I reckon a swap deal with Arsenal should be made. Enrique in exchange for Chamakh. It would suit both teams as Chamakh isn't getting playing time and Enrique looks as though he wants to leave.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chamakh plus about 5-10 mil maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

No not really He isnt doing it at arsenal and looks to be a expensive flop so why would we want him if we want to push on to the next level Need a proven goal scorer to go with ba

seen Peter Beardsley in Newcastle the other day, apparently he's wanted to play alongside demba ba
oh wait I'm not dreaming anymore. Beardsley was great, what happened to those days? still love the toon though

Does anyone know why routledge is favouring a move to forest and Leicester than Swansea. I am guessing they pay more and he's maybe looking for a promotion push instead of a relegation battle, but any views, and also why does par dew not rate him..?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He probably dousnt fancy wales. not enough clubs or shops for that pr**k is the most likely reason. he would rather play for a champoinship club in england than a preimership club in wales

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe prefers to bide his time in coming to the premiership with a team who goona stay there Surprised he turned down QPR to be honest

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably cause he don't be able to get Nathan Dyer out of the team whereas if he goes to Forest he'll walk into the team.

To KRTOON, i'm a Geordie mate and a love looking on here to see what the crack is but seriously mate ............ you need to get a girlfriend or summit cos you have WAY too much time on ya hands like

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Haha how do you figure that mate?

KRTOON

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos it take me about 20 minutes to read ya posts so am guessing it must take you alot longer to research and type them, so either ya single or you've got a p*ssed off missus sitting in the front room cracking one off to Deirdre Barlow's latest love interest

Agree1 Disagree0

Was gona lay in if you replied with something stupid but that made me laugh... listen im glad youve taken it upon yourself to be my personal counsellor but theres no need to worry, me and the missus are just fine, as far as I know? ha.. worried about you though lad, takes you as long to read it as it does for me to write it!.. ah no all joking aside, reason i do it mate is I study journalism, want to be a sports writer and its good practice, simple as.. but thanks for your concern all the same lad.. youll have the missus checking out coro now to see who this bloke is youre on about that lobbing one into Deirdre Barlow ha he must be desperate

KRTOON

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes a change a newcastle fan talking sense, but KRTOON actually does, shame their isn't more honest krak between the fans than the same old banter, but newcastle always give us new stuff to take the mick out of. Last was 3 players can't get Visa's

sturridge transfer is not going to happen, he wants to stay and fight for his place at chelsea. it was never going to be a permanent transfer anyway. we should move on and go for kalou or the banguras

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Stop banging on about kalou he cant stop tripping over his own feet he is definately no better than what we have already got

Agree3 Disagree2

I would take kalou over any of our strikers The lad doesnt figure much for chelsea but would score more goals given a run of games

No wonder we keep signing French players championship players are ridiculously expensive, Long £9m, McGugan£5m, Lallana£5m, Oxlade- Chamberlaine £12m not even proven at Premier level

Believable4 Unbelievable0

McGugan £5m? I think he would be more than that otherwise he would've been bought already. Think he would be a great signing though if we could get a good price..

Agree2 Disagree1

Agree 100% about english based players All seem to be over priced and never live up to thier potential A lot of french players have done well over ere like henry and petit and viera and ginola and cantona and anelka and ..........

Agree0 Disagree0

It makes wickham 2 sound like a bit of a bargain

Agree0 Disagree0

If he cuts it and improves on his showing and gets up to premier level and scores regulary then could be a bargain but at the moment he is a expensive gamble.....but some do pay off

toon leaving it late to buy proven premiership players. I have heard from my source at sjp pardew and ashley want championship players before the transfer window closes. surely we fans deserve better than french kids and championship level players. I am beggining to fear the worst for next season.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I doubt you're even a Geordie because if you were you would of realised we have signed one 18 year old French player the rest are over 24.

