasons. They average 15 to 20 thousand fans less than us every game and we do not have to compete with Liverpool for fans. there's a difference between having no money and having money but not wanting to spend it. In 1996 we broke the world transfer record, has this ever been done by another british club? Also in 1997 after qualifying for the champions league we were officially the 5th richest club in the world. (This is not that long ago!) Last season we were back in the top 20 richest clubs in the world again. We have little to no debt, but yet we can't afford a top manager or afford to keep our best players. I get sick of hearing this lower your expectation rubbish every summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here we go again! The reason you are back in the top 20, is because the club owe ashley over 100 million. But because he has an arrangement with the clubs board it doesn't show up as a debt. It actually shows up as an investment from ashley which will be paid back when he leaves. Not having a go at the toon as other clubs do this kind of financial 2-step.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you mean the club owe him? Are you stupid? IT IS HIS CLUB, if the club owes him it means that he owes himself. And if it's 'secret' and isn't on the books (here's the very very very obvious question) how do you know? Don't tell me, your granny once washed the shirts of the reserves 45 years ago so you are 'in the know'. Thanks for keeping us up to date, is that your mam shouting on you? Beddy time.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2013 15:23:18
I do quite like Pards really, but in all honestly, can anyone see us repeating last seasons top 5 finish under him again, never mind surpassing it? We do need a change otherwise we'll lose our best players and end up tredding water again. Or worse, if we make no change and don't strengthen like last summer. Think he's a decent manager, but he's done his time. At times this season he's looked absolutely bewildered and completely out of ideas, as though he's tried everything possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Pardew looked out of ideas, it was because he was reduced to playing Perch, Williamson, Jonas, Sammy, Shola, Simpson, Obertan etc etc etc. You can't make a silk purse out of a team of sows' ears. Yes, Lambias brought in the 7th cavalry in Jan, but the damage was done long before then and confidence was shot to hell. Add to that both Taylors out for long spells and Colo's physical and mental problems and you should be able to be a little more sympathetic to Pardew's difficulties. And another thing. Even with a makeshift team in the Europa games - especially against Bordeaux, Anzhi and Benfica, Pardew got his tactics spot-on. Some people have short memories. and

Agree0 Disagree0

Our 'best' players are all on long contracts. Even if they want away, they can't force it. Odemwingie? Modric?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2013 14:58:24
Getting sick of people calling for Pardew's head. While we haven't had a great season, just look at all we've had to contend with. People are trying to justify their enthusiasm to have him sacked because he is 'tactically inept'. What exactly has he done that is tactically inept? Let me guess, he didn't play HBA, even though he has came out and said he wasn't even fit. Personally, considering HBA dodgy history when it comes to injuries, I'm glad he was reluctant to rush him back.

In terms of set peices like corners, I'm not surprised that we haven't scored since 2011, we haven't got any natural headers of the ball (except Williamson), so it's pretty easy for teams to nullify our attacks on corners and freekicks, all they have to do is mark Williamson. There is nothing else we can do but lump it in and hope it luckily falls to one of our players, but despite what you may think of teams in the league, they're too smart to just let the ball take its course, so they will clear it. If you have any other suggestions as to what we should do with freekicks I'm all ears, because the only alternative I can think of is Cabaye hits it from range, which is pot luck anyway as the box will be filled with players, so the chances of the ball making it through to the net are slim.

People need to pull their heads out of their a*** and realise that we are not a team that will be challenging for the league, if we are lucky we may snatch a league cup. If we are truly going to rejoin the upper echelons of the league it will take time and measured decisions. Look at Everton, they let a manager build a team and now they are up there every year. Even SAF retiring should provide stark reminders that constant change doesn't bring success.

So button up, keep your ridiculous unintelligent opinions for down the pub and get behind the team. This next season will be the real test for Pardew, because if he can't reproduce similar results as he did in 2011/12 season, then maybe your criticisms are well founded.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wow, I don't even know where to start with this.

I, like you, have been an AP (e) apologist but it's time to wake up. He - not injuries, every team gets them, not a Europa league run, a lot of teams contend with that - HE is making good players worse.

If it were one player that's one thing but it's en masse.

That, my friend, is down to management.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmm I think the days of managers at clubs for a long time is becoming a thing past of the past. We won't see another manager like Fergy in a job for 25+ years, Wenger or even a Moyes. Chelski have won numerous trophies with lots of different managers in the last 8-10 years. Benetez has won trophies with nearly every club he has managed, I understand thet Rodgers is the fifth longest sering manager in Prem know and he hasn't been there 12 months yet.

I think if Ashley has any ambition for this club he should get Benetez in, give him some money know, get three first teamers in (my choice would be PA if poss Dejong from Ajax and Sakho) and 5 or 6 squad players before end of July, get a good pre-season with players fit and a clear and focused style of playing and we should be in top 10 for next season with a manager who wants to win a cup. Then the following season push on again and last enjoy the ride.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree totally!

