Nufc wont be signing anybody whilst Pardew is in America So lads have a well deserved 15 day break(WelshToon)

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Hink thats the most reliable post ye put on for a while mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Big assumption that Pardew would be involved in the process - apparently Erdinc has already agreed terms, so must have already spoken to Pardew. Just need his agent to foxtrot oscar... If something else starts moving, I'm sure Pardew will fly back between matches if necessary. Dom.

Agree0 Disagree2

It has nothing to do with pardew who you buy, MA tells him who he is getting end of. So signings will be made weather he is here or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think he would have much say in the transfer negotiationsand after all pardew is just a puppet and would have already have a list of targets

Agree0 Disagree0

Whether AP is mates with MA or not im sure he and the rest of his backroom staff have more say on who comes in than your actually giving credit for

I'm a Sunderland fan & read the posts in both sites. To be honest I don't see much difference in quality between the squads just very different approaches to building them. Granted, Ashley wouldn't be most fans cup of tea, but he's obviously a smart cookie and knows how to run a business. For mid-table clubs the risk of overpaying for new faces is as big as the risk of relegation & I genuinely hope the rivalry continues in the premier league and both approaches pay off in the long run. How anyone can knock Pardew yet is beyond me, but we had the same types griping about Steve Bruce when he first started. Good luck next season, look forward to the derbies with the usual trepidation, and long may it continue.....

at the moment we have the folowing krull Simpson Taylor Colochini Enrique Barton Tiote Carbaye Ben Arfa Marveaux and Denba Ba Subs Forster Williamson Kadar Vudic Gosling Jonas Best along with Harper Ferguson Tavernier Donaldson Ameobi X 2 Airey Miele Moyo Thats a 27 man squad which looks more than healthy to me and we have 3 weeks before Kick Off come lets get behind the Toon ready for another great season in the top 6

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I thought academy players don't need to be listed in the 25 man squad.

Agree4 Disagree0

Cant stay academy all their careers Some will move into the full squad this season And some look like they can play a bit Sammy, ferguson, airey all look like they might make a push so exciting times to be a nufc fan

Agree2 Disagree0

Even if we dont name accademy players we still have Guthrie Taylor Loven Xiscoetc who are not mentioned rightly so

Agree2 Disagree1

You missed out Michael Richardson

Between October 1st 2009 and june 30th 2011, Premier League clubs spent in excess of £67million on agent fees. Within this period, i think we must have used carolls money to pay half of this.

Jose Salamon Rondon for 7m would be a great buy
Much better buy than Shane Long who would do f**k all if he came to Newcastle
Same price , i know who i would choose

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Rondon gonna cost a lot more than 7m more like 13 or 14

Agree0 Disagree2

Personally i reckon long could do good business in the premiership He far and away the best striker in the championship and gets goals

Agree6 Disagree1

Doenst matter if he costs more, we still have most of carroll money left

i find it unbelievable reading some of the post on here nolan was poor could hardly get from one box to the other we have replaced him with someone better who hasn't even played in england yet, carroll the judas. where would ye have been without these 2 players most probably getting ready for a season in championship. fickle fans no wonder these 2 lads moved on

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Everyone understands how much they done for us but part of being a successful club means replacing players with hopefully better ones.

So in tonights Chronicle, Pardew is suggesting his squads too small. Didn't he say that when he took over then proceeded to get rid of two players only to bring in a crocked Ireland and Kuqui in as emergency? Considering our luck with injuries you've hardly bolstered the squad with numbers, though the signings do seem decent atm. Solution to your problem pards: sign some players Stop being Ashleys puppet and push for signings like Sturridge or Berbatov. Ba gets injured, and he most likely will, then we're screwed again.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Thats why if the youngsters are good enough he will promote them to the first squad and that is what its there for Still think we will sign some more players but just waiting for the right ones to be made available

Hopefully we will be able to score more free kicks now that we have Cabaye as last season we didn't make most of our free kicks I know Barton seemed alright when aiming them at Carroll but when he stepped up to have a shot I never felt confident he was going to score

So Gyan says he isn't leaving Sunderland and every Mackem says he definately ain't leaving now then Colocinni and Barton say they aren't leaving but Mackems still say they're leaving.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Yeh but we say gyan is leaving lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Its not a point of sunderland saying gyan is not leaving the truth is they dont have to sell the point of barton and collocini being sold is ashleys plan for the wage structure he needs to bring in if both would reduce there wages then neither would be sold.

