We will have a main team for premier league and a second team for europa, atleast now Pardew will be forced to work with forgotten men like Ranger and Xisco or will he overburden Ba and Cisse, we are simply wasting good money on them . . . iToon

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Pardew has said Ranger will not play in the first team while he is manager .

Team for villa match shud be; Krul
Simpson colo staylor santon
Cabaye tiote marveaux
Ben arfa cisse ba

I reckon 442 formation is not working for us and should stick to 433 which worked well last season and marveaux looks quality and should get more starts in the league.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree I think at home against the poorer teams we should play 4-3-3. For me Marvaux is quality.

Lads im a Sunderland fan and can't understand the moaning...you have a good team already and haven't lost any major players...this is the same team who got you right up the top end last season ...

Believable3 Unbelievable2

2/3 quality players that is what we want when the injuries kick in which they have already started.

Agree2 Disagree0

Its great being a fan of either NUFC or SAFC at the moment both got good teams first 11 especially and i agree we could both do with bigger squads but we have nothing to winge about we will both have at least a decent season to really good one.

Really think we can both finish top 6-10th with NUFC an outside chance at higher. Would be happy with that far too many southern clubs in the prem at the moment we need northern clubs doing well, hope Leeds sheff wed etc get promoted and cockney teams relegated.

looking forward to the derby should be competative.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is all the teams around us have added players.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm slowly coming round to the positive way of thinking - sure we have a million more games this season than last but Perch and Vuckic I reckon could do a job in carling/EL games.

Agree3 Disagree2

Agree with the above comment. Our number one aim should be european football again next year to ensure we can maintain and attract great players. Our first 11, injuries permitting, is good enough to achieve this. The cups and Europa give us a great chance to find out what Vukic, Tavernier, Ferguson, younger Ameobi, Campbell etc have in their locker.

sick of hearing people that we showed a lack of ambition, we couldnt get any of our targets and so didnt resort to panic buying. What do people want us to do, miss out on de jong/remy so sign steven fletcher for 15mil just to appease the fans? Obviously everybody would have liked us to bring in a few more players but at what cost? a stop gap player who we didnt really want and is going to cost us millions?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

The Debuchy signing would have helped along with Douglas and cost 12m and we would be up for it ..As it is we will suffer in the period between now and January because of lack of cover and until that happens believers like you will only see through rosey glasses.

Agree4 Disagree1

Seen chronicle poll today 90% fans unhappy with summer transfer (in)activity. To move on we needed to stengthen. Rememeber AP said at the end of last season, "its obvious we need to stregthen at the back". So what happened there? Also Amadonki as 3rd striker. He was an amobile plank 5 years ago and now he's the wrong side of 30. I think my mother's more mobile than him and she's probably got more football ability. We needed a pacy ch, a fullback and another striker.

Agree3 Disagree0

If u cant see how the club missed a trick this window then u need to give your head a shake. Cant wait to hear all positive people moan and carry on when we get injurys and start slipping back down table and out of cups.

Agree1 Disagree0

What im saying is we didnt sign anyone, we cant do anything about that now so why doesnt everybody just stop moaning and support the team

Agree0 Disagree0

A reply to the first post, oneill did not panic buy with fletcher,he was top of his list and was the main man he wanted, and to be fair is looking good.tk73

So what happens if ba and cisse go to ACON now?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We'll probably pick up a striker in January a lá Cisse earlier this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, i suppose ameobi up front, vuckic behind and campbell on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

4-5-1 with super Shola obviously and Campbell as an impact sub. Marveaux is a decent second striker too.

Won't happen anyway so chill.

I personally really hope we start playing Marveux especially at home as we can't just rely on Ben Arfa. We need more creation on out team.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Agree i think we have four creative players in Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Marveaux and Amafiltano and I would love to see atleast three of them start against Villa.
Like this:
Krul
Simmo Tayls Colo Santon
Amafiltano Anita Cabaye
Ben Arfa Ba Marveaux

Agree1 Disagree2

Cisse will start

Agree2 Disagree0

Cisse has been awful since pre season and 4-4-2 doesn't work and we need more creativity in the team I'm sick of seeing Ba in our half just trying to get on the ball because everyone but Ben Arfa passes sidways or backwards.

