Watched the Helsingborgs V Celtic game tonight. Have to say Fraser Forster was fantastic. I have a feeling we have missed a trick there. 2 million is starting to look like a steal and he is turning into a top quality keeper!

Roy Hodgson should be watching, the big man is better than Ruddy or Butland from what i can see!

Wish the big man the best!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I was on this site saying he has potential to be the next England number 1 and argued against him signing for Celtic and everyone disagreed with me. Celtic got a complete steal there, Forster will be back in the premier league in a few years and sold for around the 10 million mark. {Ed055's Note - Time will tell if this boy is class, dare i say it but he is plating in the SPL (our league 1 standard) and you watched him V Helsinborgs - far from Barca and Inter but I like your thinking

Agree1 Disagree0

He might only be playing in SPL but you still have to save shots collect high balls from corners distribution etc and he does them all well

Agree2 Disagree0

Surely the spl is at least championship standard! I cant name any teams that would challenge celtic and co in the division mentioned and only a handfull in championship could

Agree1 Disagree0

The Scots Prem is better quality than League One. Look at Jelavic, one of the best strikers in Prem League and wasnt that brilliant in the Scottish Prem.

This isn't really a rumour but I replied to a post on Michael Owen on here earlier and I would just like more people to view my opinion and change my mind on why I think a lot of our fans hate him. Here was my reply:
I really don't understand the criticism this guy gets from a lot of our small minded fans....He had a fantastic goal scoring record for us (a goal every other game.) He suffered two dreadful injuries and 1 of those was because he risked himself to try and get us a goal by going into a 50/50 with I think Paul Robinson. The other was on England duty. So did you guys expect him to take a pay cut or something? Because that would be unheard of...No players would even consider that! It's also not his fault Freddy Shepherd offered him the massive salary and we knew about his past history with injuries before we signed him. Also if you remember Newcastle received a MASSIVE payment from the FA to cover his wages. I could be wrong here but Owen has always spoken fondly of the Newcastle fans and the club and always puts them in the same context as Liverpool, United and Madrid when talking about his career. I would like someone to change my opinion on this by finding evidence of Owen bad mouthing our club or fans. Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Owen is History so leave it there as we have other things to consider like AP ban is Perch up to it as is Saylor, can we Get bye with out a natural LB and back up striker and that is why this club is going nowhere an also ran at best

Agree3 Disagree1

Agreed mate ,I remember when he signed and the hoards that welcomed him,he was really moved by the welcome. Injuries happen and as you say FA covered the England one.

Agree0 Disagree2

You must be having a bad day. Does not sound as if you had even watched any of the pre season games. If you had you would see that the team this season has much more strength in depth. The two new payers Bigi and Ami are both decent Sylvan is back and he is also decent. We played ok against Spurs and won thats 3 points on one of our rivals come on now what more can u sak for ?

Agree2 Disagree2

What about when he signed his contract extension with Man United?
I'd rather play a few games at a club and win a medal than play every game at a smaller club I've been there and didn't enjoy it.
I had alot of respect for him until then a footballer should wanna play everygame they can

Agree4 Disagree0

This is one of the better thought out wind ups so I will give you credit for this one.

Owen laid on the Injury bench and repaid the club by walking away from the club for free after we spent 17 million to nurse him to health (plus 12mil for Martins to have someone to play while he sat on the injury bench)

At the very least Owen could have signed a short 2 year deal with our Blessing that we would sell him so that we could recoup a small part of the huge fee for him, All in all Owen came to Newcastle and messed us around then walked off laughing at us.

There is a very good reason barely anyone in the English game likes Owen, Even Man Utd fans do not like him. Owen at this point still thinks he is too good for teams like Stoke. For a kid that had so much ability when he was 18 he ruined his career with his attitude.

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen has put Newcastle fans in the same context as Man Utd fans, Is that supposed to be a compliment lol.

Roy Keane used to call them the Prawn Sandwich brigade and that was back when they were in their most passionate times, Newcastle fans are nothing like Man Utd fans. No disrespect but Man Utd is more of a marketing spun entertainment venue than a football club, The theatre of dreams is more like a cinema for Tourists.

Agree1 Disagree0

Pretty sure he hates newcastle now... i remember he said something about us on Twitter.... he must have forgotten us fans paid for his 100,000 a week salary.

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen has lived on that goal against argentina for years and took the p**s out of nearly every club since he left loserpool, the past few years hes never even been interviewed about football, only about his horses,he should do football a favour and leave to read his racing post...

