Sounded like we created well and played with flair at times. Marveaux and Ben Arfa beating players for skill and Albeid coming on and doing well also.
Only took Tiote 37mins to be booked
75mins though and no shots on target.
Hopefully that will push Pardew into getting a striker in sooner to settle in the club.

--------------------------------------------------

Honourable mention to mr smith for not getting booked ha ha ha ;)

---------------------------------------------------

Says alot when our RB has the only shot on target in the 80+ minutes of the game.

---------------------------------------------------

Remember its only pre season, its not like we really have to try
---------------------------------------------------
Got to totally disagree with the above comment.
Surely fring players/players at risk of being sold etc or battling for places next season should be showing what they can do. Ameobi, Lovenkrands, Best, Ba battling for striker. Jonas/Marveaux/Tiote/Ben Arfa/Gosling/ Barton to come back/Albeid etc. Should be going for it in pre-season if they want to start next season surely?

Who were u playing?

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's not forget the same team beat spurs a few days ago

Agree0 Disagree1

That was Kaiser Chiefs from S.Africa 1-0?
We played Kansas from North America
All Im saying as mentioned above, it took 80+ mins for a strike on target And it was our RB who had the shot Marveaux and Ben Arfa were skinning their players for fun as did Jonas. No end product. As per usual. Know its a friendly but still want to see our strikers banging a goal in.

Still very worried about new season:
Ben arfa injured?
Enrique Liverpool/arsenal
coll i rumored Spain
Barton who knows?
Very worried what team will be by end of August.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Loads of time left for dealing to be done And ben arfa should be ok if only twisted his ankle

Agree1 Disagree1

You ought to be worried...2nd game in you will get hammered.

Agree1 Disagree5

Like last season?

Agree1 Disagree0

We playing arsenal the first game man Think we got the amateur bingo club second so a solid 3 points again

I don't really understand how the club are conducting themselves with transfers, to me it seems obvious. Swansea want routledge, we want taylor, straight swap (or also give £1m). Nathan clyne (can't remember the club) give them perch and £1m. Smith+£1.5m to leeds for gradel or snodgrass. Xisco+£7m to PSG for Erdinic.
Opinions welcome.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Re smith - absolutely, as a Leeds fan and a huge smithy fan I'd bite your hand off Gradel is a sulky but classy player, no good keeping him if he's going to spit the dummy out about wages. Not happy that we're allegedly waiting til after the Newcastle friendly he should go now lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Snodgrass would cost at least 5m and they would want at least 3m for gradel so your values are way off

Agree1 Disagree0

For starters if you want to swap a player the other team has to be interested in him. Why the hell would PSG want xisco? get with it before posting tosh

Agree1 Disagree0

Old tightwad actually wants closer to £8m for Snoddy (crazy I know) according to rumours. Strange. I'm a Lufc fan but both are overrated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Taylor has just signed a new improved contract with Swansea City, he has already stated that he is happy at Swansea and believes its the best club for him to be at to develop as a player. He was flatterd by Newcastle's intrest but he is not intrested in a move.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Snodgrass is a very good left winger, Gradel looks good also

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i think both look like canny players, are they really any better than what we have got? Jonas a good player and cabaye can play wing aswell as barton then there is routledge who did ok for us in the championship and young sammy and ferguson So personally i think we dont really want them as the players we got are better

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Smith always play up front before he joined us?

I can't understand why we've never really tested his ability as a striker. Nile Ranger...or someone who has scored goals in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suppose Alan's lack of pace has suggested hes better off sticking to defensive midfield but at Championship level with Leeds he's be ok as a striker ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a look at xisco on wikipeda he started off as striker and record looks good could be worth a punt as cf

Reading the Daily Star today,

it looks like we've signed Darren Clarke for 2,000,000

fantastic news

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Shhh at that price the SMB will try to get him Watch their page in next few days there will be apparent interest Always is

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. nice to see where the moneys going though

Havent seen last nights game but reports i have read state ben arfa and marveux were flying and looking sharp and creating alot before ben arfa got injured Also abeid was looking good when he come on Hope so

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Also heard Krul was kept alot busy in your goal by an average american team

Agree1 Disagree3

You mean with their two shots on target? yeah he really had to be on the top of his game, could have been a real hiding only for him!

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean Sunderland got beat 3-1?

Agree9 Disagree1

Did you see USA in the world cup? Looked a good side and their players improving fast so to say "an average american team" is a bit disrespectfull. But to be honest having now seen the team i see that your comment was totally made up and your obviously a SMB If your gonna comment then make sure you know what your talking about or you will get owned

Agree1 Disagree0

Wow a friendly newcastle are world beaters getting a draw at a bog standard american team now aren't they? don't read too much into them. What about 3 of your players not allowed into the US.HAHA SGBS

Agree0 Disagree1

And SAFC are champions league contenders getting well beat off a average german side who are mid table constantly in bundesligue Ooh barca want to watch you lot In anyones book a draw better than a defeat whether its a friendly or competitive cos it build morale Start losing and a trend can grow

Agree0 Disagree0

2 werent allowed cos of the way they have behaved in the past and thats their fault You have to be clear of any trouble for 5 years to get a visa to work in the usa and not a lot of people are whiter than white but fair enough that is their own fault but cabaye couldnt because of a mix up over an unpaid dental bill and thats just shocking really He left without paying so a report was made to the embassy who deals with the visas Mental really but thats how it works Plus joey was there in june for his hols so bit double standard of the US embassy

Agree0 Disagree0

Remind us of when we said Newcastle are now World beaters.
Also they're in the middle of the MLS season so there fitness is much better.