When Colo and Krul signed their new contracts they BOTH stated the ambition and vision of the owners excited them!! WHAT NOW? What message did our top players get from the window? All summer Pardew has banged on about quality signings to take us forward. De Jong,Douglas and Debuccy. Did they have no other targets if they didnt come off?. Most worrying thing now is if our top players start asking questions and wanting the move to the next level. HBA,Cabaye,Krul,Tiote,Cisse,Ba,Colo, could all be targeted by top 6 clubs and may want to go where ambition is evident. Top 10 this season? If we are lucky with injuries again. AND no i dont want to go back to the Shepherd days and almost break the club,i just want this Fat B*****d to show a little ambition!!!!!!!!!

I said a few weeks ago that all we would get is someone like Kenwyn Jones from stoke, well I should imagine Pards is looking at the out of contracts players and wondering who he can get on a free(we have done it before) If M Owen hadnt have been at the Toon before he would be here by the end of the week. but some reject will be along soon

Ashley has no ambition for the toon and Pardew is a puppet for saying he is happy with the transfer dealings. Never have we had a better chance to push on and compete with the top 6 on an even plain. I can only see this going on until Ashley decides to sell up. £14 million was the budget and we spent 3(NET). It's going be a tough winter period unless we manage to stay injury free.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Im a sunderland supporter and even i feel s**t for the mags supporters, ashley has no love for your club,he just wants to make big profits and pardew is his cockney puppet,he more or less says to pardew if you dont like how i run the club ,heres ur p45.tk73

Sooo, picture this... Ba gets injured, cisse and 17year old campbell is our only option, then colo gets injured and williamson is our only option or simpson gets injured and Tavernier is our only option. how the hell are we going to fight on 4 fronts this season, best and lovenkrands wernt the best however they cud always pop up with a couple of goals, letting 2 senior strikers go and not replacing them when we could have an extra 15+ games this season doesnt make sense, if you dont go forward in football you go backwards. Im sick of Pardew saying we kept hold of our best players and we still have the january window!!! By January we could be finished in all competitions. 3mil net spend for Newcastle United is bloody ridiculous when southampton spend 12m on 1 player. I will be voicing my opinions on sunday for a full 90mins

CORRECT ME if i,m wrong here as a kid standing in the old score board end every saturday afternoon i was brought up to back my team no matter what which is what i do even if i dont like whats happening...2 games in 1 win 1 defeat and through to group stages of europe with not a bad group that should see us progress.......there are a lot of teams worse than us......we new who we wanted in de jong, debuchy, anita, douglas but de jong did not want to come we have anita debuchy wanted to come and tbh honest was not keen on douglas...with the exception of debuchy who we should of signed but i,m pretty sure the price was agreed until lille moved the goal posts...we need to get behindour team and see where e are in january as if we are doing bad then we need to twist if we doing good we,ll go from there......k

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Thing is ,it's not what we have done so far but what we could of achieved with a little strengthening ,this is our best shot in years blown to dust if we get anymore injuries.

01 Sep 2012 08:55:17
BEAD NEWS we never bought anyone yesterday at all.....GOOD NEWS no top players where sold as every SAFC predicted...replaced guthrie with anita which is a good thing and technically mervaux is like a new signing due to injurys last season....need to keep every one fit now and on top form until january and see where we are......k

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Agree ,but it's keeping them fit ,tall order without the extra 15 games we have.

01 Sep 2012 08:54:06
We all know we needed a few more defenders and maybe a forward but I'm just glad know one left. Arsenal and Liverpool didn't strengthen either and we did some of our business early. No one left and no panic buys so its not all bad. Let's get behind our team now and push on

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2012 08:45:29
Well I do hope everyone will stop labelling us as a selling club now! The only player we've sold who has made a bit of a difference has been AC yet everyone still said we are a selling club, even though he is worth nowhere near that amount, so I reckon that was a good deal. We are now stable and have kept our best players so have some faith lads!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

If Tiote wasn't injured I think he would of gone sadly.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2012 08:37:06
I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't bring more players in, but many are compaining that we bought no one in. That's nt true, we brought in amalfitano and Anita for teenier squad, and then good and bigirimana for the reserves squad, and they will be pushing the first eleven in the near future. Then our youngsters from last year are one year older and more experienced, so will be nearer the starting eleven, and we have managed to keep all our players. I personally think we will see several new faces in January.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I think we see more than 3 or more faces in january, a bit like everton in the transfer market, they bought jelavic and gibson and pienaar on loan in january and they have really tight transfer budgets

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2012 08:33:51
Looks like all the hard work of last season could become undone. Really can't see this squad reaching the dizzy heights of 5th this year. Such a lack of ambition to build on what we have achieved. Does Big Mike not realise that by trying to be cheap in transfer dealings (e.g. hard-balling on trying to save a bit on players like Debuchy), he could have just cost himself money by not finishing higher up the league/euro qualification.

