Can't understand why obertan is picked ahead of Mareux he looked lost when he came on against spurs. Anita looked quality though. Any thoughts?
Thought obertan looked a bit stronger than last season to be fair and mervaux spat the dummy and went home after not making team only for ameobi to injure himself in warm up and they could not find mervaux
I like Obertan. I think he gets a hard time from fans. He may not have the flare and skill of Ben Arfa but cant fault his work rate especially when he comes on to defend a lead. How quickly we all forget his role in that unbeaten run at the start of last season.
He seems to play a role given to him, and not the attacking role he likes, his speed is a blessing for helping out simpson in defence
That is such BS, plays a role given to him. He bottles it every time going forward, he has pace to burn and a trick yet every time he gets one on one with a defender he never has a go he bottles it as he is scared to lose possesion so he passes instead which often ends up with him losing it anyway and he THEN uses his pace to chase back to help out teh defenders. If you are right however that he is under instructions to do this because of the weaknesses of Simpson then get rid of Simpson (which we should do anyway).
I thought Obertan did ok, He came on and raced around and tried to hold the ball and run the clock down, His workrate was off the charts but to be fair he was not on the pitch for very long.
He could be a brilliant player he just needs to have the confidence to use his pace going forward and drive at defenders and take them on. He is so quick and strong he would roast most LB's and then he can attack teh box to shoot of lay it on for the Demba boys.

As much as I love Arsenal losing Song to Barca, it eventually popped into my mind that Arsenal may make an effort to sign Tiote as a replacement. Think about it, they must have a ridiculous amount of cash to spend after seeing RVP and Song go. I know we won't sell Tiote for less than, say, 20M - but Arsenal may actually be willing to spend those kind of money on him.
It's a worrying thought, for sure. Thoughts?
If Arsenal want Tiote then we want 10m plus Wallcott or 25m cash

Arsenal already have frimpong (Just need to get him fit and ready) and you know what Wenger is like with money on defensive minded players. Chelsea is realistic and only Chelsea.

why is everybody saying we need two more players in...? we've got a strong squad with the likes of marveux and taylor coming back from injury, we've got good quality reserves to fill in any gaps left with Vukic, Abeid, Campbell, Amafaltino, and SAmeobi and Colo to come back eventually from injury. all we need is a right back that can attack and defend and not get left in players dust like simpson does. concentrate on gettin Debuchy in and act like a good self sufficient club does and start bringing through our youngsters, especially this season when we'll be facing weaker opps in the Europa and League cups. howay the toon!