Agree2 Disagree0

But Colocinni wouldn't be giving the armband if they wanted rid of him maybe they will sell him at the end of next season but not now.

If there is any truth to Barcelona wanting to sign Enrique, I think we should try and get a LB from them (Maxwell, Adriano) and also Jonathan Soriano who is an academy player in the B team and striker.

He has scored 54 goals in the last 2 seasons for the B team in a league that is probably on par with the Championship (maybe slightly lower quality). He could be a young potential goalscorer for us?

The toon are my number 1 team but after that I would say it is Barcelona, so if there was 1 team I'd like to see Enrique go to it would be the Blaugrana.

Wanted to address the opinion that we made a massive mistake in selling Nolan, mainly from people who dont support Newcastle or see the club play every week granted, but just wanted to give my take on it, see what people think...

For all the talk of who is more effective, I checked the stats out over the past two seasons to compare Kevin Nolan and Johan Cabaye... purposely because they were Nolans two best by far for us...

First of all, lets just disclude overall game, mobility, pass completion etc etc... simply end product related, since thats where people think we were stupid to sell Nolan...

So, including goals and assists over the past two seasons...

Nolan is directly responsible every 2.05 games... Cabaye... every 2.06

Absolutely nothing between them...

So it comes down to their game outside of end product...

The argument is that this is where Nolan is also be a big loss because of his leadership... fact is we are not one of these clubs with one leader, or no true leader... Coloccini is more than capable... Then you have Steven Taylor who bleeds black and white... Lastly you have Joey Barton who fair play has shown some loyalty and desire to play for us and do well... and have to agree with Pardew when he said although Nolan was a very good captain he couldnt see him being in the first team week in and week out over the next few years, so its very hard to be a leader when you dont play.....

The other argument is that it was off the pitch too that this was needed... and it is... but not by players, by management, by staff, and then players chipping in when neccesary... it was vital we had that when Hughton was in charge, as much as I liked the guy and there was dressing room harmony, it was because he was so soft spoken and passive that it was essential the likes of a Nolan or Barton took on that responsibility... but Pardew is a strong character, and love him or hate him, one thing everyone he has worked for or has worked under him has said is that he has presence, and very good man management skills...

Other argument if we stick to simply the Cabaye vs Nolan argument on leadership alone is this... Cabaye may well be one of those players that is similar to Beckham in a way, in that he is not the type to go shouting and instructing players, but rather to lead by example, to pull the strings and be a suttle but massive influence on games... I dont know for sure but from everything the Lille manager has said about him or has been written about his game, this is exactly the type of player he is, very good on the ball, technically sound, and player who likes to dictate play and get the best out of teammates... which is the sort of player I like to be honest, nothing worse than seeing someone shouting at others when hes having a mare himself... nice blend of both is best, which is what we have now... so thats the leadership argument put to bed...

Comes down then to engine, mobility, versatility, overall game... and look Nolan served us well and I think he will do extremely well in the Championship but lets be honest, anyone who watched Newcastle in the 2nd half of the season could clearly see that Nolan hadnt got the legs any more, would try his best, but it just wasnt in the tank... this is where I think its a no brainer between the two, Cabaye is a younger, fitter, box to box midfielder who has the versatility to play in a defensive or attacking role, including behind a striker, will get on the ball more and off the ball be able to chip in defensively without it affecting his ability to get up and support attacks too...

So overall, statistically theres nothing between them, but overall game and for the future, personally I think it was a very astute move and we have replaced Kevin with a better player... but let me know what you think anyway, cheers for the feedback as always lads

Time will tell and what with nolan dropping off once carroll left it could turn out to be a great bit of business

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok krtoon another good post i can see where ye coming from compairing age and one for the future but i cant even compare the french league to ours not in same class also cabaye was in a team that was the best in france so he was playing with better players in a poor league where as nolan was playing with a couple of good players ie taylor collocini barton carrol guiterez and tiote in a much stronger league. what im getting to is that if ye put nolan in that french team and cabaye in the newcastle team of last season nolans percentages would have been higher thats my opinion one gary rowell p.s as ye can most probably see from some of my posts i am a fan of kevin nolan as we could do with a leader like him on the pitch and i think he will be a big miss but only the season will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

