Congratulations on the win today people, was obertan playing today, and was he any good? johnnybhoy

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Yes he was playing and looked very pacey

Agree2 Disagree1

Obertan was rubbish, ran around like a headless chicken allgame

Agree1 Disagree0

Final ball needs works tho. If he knew what to do with it when in a good position he would create more but wasnt too bad running with ball at his feet

Very very happy, not the best game ever but we ground out the result we needed, Cattermole and Larsson shouldnt of been on the pitch by 90 mins, so i dont think too many mackems can complain too much. Curious how theres not a mackem in sight on our page this evening isnt it..........licking there wounds perhaps? Think I'll just nip onto the unwashed page with this large portion of salt :) pd

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Theres none there either i been checking all night...

well two games 4 points no goals against what a great start, so what have we got 2 good centre backs who are going to get better, a shed full of midfield, the 5 that played today plus at least 5 in reserve very good goalkeeper, that makes for a solid looking team against anyone, so Mr Ashley pleas give us a RB LB and 2 strikers then I believe anything is possible you will get more than your money back that success brings, come on 2 weeks to get a grip Lovethetoon

Believable5 Unbelievable1

If we get santon, cissoko and bryan Ruiz then I'll j1zz myself.

Looks like Long couldve been a good addition, 2 in 2

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Yeah against manu/chelsea as well ,hopefully get maynard thou who would have been my 1st choice out the 2

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah but longs scored twice they been beat twice...only a comment pmsl

Agree0 Disagree0

Both his goals have come from bad mistakes. De Gea should have saved the shot and Alex should have cleared.

Still a good striker takes those opportunities.

Just wondering what team people think we should put out midweek? Here's what I think:

Harper
Simpson, Williamson, S.Taylor (Kadar?) Ferguson
Obertan, Gosling, Cabaye, Marveux
Vuckic
Ba

Going for some youth and experience and letting some new players get some game time and a chance to gel. Maybe if we sign some new players they can be included.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Would put Perch in place of STaylor
Marveux, Gosling, Tiote(he needs more matches) Vukic across the middle
Ba and Lovenkrands up front.
Sure Perch and Lovenkrands will get the thumbs down but if we dont put them in the shop window no one will buy.
Subs Fergie,Sami,Abied and Moyo

Agree0 Disagree0

Harper
Perch wilo taylor ferguson
Gosling tiote
Abeid vuckic marveux
Ba

Harper tiote and marveaux need match fitness
Ba needs to find his form
Fergie perch abeid and vuckic all young with potential
Taylor should be captain to show his leadership skills because he is probaly the future captain if colo goes
And gosling controls the play with his box to box play and passing skills

Agree0 Disagree0

Still think Cabaye should be playing, he needs some time to settle and gel with the team, especially since he missed the usa tour. If he's going to be such an important player for Pardew we need that little bit more from him. Think he will come good once he's had time to settle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I would risk Tiote - keep him clear of yellow cards

To the Tune of Mambo number 5.

A little bit of Seaburn stinks of sh**e,
A little bit of Roker what a sight,
A little bit of Southwick on the dole,
A little bit of Pallion a sh*t hole,
A little bit of Hendon burnt out vans,
A little bit of Fullwell teenage Grans,
A little bit of Pennywell on the run,
A little bit of this makes them all scum.

There have been a lot of comments about Jonas on here and how he is looking inneffective. I totally disagree I think he was brilliant against Arsenal and good today.

I would defo keep playin him just now cos I think he gives R Taylor good cover.

If anyone should be getting negative comments it has to be Danny Simpson. I'm sorry the guy is just not good enough. Wasteful and looks nervous on the ball. I think we we get s lb in R Taylor shd b our starting RB. Better player and look what he gives u from set pieces.

Geo

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Not criticising jonas performance he played an absolute blinder, but it was the link up play tht he had with enrique that we lacked. agree simpson had a bit off a shocker but so did alot of our team, it may just be a case of settlin in properly as weve had a shock of a pre season, and if im wrong of load him in the janurary trasfer window. still need tht LB and a forward (also like to add shane long has scored again for west brom ffs)

Agree0 Disagree1

He was top class today, actually showed why he is an argentinian international, protected a player playing out of position all game, kept the ball when needed, won free kicks to relieve the pressure and all round assisted the team, he was massively unselfish how many wide men would have thrown the pet lip out when asked to do a job for the team

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 17:18:33
Great result, Battling performance. Jonas has got alot of stick on here-mainly replace him with Marveaux, final ball etc.. but when the lad has confidence he is class. If Messi and Maradonna rate him highly, he must be able to play. Just needs a kick up the jacksy every now n then. So chuffed. Thought we would sneek it but lets get a couple of new faces in to cover the areas we know need filling and push on. When the fixtures were produced, I can honestly say I didnt think we would have played two and conceded none Lets get a decent striker in to bang the goals in