Not building on the squad and ambition this year could easily mean our big players leave next season to go to bigger clubs, so fearing their loss this transfer window should now perhaps be forgotten and maybe we should already start worrying about losing them next summer (again, undone work).

We were already in need of another FB and then R. Taylor gets injured for "months". Pardew before the deadline said this may cause him to sign someone, which implies he already knew he was thin in this position (what if the injury occurred after the deadline and no replacement could be brought in, surely you then already know you should get someone in before that can possibly occur?) - needless to say the deadline has passed and we signed nobody anyway.

I don't think this is Pards though, any manager would love to have a bigger squad, more depth, cash to spend. He's just working with what he has to work with, that is out of his control.

That said (and to end on a lighter note), if our players do stay fit over the season, we have a strong starting 11 (when Obertan isn't included in it), and could still achieve a decent league position.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2012 08:01:16
well par was right ! a week to remember, hope I wrong but this this team won't achieve much, needed striker cos ba and cisse don't function together .can't afford any injurious or tiote to be sent off , as defence well we all know that needd strengthen . nit enough ambition at all, other clubs have really strengthened , finish 8th,

Ok, so a little disapointed we din not get a more attack minded LB, and we really could have done with another striker. However, i would imagine that paying a few million for a bench warmer would be hard to stomach.
January will come around quickly, so lets see where we are then. I understand the negativity, but at the end of the day we have the same team that finished 5th.

Positives: Ben Arfa, Cisse, Anita all start a full season. Vukic, Tav, Bigi, Sammy, all look as though they may break into the first 11 in the near future. The players that were signed last season all have more experience of the league, and we have a very settled side.

The teams that have gone out and bought loads of players will need time to settle, so perhaps we will have a few points on them by that point.

Anyway, a good win on Sunday will cheer everyone up.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I don't think we were going to sign anyone. It's just a joke for Ashley and pardew COL etc. how much have we spent to move forward. We will struggle if we get few players going to Africa nations cup. All those players we were linked with. So ridiculous. I think we would be bottom of the table of what have spent and what we have taken in on players. Shame on use who back the Ashley Crewe

when we get injuries, and fail to build on last years early season form, how many will go in winter as there price will fall, when they want to go and we ask for too much. look at carroll, 35 million to 1.5 million, which is good business by lfc as if he goes for 17 million end of season, they will of saved 20 million in wages, the reason no one bought our players is they know we will sell for half value come winter, as team will be flat after the slump, any 1st 11 injuries will show us that we had a fluke last year with 1 injury all season, If we get 8 we are dead, plus the afrikan nations means 5 gone. oh dear

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Where do you get 5 from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone please help me , why have we done the least amount of business ? All new where we needed players etc , we talk up these players , but never get them over the line ! Had since July 1st ? Why why why ? It's **locks .

Agree0 Disagree1

Where do you get five for the african nations? I make it a maximum of two, with either Ba and Cisse or Tiote going.

Either way, if any team has 8 of their first teamers injured, that's just ridiculous bad luck.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where toon mate supports us through the good and bad....not that i,m saying its bad 3rd game into season on sunday,in the group stages of europe and taylor out injured for months....could understand if we had no strikers and where bottom 3 in the league but he league,s just started...its the same team as last season that nearly got 4th....we played well against chelsea and 2nd half we held our own....SO BACK THE TEAM YOU LOVE AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT or jog on and support them up the road.....k

Agree0 Disagree0

You did have a fluke last year, enjoy the season it will not be like last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

5 gone ?? We will lose 2 at the most !!