Agree0 Disagree0

"but despite what you may think of teams in the league, they're too smart to just let the ball take its course, so they will clear it"

How is it that Patrice Evra who is 5ft9 scores a header from a corner against us? I mean Evra isn't exactly known for his aerial threat from set pieces is he?
Why aren't we smart enough to defend corners?

Agree0 Disagree0

It's either because our defenders are s*** or because Pardew failed to run onto the pitch and mark the late run of Evra. I blame Pardew, it's his job to cover the near post.

Next Managers at Newcastle: (Favourites to less favoured)
1. Lee Clark
2. Rafa Benitez
3. Steve McClaren
4. Steve Bruce
5. Gus Poyet
6. Laurent Blanc
7. Rene Girard
8. Roberto Di Matteo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How did Girard & Blanc end up in the bottom 3.

Rafa is useless, everyone is losing their minds because he got lucky in the Europa league.

I for one am not convinced Rafa is a good manager simply based on a late goal scored by Ivanovic, a goal Rafa had no hand in.

This is a Manager that got Robbie Keane in for over 20 million and sold him back to Spurs for half that 6 months later.

This is a Manager that led Chelsea to a beating in the club world cup.

A Man that ruined Inter Milan.

He did well at Valencia and won a Champions League at Liverpool, but Rafa is a double edged sword, he could do something good or simply ruin the club. He is too much of a dice roll.

I would take Girard.

Blanc is an authoritarian and would cause too many problems. The last thing we need is a French mutiny half way through a bad season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never mind all this rubbish about managers, Newcastle are stuck with the pearly king.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget bruce and brollyman

Agree0 Disagree0

Rafa has win a lot more than the europa league thanks to 'a late goal by ivanovich' what about la liga, champs league, Uefa cup, club world championship. You can't be a bad manager and achieve that

Agree0 Disagree0

How about, instead of fitting the team to a managers tactics, do the oppisite and get a manager that fits the way your team plays? Oooh look pulis is available! Lol

keep reading about Moyes did this Ferguson did that. what i'm interested in is. is Pardew good enough as a magager to get us in top 8 consistently. has he the nous, well he has been a manager for a few years here and there and has done nothing (ye he got us to 5th last year got more players seemingly better players but got us to 5th bottom this year) Can he change his way of playing, change tactics has he the ability to see that things are not working and do something about at half time, To most of these answers on past history the answer is no. do I think Pardew is good enough as a manager No, if he doesn't get the sack will I support him Yes why? because that's what I do I support the Toon no matter who plays who manages who owns the club. I support the Toon, looking foward to the next 2 months of banter and rumours but most of all looking forward to season 13/14 full of hope once again DesToon (58 years supporting the lads and still loving it)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 May 2013 11:18:05
i think we should do this in the summer.
IN:
Kolo toure (Free) if coloccini leaves.
Honda 11m If cabaye, benny or tiote leave.

Aubameyang 11m
Insigne 9m
Sinclair 4m
Rose 8m (Santon used as a winger and cover for debuchy0
Okore 3m
Alex McCarthy 2m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

£48m plus wages not a chance of Ashley doing that. I don't see why everyone wants to sign Rose yes he's had a brilliant season for Sunderland but Spurs need a new LB and we've just signed Haidara who looks a good player and we have Santon aswell as Yanga-Mbiwa, Ferguson, Anita and Jonas that can play LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanting Santon to play as a winger is not going to make it happen.

You are ruining your posts by believing your idea of Santon playing as a winger is going to happen.

And we are not getting Rose, you need to give it up.

You can keep saying it over and over, it won't change things.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why CAN'T people be realistic about the players they say they want?!

Toure - Yes he is free so we can afford that - then there is the simple fact of his STUPID wage at City! We could never afford that and he won't take a pay cut to come to a club nearly BOTTOM of their league!
There is no incentive for him to come to us!

Honda - think he is in his last year of his contract. But he WINS things there, why move to a team who haven't won anything?

PEA - possible - don't count your chickens on this actually happening, again if a bigger club offers him a move, why would he choose us.

Insigne, proving himself the last few years netting 19 and 18. I could see him coming been such a young age, and its a good chance for him at a PL level and he could see it as a step to move to a bigger club in a few years

Sinclair - If City don't bang a high tag on him i'd have him, be good for cover for injured wingers. or simple put Jonas in the bin and pick up Sinclair

Rose - Spurs to let him go, I really don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Honda would come simply because we are a PL team and a bigger club than Moscow
Mine would be:
Honda 9m
Aubameyang 11m
Kouyate 5m
Sinclair 4m
McCarthy 2m
Bent 7m or insigne 8m

Agree0 Disagree0

Either yohan cabaye or Hatem ben arfa could leave newcastle this summer, although mike ashley will want to get us much money as he can for the players if he were to sell them. A major clearout is already being planned with Harper, simpson, williamson, jonas, gosling, obertan look all set to leave. It looks as though one of newcastle's stars being sold and it could be out of cabaye, ben arfa, tiote or santon. Alex McCarthy is being lined up as a replacement for Harper, Aubameyang is also on the radar and we could see a surprise move for Loic Remy who is currently on bail so it may be unlikely.