Good result today lads well done... Still we need that LB position covered...not sayin R taylor played bad he coped well but sunderland continued to expose that side. Barton did alot to help out there and a very good performance all round. But also noticed Guiterrez as alot of people may have noticed did not have that attacking threat that he should played quite defensively whihc need to be addressed. Again Tiotes not looking full speed yet a few mistakes from him but he was lucky SMB didnt capitlise on it. In regards to the forwards obertan looked alright, but i would of expected him to use his pace to cause alot more problems, and Ameobi did well but jus didnt cause the threat we needed. all in all agood game as we got the 3 points away from home, but also still showed we still need those players in two fill LB and Attack.... Howay the Lads it were fun bein top of the league while it lasted. Toon Fanatic

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Your whole analysis is way off the mark, smarten up, and if your going to comment on a team, at least learn how the game is played, and when jobs have to be done, you do them, i.e. jonas today

It isn't a rumour. We are crap , shocking display against the worst newcastle team I've witnessed anyway. No excuse we played abysmal.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

So you were crap today ,nothing changes at SAFC you were crap in both games last season.

Agree0 Disagree1

The only thing abysmal is you comment colo a s Taylor had another solid game keeping another clean sheet r Taylor scoring a cracken free kick joey been joey still another full heart display for the team jonas caused problem down the left cabeye looks gd put dose need to step up a bit would like to see wat he can do from a dead ball obertan look pacey and ran his legs off all in all a good game

Believable2 Unbelievable0

We wern't the better team today, n if you think we were your heart is ruling your head, cracking result none the less

Agree0 Disagree0

Look person head how many seasons have gone bye when the likes of manu and that played crap but still won thats what matters and any way i personally think the scum only outplayed us for the first 25 minutes and i lived the dream cos i was there...smb

Agree0 Disagree0

We didnt play well but if the match of the day pundits said we edged it (not shearer) i ll take that, safc got lucky today larsson should of had red card and pen for us,how cattermole stayed on the pitch is beyond me,and the lad who got sent off should have walked 30mins earlier.
we wernt very good but to good for them.

The decision not to buy a left back is looking like complete genius. Part of the master plan for pardew

Believable3 Unbelievable2

And what will happen if Ryan gets injured? We need a real left back

Agree3 Disagree0

Hes garbage, just because of 1 good game don't jump on the saviour band wagon, an over hit cross, fair enough a goal all the same, but sessegnon tortured taylor all day, bit of reality will do nicely fellas

{Ed042's Note - Obviously messing lad, let Raylor be the hero for a day, hes played like 5 times at LB in his whole career, was targeted all day long as he was against Arsenal, the lad done alright, by no means a permanent choice for LB but deserves credit, has done a job when it was needed and scored the winner against the mackems, which by the way you need to see again if you think it was a cross, 100% a shot mate no question, Mignolet made his mind up for him, never seen a keeper so badly positioned for a free kick}

The eve of the biggest game of the season. The one both sets of supporters look for first on the fixture list. IF I were Pardew, I would be giving the fans a bit of hope and encouragement i.e, The team look sharp in training, raring to go, back to full fitness and cant wait for the game etc..
What the F is Pards doing then, coming out and saying we are not as strong as we were last season, and we haven't brought strength in. Surely that knocks the teams confidence and spirits?
Your the manager. Its your team. You should of sorted the contracts out then. Signed better or more players. You knew Jose was going back before the USA tour. You knew we needed a striker since January. Why come out with such turd all the time? Cannot believe his comments before this match. No wonder theres a certain ammount of pro's dont like Pardew. Cannot understand the man. But, lets hope the likes of S.Taylor,Colo, Jonas, Tiote, Ameobi can get the other lads up for this and that Barton does not do something stupid and get sent off. All eyes will be on him and he needs to handle that. Come on the Toon Army
Psycho

Believable3 Unbelievable0

What he is doing is trying to take the pressure of you and onto us. He is clearly worried about things but at times like this so many teams pull together. For our sake I hope it isn't today

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe, but surely saying the team will need time to gel (like most managers say) would be better to take the pressure off us and state that you have home advantage, spent more etc. Not saying the team is worse than last year. That must get to the players? They guy has no man management skills. Mind, we'll still get 3 points today and he will probably take the credit for that

Anybody think that Dani Pacheco would be a good buy? He's been pretty good at all international youth levels for Spain, had a good run at Norwich in the Campionship last year. And rumours today are that he is surplus to requirements. I think he's be pretty cheap and also effective. He's 20, and fits the bill of young european players.

Isn't he another xisco?

Youngster Mohamed Salah, who rose to prominence during the U-20 World Cup, said on Friday that Newcastle United would table a bid to sign him from Arab Contractors on a season-long loan.

Salah earned plaudits after producing a string of impressive displays in the U-20 World Cup in Colombia, where Egypt suffered a last-16 exit after losing 2-1 to Argentina.

“Newcastle will soon make an official offer to sign me for one season. I don’t think Contractors will refuse to let me play in the English Premier League, he told Ahram Online.
