Why don't the Everton fans accept that they are now among the also-rans in the premier league like we are? Trevor the Donkey says that we " have finished above Everton ONCE in the last 22 years". So obviously he has forgot 1993/4, 1994/5, 1995/6, 1996/7, 1997/8, 1998/9, 1999/2000, 2000/01, 2001/02, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2005/06, 2011/12, Well to me that is 13 times PLUS we spent a season outside
the top flight and were not in it the first season. So please Trevor, don't big Everton up as a massive club and accept, as we do, that you are in the second phase of the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Everton are a bigger club than us at the moment, because of our recent downfalls etc. but at the time SBR was right when he said Newcastle are a bigger club than Everton and spurs.

Everton have a very good chance of spreading their reputation across the world as they look like strong contenders for CL.

We should be using Everton as a blueprint for us under Ashley. Running on a shoestring budget, ok maybe kenright cares runs Everton a bit more like a proper football club rather than Ashley, but still sells their best player all the time. And also stability in a manager, we had a massive opportunity to get Martinez in the summer and we missed it but Everton took advantage and they look a top outfit. But still the better Martinez does, the more likely a top club like a barca or spurs will come in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Faircomment - fair enough, and quite correct, I genuinely, but not conveniently, unwittingly missed what was our worst period in our history. Shame on me. But where are your 9 league titles, 5 FA cups, European cup winners cup? Success defines a club's history and heritage. Not stadium capacity and owners

At the moment you are quite correct in stating that revenue, turnover etc are pretty similar but that's where the comparisons end. You are a small club.

JToon - 'the better Martinez does the more likely a BIG club like Spurs come in for him?' There are only 3 bigger in England than Everton and Spurs are not one of them. I could make a case for Barca though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh, and feel free to keep referring to me as 'the donkey'. Obviously that isn't my real name but if it makes you feel better to throw abuse, please continue. Just highlights your narrow-mindedness and ignorance if you are unable to make a point without throwing in a jibe. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

JToon all the years of supporting the Toon & you come out with this clap trap
How big a club is seen by its rating on the top clubs in the world not because they happen to be playing better or worse.
That relates to revenue which gives the club standing Newcastle at the moment dropped from 18th to 25th since Ashley took control.
Where are Everton in the standings.

Make no mistake Everton and at least another 12 clubs in the premiership are way ahead of Newcastle United in terms of on field playing and it will stay like that and possibly get worse as long as Ashley is owner of Newcastle united

Agree0 Disagree0

Trevor just make you point Donkey is the name you came up with
Good Luck son hope Everton can make CL but doubt it

Agree0 Disagree0

What point are you all trying to make,. big club little club medium sized club all a load of rubbish I support Newcastle because i'm a Geordie born in Benton first match in 1956 don't care if we play Rochdale or Liverpool I want to see us win. I don't care about big little etc i'm more interested in passion and pride. Move on you lot there is no point in arguing about it

Agree0 Disagree0

No one's arguing Des I'm merely stating the facts as I see them. Yes, we're both arguably '2nd tier' premier league clubs at this current juncture but in terms of history, heritage blah waffle etc we're in the upper echelons.

Whilst I may have overstated the fact Newcastle are a small club, they've had nowhere near the success of Everton throughout the course of history.

And Everton is a very poorly run club contrary to popular myth. Whilst Bill Kenwright is a 'fan' his failures are too many to mention.

But, if you will, 2 failed stadium moves and a £20m balance sheet in the black when he took over is now £50m in the red AFTER he's sold all tangible assets AND we still struggle to compete for players with the likes of your Stoke's and Norwich's and, dare I say, Newcastle.

Be careful what you wish for as we were extremely close to going into administration on Kenwright's watch, on two occasions. Everything is mortgaged to the hilt and we're paying off loans at £7m per season to some shady BVI lending company. An investment vehicle for one of our directors, Robert Earl.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol Trevor, Newcastle cannot compete with any club in the premier league in terms of transfers under ashley

Rolando Aarons has just signed a professional contract. Very pleased with this kid he looks like a top left winger

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed but what is the point of him signing if we don't give him a chance?

According to the papers there will be a "mass exodus" of players coming and going.