Could kind of tell that you were a fan of him alright ha... didnt mention it in the post purposely just to see if this misconception about the standard of the french league would come up, but one of those season accounted for Nolans stats was the season in the Championship... Now although its hard to argue the Premiership is a harder league than the French Ligue 1, anybody who is of the opinion its the same standard as the Championship is kidding themselves, different class alltogether, French League is quickly becoming the third strongest league in Europe with Italy having such a fall off in recent years, Champions League and Europa reflect that with how well their sides do in the competitions year after year... and would be a matter of opinion I suppose but in mine I dont think Cabaye was playing with any better a standard around him than Nolan had in the likes of Tiote, Enrique, Taylor, Coloccini, Barton, Carroll... Anyway, agree to disagree I guess, cheers for the feedback as always though lad... and I think you re right in Sunderland not having a big leader in the team, Cattermole rallied the troops with getting stuck in but wouldnt be the sort of player to take a game by the scruff of the neck and control it, and I think giving John O Shea the armband may give him confidence, and help the defence somewhat, but think it may be a bad choice overall, hes not captain material

Ben Arfa and Ba will be expected to get double figures, need more goals from wingers, would defo sell jonas to sign nzogbia. Would like if we dont get Sturridge for us to move for Remy, reminds me of Henry.

Agree with Ashley, need to get rid of deadwood like Xisco, Smith and that before signing more players.

Watch out for breakthrough of Vuckic this season, hell of a talent.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Your dreaming, if you expect Ba and Arfa to get double figures next season.

Agree3 Disagree8

I think its what most people would expect. Caroll and Nolan both got into double figures with US, last season.

Agree3 Disagree0

Another stupid SMB.

Agree2 Disagree2

I think your the stupid one, if you think they are gonna get double figures, yeh Ba scored a few for WHU, but that does not mean he will for you, chances are with his suspect knee( failed 2 medicals with EPL teams) he will miss a lot of games, and Ben Arfa scored one, and then sadly got injured, so none of you know what he will be like next season only speculation and a lot of hope. By the way most of your fans DID NOT wasnt BA you all said he was S***, but now you have him, you all think he's gonna get you double figures, Dream On SGB

Agree1 Disagree2

Any fan in the country would expect their forwards to get into double figures for a season so not unrealistic at all

Agree0 Disagree1

Not newcastle's strikers though, Ba is possible if he stays fit

Agree1 Disagree1

If you check his stats for the last 4 seasons they read:
30 appearances
35 appearances
17 appearances only low because he fell out over his move to Struttgart falling through
20 appearances for Hoffenheim and another 12 appearances for West Ham on top of that so 32 all together.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ba (7 goals in 12 games) has a better pedigree for scoring in the prem than Gyan (10 goals in 31 games). Yet you lot seem to think he will score the goals to keep you up. Add to that Wickham, who didn't exactly break all records for scoring in the championship did he. I would be more worried about your strikers if i was you. Of the players left at the SOS Richardson was your next best with 4 goals......Ameobi, Best, and Lovenkrands all scored more, and they didn't exactly play every week. SMB.
Col

Agree3 Disagree0

Gyan was a sub for most of them games as it takes a while for foreign players to settle same as sess so dont think this french lots gonna hit the ground running

Agree0 Disagree3

Was BA not also settling? Contradiction in your words mate He got a good ratio of goals to games in a relegated side so he could score more in a better side really

I really don't get where 'fans' are coming from when being critical of the way NUFC are doing business this summer. Lets face facts, we are not in the champions league, we are in the 2nd season following promotion, and we are gradually working our way to being one of only a small number of clubs that are being run in a sustainable way.
Would these 'fans' prefer that we spend almost 100 million on players that are only slightly better than average. If you do, why not go and follow Liverpool. We are slowly putting together a very good side, and whilst there will always be room for improvement we are already in a better position than last year. The rubbish that is being spouted about the missing £35million is just annoying. The way some fans go on, it would appear that we need to spend every single penny now, whoever it is, we just need to spend it. Alright then, we could go and buy Adebeyor and pay his wages with the change.....good value? No.