Agree3 Disagree4

Definatley a smb just trying to have a dig Daft thing is he has committed a cardinal sin by pretending to be a fan of his most hated rivals....tut..tut

Agree0 Disagree0

And how is he leaving it late when the window open for another 5 weeks? Loads of time Was an early flurry by a few clubs but hasnt been wholesale changes to many at all so loads of time

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2011 11:04:17
still 42 days until the end of the transfer season so still lots of chances of signing a striker. -DP

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Exactly. Some people are getting their knickers in twist because we haven't made a signing in a while. We're only a third of the way through the transfer window

Agree0 Disagree2

According to AP we wont make any for the next 1 to 2 weeks either Waitin for replies maybe or sales of some of our unwanted staff

Agree0 Disagree0

If you work it like this- we have made 4 signings in the first 4 to 5 weeks of the window and there is around 5 to 6 weeks left of this window then there is enough time to get another 4 to 5 players in if was what the wanted to do

As for Newcastle, we re without the Joey Barton, Nile Ranger and Yohan Cabaye due to visa issues, and Shane Ferguson and Danny Guthrie both have ankle injuries. So the players we have available are:

Keepers: Harper, Forster, Krul.

Defenders: Simpson, Coloccini, Saylor, Enrique, Williamson, Perch, Tavernier.

Midfielders: Marveaux, Jonas, Ben Arfa, Gosling, Abeid, Smith, Tiote, Vuckic, Raylor.

Strikers: Ba, Best, Lover, Shola.

I would imagine our first choice starting XI from that would be something like:

Krul; Simpson, Saylor, Colo, Enrique; Marveaux, Jonas, Tiote, Gosling; Ben Arfa, Ba.
CB

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Cabaye?

Agree0 Disagree0

Williamson isn't with the squad as his wife is expected to give birth soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cabaye isn't with the squad in the US.

Enrique is going to be sold soon

Well guys, Joel Campbell's transfer to Arsenal has fallen through and apparently another team in the Premiership is in talks with him.

Could the Toon be preparing a cheeky bid? I hope so cos at £900,000 I think he is a steal.

Geo

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Agreed. He'd be a great acquisition. And at a price that even Ashley couldn't turn his nose up at.

Agree0 Disagree1

Reports from the north west is that wigan put a bid in first before arsenal hijacked the deal and still fancy there chances.

Doe's anybody else think Newcastle are doing well in the transfer window?

if on an first somebody said ur gunna sell carroll, nolan and enrique. and buy demba Ba cabeye and other french players with no prem ex would you be happy with this? Ashley is a twobit croney.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Carroll went in january so bit late news and enrique leaving the club with no other option which is the general belief with carroll too then only nolan the club could have done something about so i dont think we doing too bad Will have to wait and see what these lads can do first

I know there's still about 5 weeks left in the transfer window but starting to get concerned about our lack of action in signing a striker. All the potential talked about players seem to be either signing for other clubs or staying put. Is it because we are seriously trying to buy or just making offers that are to low in transfer fees or wages. I can see we will get to the last day and panic buy someone like Carlton Cole. We need to get a striker as soon as possible so the rest of the players have some pre-season time to get to work with him and if it's to be either Demba Ba or Ben Arfa upfront with him they can start to get and understanding together instead of a last day signeing and then we are 5 or 6 games in before this happens. Apart from Arsenal at home we should be looking with our midfield to get some early points on the board. I can Gervinho scoring against us on the opening day. Sell Enrique asap for as much as we can he doesn't want to stay and again replace him so the defensive unit can start working together.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Gee whiz i can see everyone scoring against you

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe 5? Does that ring any bells to you? smb

just had a look at squad we have 13 players we could class as 1st team midfielders, but only 8 in defence thats including perch and raylor who are pap, also saylor/kadar with poor injury records add to that enrique leaving we could struggle.defo need a no.9 but would like to get 2 left backs and a centre half , need to get rid of perch/raylor before we buy cover at rb.
still got 6 strikers which is to many need to lose 3 and bring in 1 quality one in.
can see us playing 4-4-2 at home and 4-4-1-1 away, we really need to lose perch, smith, routledge, xisco, lovenkrands asap, looking at our squad i can see why nolans gone .4-4-2 is our normal formation, our squad formation would be 8-13-6 totally unbalanced could mean the end for joey hope not...del