Agree0 Disagree0

And they're used to playing in the heat.
Also they beat Man U 2-1 this time last year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Hannover finished 4th in the Bundesliga last season.. Just sayin'.

Can't judge the team on preseason results, I wish people would understand this. New players are still settling, no one is fully match fit, lots of rotation. We got beat 6-1 by f***ing Leyton Orient the season we went down, what did we do that season? We walked through the season and got promoted.

I know all may not agree, but Niko Kalinic of Blackburn has handed in a transfer request, could he do a job at NUFC? I think Blackburn are poney and style of play is just hoofing the ball, i reckon he'd be good with the right service? Any1 else agree?

ED do you think if Ben Arfa's injury turns out too be worse than what we think do you reckon we will bring someone else in or just sticking with the current squad and if so any idea who?

{Ed042's Note - I would imagine we would have to with the system we are looking to implement, few young back ups there but would be a massive gamble throwing them in at the deep end.. or alternatively we would have to switch back to 442 which leaves us in the same scenario essentially, needing a top striker, squad is decent and has a bit of versatility in it in attacking players but without a signing or two its still a bit reliant on them staying fit, especially if you lose Ben Arfa}

HATEM BEN ARFA was today his way back to Tyneside after picking up an ankle injury in Newcastle United's opening game of the US tour.

The talisman went down just after half an hour after an ankle injury caused by a reckless challenge in the game with Sporting Kansas City.

Toon boss Alan Pardew did not seem too concerned about the problem last night but United have sent Ben Arfa back to England as a precautionary measure and will look at the injury again in 48 hours.

A United statement said: "Hatem Ben Arfa sustained an injury to his left ankle in a tackle during the club's friendly against Sporting Kansas on Wednesday evening and went to a local hospital for a precautionary x-ray.

"Consequently he will be leaving the club's US tour and the injury will be reassessed over the next 48 hours."SOURCE- CHRONICLE

Believable1 Unbelievable0

How can a player be a talisman after 4 games?

Agree1 Disagree0

Cos if the team plays through him and is shaped to maximise the player then he is the talisman of the team and what with him being one of if not the best player we have then that make him the talisman

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if ever there was an indication that we need to spend it is now. Ben Arfa has been injured again and although know one knows the extent of his ankle injury I am feeling pessimistic.

Pardew has said he would be playing a more forward role (excuse not to get a decent striker in). Maybe the hierchary need to consider that Hatem may be one of these players that is injury prone?

If so there is only one thing we can do and that is bolster the squad, and not with 'Kuqi' quality but 'Shearer' quality.

Geo

Believable2 Unbelievable0

There is no shearer out there He was the last of a dying breed Was the best at what he did and if was one out there now he would be in the 50, 60, 70 million bracket

Agree0 Disagree0

I know there ain't no Shearer out there but you know what I mean. We have strength in every position except for up front so lets buy some quality so we have a solid unit of talent.

Geo

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry mate i wasnt digging when said no shearer out there I was kinda saying i wish there was and we had him haha Agree with you tho on buying quality

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2011 03:17:13
how come we can never scout or get any talent before anyone else Marco Bueno is close to signing a five year deal with liverpool he has been dubbed the next javier hernandez would of been cut price and low wages

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What about tiote? we got himbefore anyone else and he is a real talent

Agree1 Disagree0

The next Javier Hernandez? f*** me it used to be things like the next Pele... Now we're using players who have had one season in the Premiership and markers.. What next? "The next Haris Vuckic"?

When will ben arfa not get Injured Then when ba's knee goes what's gonna happen? Lovenkrands sitting behind shola again? Europe here we come

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One very serious injury and a twisted ankle hardly makes him injury prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

It really is pathetic this. Lovenkrands and Shola would not even be a good striker pair in the swedish crappy league.

Agree1 Disagree0

He has twisted his ankle so should be ok for the season starting Ba had a injury last year but wasnt known for being injury prone prior to this so with the rest and full pre season could be ok As for shola and lovekrands they would be hard pushed to be top players anywhere but are not too bad of player to make up a squad and dont forget shola got some good goals last season

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2011 02:28:21
ben arfa just been stretchered off in the friendly after another bad challenge apparantly hope it isnt as serious as his last injury.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2011 02:14:31
Oh no Ben Arfa stretchered off this is the last thing we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Havent seen the challenge how bad does it look

Agree0 Disagree0

He's just twisted his ankle was precautionary.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are reporting on nufc that it is most likely to be a slight twist and he was taken off as a precaution so doesnt look to much of a problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Supposedly Ben Arfa was smiling on the way off on the stretcher probably realised how lucky he was it wasn't worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh club doctor just confirmed nothing serious

Agree0 Disagree0

May actually be worse than what we think will have to wait for the swelling to go down before getting an accurate assessment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are everyone expecting big name players coming thru the door? Where has everyone been since fat lad took over, its not how it works with him hasn't anyone realised this yet? If I'm wrong please name me 1we will only sign young UNPROVEN players with potential so stop with the sturridges, berbatovs etc...

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Surely sturridge is unproven with potential had less than half a season in prem last year and few sub apps for chelsea

20 Jul 2011 23:17:19
Would anyone else like to see Bellamy back? I dont think he would cost a lot (3 or 4m) he will score 10 to 15 goals and would work of ba or shola I think it's wortha go {Ed001's Note -
