No way we will sign Debuchy or De jong, there far to heavily linked with us for us to actually end up signing them, it will all be a smoke screen to cover up our real targets, Gervinho, Gameiro, Nzogbia all linked last year for big fees, none actually signed, the one thing thats for sure about the Ashley era is he keeps his cards VERY close to his chest, how many times were cabaye, marveux, tiote, cisse linked to us b4 they signed?? NOT ONCE, everyones guessing at the mo, one thing we do know is that Carr has watched ALOT of dutch football this season (seen him with my own to eyes at the amsterdam arena when i watched Ajax v PSV) he's also allegedly watched alot of french football therefore expect a few unheard of players from Holland and France who will no doubt end up being superstars, but disregard everyone you hear mentioned in the press cos it will no doubt be some journo having an educated guess at VERY best.
My guesses (no doubt not all of them will sign);
IN
Barnetta
Drenthe
Pogba
Ebert
Sulejmani
Blind
Sigborsson
Guidetti
OUT (the ones we care about)
Tiote (big bucks)
Ba
Best
Think what you want of this post, the players mentioned are little more than an educated punt but just remember it come august 31st.......be interesting to how much is right
Not one those in will come in and non of those outs will leave other maybe than Ba. But confident he will stay. Also confidnet that we can can get both De jong and Debcuhcy
Totally agree with first post. Can anyone name a signing we made that was publicly made known before they were actually here for a medical
Times change, clubs aren't just going to let us take players on the cheap and watch them become top class. i think ashley himself knows our transfer policy will have to change to stay in the top 5/6. De Jong will sign for £9.5m cash upfront. Debuchy will sign for £9m up front also. hopefully we'll have some more news on De Jong in the next few days.
Notice how unpopular the opposite opinion (and probabaly the truth) can be? 5 disagrees wowza. to the first reply, why are you confident they will come in? As stated in the second reply (thanks for agreeing by the way) who of the players we have signed in the Ashley era were actually linked with us b4 they signed? Name one and i will be impressed, heres a few that werent; Tiote, Cabaye, Marveaux, Ba, Cisse, Simpson, Williamson, Gutierrez, Ben Arfa (loan), Xisco, Gonzalez (blast from the past) all Ashley era signings and all unlinked before we saw them paraded on the website in there black and white stripes. To say your confident we will get Debuchy and De jong surely you must have something else to go on other than local press telling us what a) we want to hear b) the club want us to hear c) sells papers. To the third reply, the only adjustment Ashley has made to his way of thinking/transfer policy since he's been here is bringing in Carr, now dont get me wrong I have no problem with any policy we have in place re signings, after all its working, but one thing I KNOW wont happen is Ashley wont change HIS policy, therefore its wise to assume that the players we bring in will be cheap, young enough to improve (and gain value) and probably unknow to most of us, hence guessing at freebies and defo not a certain RB who is increasing in value with every passing euro game and certainly not the top scorer (i think, havent checked) from the Eredivisie who by the by is attracting interest from Bayern Munich and as far as Im aware has been for a loooong time. If im wrong then happy days we will have signed a prolific striker and yet another french international, like i said in my original post, just bear this in mind for august 31st........
Cabaye said he was going to join us but we hadn't actually tied up a deal, and what about amalfitano? He was heavily linked with us a while before we signed hom
Yeah big mikes guna spend 18m+ on just two players, give your head a shake, we havent spent 18m in one window since fat freddy was in charge, 18mil will be more than pards gets to spend in the whole window, you dont make money in the europa league, ashley will know this, it ended up COSTIN stoke money!
I agree however we were linked with cisse in the summer before we had him but pulled out as the price was too high, we were linked with ben arfa before he signed as he refused to turn up at marseille remember but at the same time there have been more than a couple turn up out of the blue but I think even the sun shines on a dogs backside somedays so the more name's thrown out there the more chance someone has of getting at least one right
From the original posters list ,Guidetti could be right as Danish press reporting he's in talks with Toon 21.6.12 .
He is from Sweden so who cares what the Danish press says.
So you dont believe anything english press say unless its about english players then? or how about l'equipe unless its about a frenchman? Dont see how nationality of the paper makes a difference...........JT
Ok so maybe the term "never sign anyone were linked with" was to broad a term, Amalfitano yip, we were defo linked with him and Ben arfa too but I dont remember any press linking us with Cisse, I seem to remember the story of us having previously pulled out due to the price being too high was only released after we had signed him.....could be wrong though. Still my original point hasnt been disproved, 2 players we were linked too having signed for us compared to the NUMEROUS we have either been linked with then not signed (Zog, Gervinho, Gameiro, erdinc, debuchy? De jong?) implying the club release details of certain players to certain journos to distract press and other clubs from who were really after, we all know our scouting network is second to none and im sure this hasnt gone un-noticed by other clubs so it makes sense really, no doubt this summer will be the same, we will wake up one day and another unknown will have signed who will no doubt end up being total class........if nothing else i got some convo going tho eh :)
last thing, my original guesses as to who we could be interested in, add Michael Johnson to that list.........wouldnt be the first time weve took a Manchester club reserve player now would it :-/
I remember the year we were relegated we tried to sign Michael Johnson in the January but failed so maybe as we do like a player returning from a bad injury however I hear he is a really big party animal so would be best staying clear