It's hard to know who to believe, there is no believable transfer news coming from the press at the moment which would concern Newcastle. I just want one more striker and I will be happy as long as we don't sell anyone, hopefully that will be Sturridge coming in. Newcastle should play a 4-3-1-2 formation next year.
Harper
Simpson, Taylor, Coloccini (C), Enrique
Cabaye, Tiote, Marveaux
Ben Arfa
Sturridge, Ba
Subs:
Krul, Williamson, Ferguson, Ryan Taylor, Guttierrez, Barton, Best, Ameobi

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I'm a safc fan and although that team looks good on paper and would be good going forward.i feel that team would be weak defensively. although tiote is great in the holding role dont think he would be enough with little defensive support from cabaye and marveaux

Agree1 Disagree0

I think we would all agree with you mate, in my opinion we cant play cababye and marveaux as far back as he is saying my team would be...
Harper
Hutton Saylor Colo Enrique
Barton Tiote
BenArfa Cabaye Marveaux/Jonas
Ba
subs:
Krul, Willo, Simpson, Ferguson, Raylor, Gosling, Best, Ameobi

Although i said Marveaux/Jonas and included none of them on the bench it is more than likely Enrique will leave so Ferguson will go left back and make way for Marveaux or Jonas on the bench. I dont think it is fair to choose Marveux over Jonas because no one has seen him he could be a flop

Agree1 Disagree0

Marveaux is actually decent defensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same defnece as last eyar and we did okay scored more than we conceded

Agree0 Disagree0

First line of defence is attack then midfield so if we can keep the ball more and use it in the final third then should concede less

hi ed now we have to name a squad of 25 whats the criteria as regards young players and young foreign players .how many english are required in squad.hope you can help. del

{Ed042's Note - A lot of confusion about this one lad, especially with the recent changes by the Premier League on the rule.. wasnt sure of all the criteria myself but done a bit of digging, hopefully the info below will clear it up for you}

Premier League clubs must submit squad of up to 25 players by 5pm on September 1

Each 25 man squad must include at least eight ‘home-grown’ players

The ‘home-grown’ players do not have to be English. According to the Premier League: “A home grown player is defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Welsh Football Association for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21) ”

In addition to the 25-man named squad, clubs can use an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under. According to the Premier League: “An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2011/12 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1990”

Clubs can make changes to their squad but only during transfer windows, so once submitted the clubs will be stuck with that squad until January. Only in exceptional circumstances, such as a goalkeeper crisis, can changes be made outside the window, and then only if the Premier League board approves the changes

Once the transfer window opens again, there are no restrictions on how many changes clubs can make to their squads, so they can replace the entire 25 if they want to

Even if a player is not named in the 25-man squad, they can still play in the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League or Europa League

Players from the 25-man squad cannot be replaced if they are loaned to Football League clubs, but can regain their spot in the group if they return to the parent club

Clubs do not have to name a full squad of 25 if they do not have that many contracted players and in this case they can add free agents outside the transfer window. However if they have 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named

Similarly, clubs do not have to name eight ‘home-grown’ players if they do not have enough, but this would mean submitting a reduced squad, meaning if you do not name any home grown players you can only name an 17 player squad, ie 17 foriegners with room for 8 home grown players which you dont have

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thx ed me heads battered after trying to take that in.

hi ed now we have to name a squad of 25 whats the criteria as regards young players and young foreign players .how many english are required in squad.hope you can help. del {Ed001's Note - you can have a maximum of 15 players over the age of 21 that are not classified as homegrown. this time next year nufc will have 7 players whose contracts will have one year left .
harper- probably see out his contract then retire.
routledge- probably sold this window
simpson-in negotiations about new one
raylor-cant see him being offered new contract will try to sell.
xisco- hopefully released wont get money for him, probably have to pay him to leave. about 3m a year over 5 years dennis wise did himself proud there didnt he.
leon best- will he be sold?will we offer him a new contract ?would he sign one as a back up player? my opinion he will be sold this window to maximise profit.
coloccini-the new captain will he meet the same fate as nolan? he will be at a similar age as nolan, he is probably on big money i guess about 75k aweek costing us over 9m from deportivo.apparantly we cant offer a player a lesser contract unless his contract runs out first.cant see us offering him an improved deal if he is already on more than our wage cap, also will be 31 when his contract ends. i got a feeling he will be sold and again probably sooner rather than let him get into his last year whe price will decrease.
something new to talk about instead of lack of signings what do you think?