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Owen doesn't speak kindly of Newcastle fans. I don't class myself as small minded I do class myself as having sight however. He had no heart, bottled challenges was never fit allegedly. He doesn't care about football he has no passion. How can you play football for 90 minutes and never have s hair out of place. Worst signing we ever made and I can't stand the garden gnome {Ed055's Note - agreed on that 1

Agree6 Disagree0

Owens persona said he didnt want to be at newcastle ,he couldnt raise a smile when he signed or when he scored his body language on the pitch was atrocius watching him getting interviewed made me cringe and could not get out of toon any quicker when his contract was up,having turned down improved contract offers .then there was the famous quote on twitter when he said hed rather not be playing at a quality side like man u than playing for a crap team like nufc or words to that effect.owens time at newcastle can best be described as a disaster and the worst signing in our history.is that enough...del

Agree2 Disagree0

I blame the club for ever stumping up all that cash, if we'd have bought an 18/21yr old Owen I wuda been ova the moooooon. But unlucky for the fans and the club Owen was bought when he was on the slide as a footballer. Newcastle had a lot of bad players in that squad aswell. Obafemi Martins did not link up wit Owen at all he just waited for the ball to be played to his feet before even deciding what he was gonna do with it, with the pace Martins has he shuda been working the channels pulling defenders aboot and always on the look out to latch onto thru balls. This forced a declining Owen to operate pretty much in midfield, forced to drop deep just to see a bit of the ball. Not defending Owen but I don't think things are as Black and White as some people make em out to be. Owens not at the club anymore and we have some of the best 1st team players that i have seen in years so I'm happy for the past to be the past and to look forward as a Newcastle Utd fan :D

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a massive mistake the first time. He is also a money grabbing horrible human. When injured he was asked if he would help out with things like visiting schools/hospitals/community projects as most other players get involved with. He flatly refused, and stayed in the NW with his horses. My only really regret is that he didn't have a career ending injury whilst he was at NUFC so we could have claimed back on the insurance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone asked a question why we dont like him hes got some replys has your opinion changed

Dawson from spurs on the radar would be a good signing

Believable6 Unbelievable7

A good signing for the physio maybe, Also Dawson is easier to turn than a revolving door. (when fit)

So everyone in the league has now played. After watching highlights and some of the games, i think we are in decent shape if you compare with other sides.
Liverpool looked awful, and without a clear game plan (missing a striker/midfield/full backs)
Spurs looked good apart from lack of fire power, and maybe another midfielder.
Arsenal, looked blunt. Strikers may come good, but then again. Midfield looked a bit light weight.
Chelsea looked good, as did City when they got into their stride.
Man Utd, may struggle to challenge for the league this season, as their midfield looked very weak.
Everton looked strong, although this was mainly down to 1 player Fellani.

So all in all we looked decent, especially if you compare with the teams that were around us last season. Hopefully a couple of additions, and we should have another good season.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Having seen fulham score five last season against us, and them bang in another 5, dont underestimate the smaller clubs we have to beat, hope i wrong but i getting negative on cisse, goes missing during games, easy shoved off ball,

Agree3 Disagree6

Lol one game in and were being negative about cisse give your head a shake man

Agree4 Disagree2

Shake shake, but besides some great strikes, i was starting to think that towards end of last season. Ba and cisse for senagal upfront hardly set the world alight as a parnership, hope im wrong |

Agree1 Disagree2

We are run niƱa with what we have got and that is the first mistake with the 2nd NO Perch Saylor and Raylor can not contain players from the top 4 clubs OR the 4/5 clubs Who finished below us
Another bumpy road ahead and all the comments about 3/4 players coming in Were as we NOW know hot wind

Agree1 Disagree2

I can't agree or disagree with the comment above, as it makes no sense at all.
Are people really wondering if Ba, and Cisse will score goals? Really? Have they just been transplanted onto this earth from a different planet. Wow.

Agree2 Disagree0

Both had half a good season each in scoring terms but together, ? struggled against spurs

Agree2 Disagree2

Liverpool looked good in my opinion, It is suarez letting them down by fluffing chance after chance, The heads dropped after West brom got a unstoppable goal and agger sent off was the end. If Liverpool could finish chances it would have been a different game.

Also Chelsea are not all that impressive, Wigan got caught napping but that was the first 7 minutes of football of the season and the 2nd was a penalty, Chelsea were held to a draw at home by Wigan for over 80 minutes of that game.

Agree0 Disagree0

No Newcastle fan would criticise Cisse, Tottenham had him picked out for special treatment by the defenders and he was chasing long ball scraps all game.

And if you call 13 goals in 14 games at the end of last season as drifting out of games I would love to see what you call being full involved in games, Do you find Messi and Ronaldo are not quite up to scratch too?

Agree1 Disagree0

Obviously it is 1 person making all the comments about Cisse and Ba. (Probably gets his information from and reads players reviews instead of watching games)

Agree1 Disagree0

Drifting out of games is called trying to find space, which if players don't give you, is a sign of respect. they marked him tight all game, and they were punished by Ba, then ben arfa when they tried to back off.
