Cant believe pardew disagrees with Bartons view that we need to spend big to compete. Pardew gives examples of players that he has bought for nothing ie nicky shorey the fact is these players come along cheep extremely rarely just look at tiote and if we bring in players like this it will increase the chance of us becoming a feeder club because we bring in these players on such small wages and they will espire to more ie tiote and enrique. The fact is if he wants to bring in world class players like he claims he does ie Hulk, nzogbia, van wolfswinkel and gervinho hes going to have to spend the majority of carrols transfer fee and more if it is availible else players like enrique and tiote will leave.