First of all we need a true footballing man as either DOF or chief executive/managing director. Lee Charnley could take this role but i'd prefer someone like Nicola Cortese-who can get in the right people for coaching etc. knows how to do business and can work with Graham Carr and Alan Pardew.

Secondly, we need some top class, modern coaches to help Pardew tactically as well as getting the best out of every player.

And finally, we need way more british players and possibly over 10 players depending on how many leave.

Players out

Debuchy - £10m (Wants to go to PSG)
Coloccini - £2m
Taylor - £3m
Gosling - FREE
Obertan - £1m
Jonas - £3m
Marveaux - £3m
Ben Arfa - £8m
Amalfitano - £1m
Newton - FREE
Ferguson - £1m
Shola Ameobi - FREE
Cisse - £6m
Luuk De Jong - End of loan
Loic Remy - End of loan
Total in: £38m

Thats 15 players out, so we need between 11-13 new players, along with bringing through youngsters like Bigirimana, Alnwick, Aarons, Kemen, Armstrong.
Also with half of the cabaye money (£10m) the other £10mil ashley will probably keep, could go towards transfer funds. so that could be up to £48m spent on transfers, without Ashley spending a penny of his own money. And possibly with TV money and profits there might be more to spend (wishful thinking)

Positions we need

2x right backs
2x centre backs
2x attacking midfielders
3x wingers
3x strikers
Players in

Sam Byram
Micah Richards
Steven Caulker
Jamaal Lascelles
Tom Ince
Ashley Young
Aaron Lennon
Ravel Morrison
Angel Correa
Chicharito
Abel Hernandez
Mauro Zarate
Danny Ings

Nearly all those players will be available in the summer, and with good negotiating, I think we could get most of them for around 40-50mil.

Imagine this for a team
--------------Krul--------------
Richards-Caulker-M'Biwa-Haidara
---------Sissoko-Tiote----------
Lennon-------Ravel-------Young
-----------Chicharito-----------

But I am probably all wrong and Ashley will grant 5mil to spend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too much logic in that post, the people that run our club don't seem to follow logic. I am still struggling to know why Pardew changed the style of football which got us 5th to the crap we have seen since, doesn't make sense or follows any logic. When we played Everton they played almost exactly how we played two years ago

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right jimmy, two years ago we played some great free flowing, attacking football. I don't know what's happened to that

Agree0 Disagree0

Jimmy and JToon, I can't disagree more. The season we finished 5th we were not very good and the football was awful, we were just lucky. Lucky Krul played a blinder every game instead just now and again as he does now, LUCKY with injuries, LUCKY Ba scored hatful's before Christmas and Cisse afterwards, LUCKY Leon Best got the odd goal when he played and most of all LUCKY the opposition did not take their chances because they had plenty of them. Plus we had a motivated Cabaye and a motivated Collo. Some of the football that season was dreadful, we got outplayed by lots of teams including QPR at SJP FFS but sneaked and I mean sneaked a 1-0 win which papered over the cracks that came to the fore the next season. This season has seen us play much more football and at least we are trying to keep possession, look at the recent Crystal Palace match; we won in the dying seconds but had almost complete control of the game and created loads of chances. Pards is at elast trying to get us playing good football but his problem is that he insists on playing Sissoko out wide when he should play central and that everything revolved around Cabaye so when he left he had no plan B except to use De Jong in that position which is appalling management. He should have said right HBA you play in the hole, work the defenders and be the creative genius you can be, instead of which he insists on playing him wide and expecting him to be an up and down wide player, even when he does track back he cannot tackle for toffee. I just cannot understand why Pards cannot see it, he tried it the season we finished 5th with Ba upfront and HBA in behind and it worked. Frustration is the only polite word I can think of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I would agree that the football has improved this year compared to when we finished 5th. You use luck as the reason we finished 5th, I would disagree or if that's true we are lucky this year that we got the points we have as our form post Christmas is relegation form. We were lucky against a lot of team this year! The football if anything has gone backwards, as for keeping the ball, that's fine if you do something with it

