Same as last seasons tactics, one up front who is constantly offside and his first touch like a billiard cushion and no-one close enough to help him. Can anyone tell me what Steve Stone brings to the coaching staff what a legend like Peter Beardsley cannot? As for the players, we let a fullbacks contract run down and he left for free to be replaced by a 6m player who couldn't lace his boots. YES I rate Simpson far better than Debuccy. Taylor? Hopefully Mbwia and Colo will make a good partnership to keep our most overated defender away from first team duty. Long season ahead with nothing to look forward to because even if tacticless Pardew gets the bullet, we will end up with Joke Kinnear. Oh the life of a Newcastle United supporter.

You are dead right about Simpson mate.
Claude Debussy the composer (he's been dead for an awful long time) could have done better than our French "star" on Monday night.

Fullback just need to be good at defending yet we always try to get ones that are good going forward.

Look at Ivanovic of Chelsea. Strong defender at RB that doesn't bomb forward every chance he gets yet he still scores afew every season.

We really should play Mbiwa at RB then buy a new CB. Mbiwa has the pace and defending ability to be one of ge best RBs in the league.

There saying on newsnow website that joke and co are on scouting mission haha they should be bidding for players now 10 days left in transfer Market. so if we sell cabs for £20mill we get gomis for £8.5mill & gourcuff for say 5mill will ashley pocket the rest along with the tv money from last season & this season prob just over 100mill and that's just tv money listen I don't blame joke or pardew it is Ashley he just won't put the money up for transfers. It's a joke that we have to sell before we can buy smaller clubs getting players over the line no problem so why can't we. Getting really fed up with all the bad press we get now it's a joke I love supporting Newcastle but I've got me health to think of.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And I am only 37
No players are going to come in. Prob two of are better players leaving for even more profit

Agree0 Disagree0

Saying 'And I am only 37' only works if we know what age you really are. You could be 37.

Also, how do you know for sure that we aren't going o sign anyone? Let us into the information.

Agree0 Disagree0

I should of said am only 37 and supporting the toons giving me bad health it was a joke. even if we get gomis & gourcuff it will be like signing no one because on the evidence of what we've bought from France already. Sh. e

I don't care who it is we buy but we need about 5 new players as they have got to be better than what we saw on Monday.

CB, CM, LM & CF. plus backups.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is going to be difficult to attract players after that horror show against Man City.

We need a performance against West Ham, otherwise players are going to turn their nose up.

The funds from Cabaye sale would be sufficient to buy Lennon and Sigurdsson, no? They are soon to be surplus at Spurs and I'm told by a Spurs fan (always knows what he's talking about) that they are both keen to be playing every week and are willing to listen to offers, although apparently Lennon is keen to stay in London. Wages may be a stumbling block too. In truth, there is already ample funds to buy both of them and then some, but of course that would require ambitious, football-loving ownership.

As well as these two, Sakho (maybe Dawson/Kaboul if Spurs invest some of the Bale money in their defence) to push Steven Taylor down the pecking order and a striker with a bit of presence in the box (Traore, Finnbogason?) would be ample to see us finish in the top half and play some exciting football

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sigs is one of the worst finishers I have ever seen. Add to that his wages were too high for Liverpool, and he has flopped since then.

I doubt Levy will buy him out, knowing what Spurs are like.

Probably best to not do business with Tottenham at all.

Can you imagine how long it would take Levy and Ashley to come to an agreement. That one does not bare thinking about.

JK trap has flung open again. Quoted as saying he is trying to sign 3 players before Saturday. Has not signed a player all summer but will get 3 in 4 days. Not a chance.

Just to help those who wonder why Nice not Lyon
See Easy Jet destinations Newcastle to Nice no direct flights to Lyon Monaco or Marseilles.
Clearly we are using Low cost airlines so we can afford to make a bid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Then take a bus to Lyon and back, I guess.

Think people need to know cabaye is not worth 20mil and if he hands in a transfer request then we will be lucky to get 12-15mil. No point in keeping a player who wants to leave paying his wages when he won't give a toss about the team. Sell him quick and get a replacement otherwise we will end up not getting a replacement or he won't leave because Newcastle value him at a stupid price and he won't perform for the team. Rather have somone who will give it 100% and not be angry that we didn't let him go to a CL team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Erm. He would still play his heart out this season. It's a world cup season. He wouldn't risk not being selected. If anything this is the season that clubs have most power. If Ashley really didn't want to sell he could just tell cabaye he'd ruin his world cup chances by sticking him in the reserves.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Mackems are rampant eh? we got beat by one of the best teams in the world (not surprising)a Cabaye offer gets flatly knocked back, and they think it is an invite to raid our page, spouting a load of nonsense.

Watch and see what happens on their page when they get thumped by the Saints this weekend ;)

Normal service to be resumed shortly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you do invite after all, take a look at the top of the page, it says banter, get it?.

Gourcuff would be interesting is 27 has achieved everything 29 caps, played for big clubs. has had injury problems and has to have the right manager, Ancelloti, Puel and others didn't work, the guy at PSG did. Think he on his way down, prefer Clement Grenier. that's why Lyon want rid like Gomis too!

After what we saw on Monday it looks like we need a lot more than a couple of new players. But to be honest I think the problem is just as much the tactics as the players.

Only players I am happy with are Krul, Colo, Mbiwa, Ben Arfa and pos. Cisse. Everyone else just doesn't look good enough. If you give Cisse the service he can score.

Debuchy is shocking. Tiote, Jonas, Sissoko, Anita are all a waste of space as offer nothing to the team other than 'working hard'.

In today's modern game you don't need to a strong tackler to play defensive midfield. It's just all about being in the right position, keeping possession and not giving it away. None of our midfield can do this. We must be the worst passing team in the premiership, even worse than West Ham with big Sam as their manager.

We don't have a style/way of playing. We look like we are hoping that the opposition will make mistakes which will give us a chance to score. We have no creativity. Know one wants the ball, it's just hit and hope.

But I feel a lot of this is down to the team/player selection and the tactics. Am sure our defence would be okay if the correct players were picked in the right positions and our midfield kept a hold of the ball. We need to drop Debuchy and play Mbiwa at rightback. Then buy a new CB as Taylor is too stupid and like Debuchy a liability. Alderwield would be great with Colo and the Santon, Hadira or Dummett at LB.

Cabeye can play but he is gone so Ben Arfa is our only good midfielder.

Cisse, Gouffran and Remy would again do ok if the midfield was better.

So we need a CB, 2 x CM and a left winger brought in within 2 weeks. No chance!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would not take a genius to figure out that we need to start using the flanks, and drop Tiote.

What on earth is the management playing at.

Same thing every game, hurried and rushed running into midfield, followed by a long ball. Absolute amateur hour.

I was all for giving Pardew a go this season, by what the hell was that against Man City?

I know a few said there were less longballs, but that is probably because most of out posession came from pulling the ball out of the net, throw ins and the odd free kick.

Agree0 Disagree0

The best defensive midfielders around are Alonso, Pirlo, Xavi and Verratti yet none of them are well known for their tackling. Is all about keeping and using the ball well and not being caught out of position.

Being able to pass is the main attribute needed.

Chelsea have started to play Ramirez at DCM with lampard and Oscar in front. Ramirez isn't a strong tackler but is a lot better with he ball them mikel.

Huddlestone now at hull would have been a good buy in that position, a lot better than Tiote, Sissoko or Anita.