Agree0 Disagree0

I am to upset due to our lack of ambition but your logic and maths don't add up. The most we can lose to the ACON is 1 or 2 max. Last season was no fluke, you don't finish 5th by way of fluke or luck. IT was hard work and good management. This has all been undone by Cashley sitting with hands in pockets. Players will maybe be disallusioned by the smoke and mirrors we have had all summer, which may be a worry come the January window, I am sure they thought we could push on with a few additions. Colo said as much.

Agree2 Disagree0

How many times has it got to be said ,we won't lose 5 to the Acon it will either be CISSE and BA OR Tiote not all 3 as they play each others national teams to qualify for acon.Given that Ivory Coast are the stronger team it will probably be Tiote who goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2012 00:42:41

Though I am massively disappointed at missing our best opportunity in years to build on a great team, I do have to laugh at the state of affairs at Liverpool. You should have a read on their pages.

If they had the guts to swallow selling Carroll back to us, they might have had the money to buy Dempsey or Sturridge! Instead, West ham will probably finish above them too!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2012 00:23:51
One of the reasons we did so well last year is we showed some ambition and brought in decent players in both windows. This transfer window is gonna be a step back for us cos other teams have spent well and taken two steps forward. I love Newcastle United and support them from a country on the other side of the world, i hope to one day get to see a game live. Now everyone will be looking at the next transfer window and talking of which players will be coming in only to be dissapointed by penny pinching yet again! Im not saying waste money on over rated players who would cost the earth but missing out on decent players by a few bob is just stupid. Just a bit dissapointed at the lack of ambition in moving this squad on. I hope those people who think this window has been ok still think the same when we finish mid table due to small squad who are run down from playing extra games.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Other teams spent well.?? qpr 13 players......chelsea 80 million safc 14 for fletcher and saha, cuellar jihnson aint a bad player tbh but u need to stop the lad partying and sort his bad attitude out...theres a lot of worse teams than us now support the team u love.....k

When is Sammy back fit again? He will be our 3rd choice striker I think, along with Shola and Campbell occasionally if there are injuries.

If Cisse of Ba take a knock expect Cabaye and Ben Arfa to be playing in a more forward role too.

As for CB cover we look to be relying on Perch and Williamson again. And lets just hope that Simpson or Santon stay fit.

We probably have a top 4 starting 11, but a bottom 4 overall squad.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Bottom 4 a wee bit much, but yes - it doesn't match the quality in our starting 11.

Back up full backs are Ferguson and tavener, don't forget Curtis Good aswell, hopefully see him in a cup match or something.

01 Sep 2012 00:06:38
We needed a new striker, RB and CB, but lets be honest, the younger players we have are really starting to look good! We have a very strong first team that will do great in the League, because the small squad we do have, I can see Pards not wanting to go fa in the FA cup or league cup to concentrate on Europe and the league, we have enough talent to finish 5th again, aslong as the players pull the heards out of their arses and play like they did last season!

Guys, no matter what you say about our club, Ashley did get us into Europe and a 5th spot last season, although I hate him, he did good, and I think we should just ride out this season and see how it goes, Have faith in Pards and Greahmme Carr's young tallent!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

That's the worst thing about it, Graham probably put 3-5 fantastic targets in front of him, but MA and DL can't hand over the extra 1-2 million (on top of the offer) that it would take to sign them! Ridiculous, Carr busted his backside to get us quality players and nothing comes of it.

Makes you wonder why we bother scouting really ,Carr must be bemused by the whole situation.

Talking up a transfer for Tiote Cabaye or Cisse did not work and only if one of them was sold would we buy any new players..The surplus cash possibly 60m over the last 2 seasons and of cours the 70% increas from TV will fit nicely in Ashley's pocket..This man does not give a Flying F....ck about this club it is just another money maker.

He did very well to get Carr on long term and put the club in very stable position, but I agree that it won't take us to the top because he just won't invest enough.

Agree1 Disagree0

What makes you think you would of made it to the top anyway, you team is worse this year and the top players you think you have will not perform this season, it wont be so hard if all you sgb come down to planet earth and realise you have never or will never be a top team, enjoy the season it will be hard sgb

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I hope you're wrong.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree I think our top players wanted to stay because they thought we could push on from last season. The club is showing no ambition which will annoy players like Cabye, Tiote and Ben Arfa. They won't hang around next season if we finish mid table.