Jimmy 1976 you are right about Ings, I saw him for the U21's against Wales and he was superb. I don't care if he costs £5-7m it is worth it, we would not pay £7m for Jay Rodriguez and look what happened there.
I saw Will Hughes in the same U21 game and he was appalling mate, £10m? I would go nowhere near him. Chalobah was pants too that night as was Tom Ince but Karl Jenkinson had a good game and might be worth considering if Debuchy goes. The best player on the pitch that night though was Nathan Redmond, now he would be worth buying.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Danny Ings has been class all season. There are plenty of young talent in the championship and around the uk. We would be better off trying our own market than keep trying French or European markets all the time

According to a newspaper Pards will be allowed to reshape the squad as he wishes so does that mean more British players?
I know the Chron has said we are not interested but if he could stay fit Micah Richards would be a great signing but to be played at centre half.
Other than that I think we will need a new right back to replace Debuchy who will follow his mate across the channel. I'd love Remy to stay but he won't and I hope De Jong does not stay so we need at least 2 strikers. HBA will be off as will Marveaux and Gosling.
I'd like to see us sign some exciting young British talent along with a couple of exciting young foreign players and an experienced head to bring it all together:

My choices would be made from:
RAVEL MORRISON- not a Big Sam player
SAIDO BEARHINO- Beaten up by his team mates allegedly
WILL ZAHA- Moyes does not want him
STEVEN CAULKER - He will be off when Cardiff go down
MICAH RICHARDS - Not wanted at City
NICK POWELL - Moyes will not use him
MICHAEL CARRICK- Will be part of the Manchester United cull but would be great sitting in front of the back four with his range of passing using the young legs around him like Gareth Barry does for Everton.
I would not be looking for a new left winger though but instead play Haidara in front of Dummet so you get good defensive cover but he has the skill and pace to play wide left, otherwise we should make a cheeky bid for Townsend, especially if Sherwood stays in charge.
As for strikers, I'm struggling here apart from Nick Powell but I wonder if Chiquarito would come to us as I think he will be part of the cull too?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Richards and Caulker would both be good buys but I don't think the rest are better or even as good as what we already have.

Armstrong should get to play the rest of the season as we are pretty much safe now should be able to play under no pressure. But am sure Pardew will continue with De Jong.

Cisse has proven he can score when he gets the service. It's our midfield or our tactics that's the problem. Have got no creativity and know one who can pass. Our midfield can't keep the ball so the defence doesn't stand a chance.

Our whole midfield needs to be replaced.

Defensive midfield needs to be able to pass more than needs to be able to make strong tackles, Tiote is the opposite. Positional play and possession not so much power. Look at Xavi, Alonso and Pirlo, to of the best centre mids around but neither are great in the tackle but bring so mush more to the team.

Grenier would be good as very similar style to Cabeye.

Not sure about Cabella as has been playing off the front man most of the season and a lot of players like that don't do well in the premier league unless they are the best around (Rooney, Aguero etc).

Sissoko should be like Yaya T but hasn't got the goals in him as doesn't get in the box enough.

If the midfield was better in possession then the wingers would come into play a lot more and have a lot more freedom.

Adam Armstrong scores again for England, When will eh get a decent chance in our 1st team instead of playing De Jong who is never going to score or Cisse who has no confidence or at least replace Strolla on the bench who is off in the summer. Any why is Gosling on the bench instead of Bigi?
Pardew has ruined Mbwia, he was bought as a centre half but been played mainly as a right or even left full back, and when he was in the team we kept clean sheets against Spurs and Chelsea and then as soon as Collo was fit he was dropped and we started conceding again. Collo wants away so I say again, we should be playing Mbwia and Williamson.
Tavernier seems to be having a ball at Rotherham so perhaps he will come through next season. I think Newton will be allowed to leave but Vukic may be given a final opportunity. if he can stay fit!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree spire, m'biwa and willo at centre back against man u.
If debuchy isn't fit then Santon can fill in at RB.

Elliot
Santon Williamson M'Biwa Haidara
Sissoko Tiote Anita
Ben Arfa Cisse Gouffran

Armstrong has to come on, he will give a bit of heart and fight

Agree0 Disagree0

Gouffram was disgraceful against Soton he just walked around or stood around, I don't mind people having a bad game but I hate lazyness. Your saying we should play the same (almost) team that couldn't give a toss last Saturday or against Everton why bother with them
