"Squad is thin", "not enough quality", "scratching around for loans", "in real danger of second season syndrome". Also, "bit worried that they'll sell Tiote and Colocini". All quotes / paraphrases from Graham Courtney's piece on Talksport earlier.
Personally i think we're stronger than last season already and will definitely sign a striker (probably Erdinc when his agent is finally jettisoned). I'd be very surprised if we sold anyone of note too.
Anyone agree with Courtney?
Dom.
No mate, the dude doesn't have a clue
We havnt replaced carroll we will struggle with what weve got.whos going to score nolans 12 goals?if enrique leaves will we have any balance down the left?will our team spirit be good?will we have any at all?these new players will have to be as good as the hype.i was more confident last year but howay the lads
We do not need to 'replace' Nolan. Why would we want a slow ineffective midfielder to play as a striker (who let's face it scored tap in's created by others). Ben Arfa will play behind the front man. We do need another striker, but that is exactly what the club have come out and said. We are already stronger than we were this time last year, whoever said that is an idiot.
Come on 12 goals ineffective what planet you from nolan was slow but gave 100% and always in oppositions face
Nolan only scored 2 after AC was sold and did nothing else but run around slowly giving away fouls. Oppo players used to run around him for fun, he was a liability and the reason Tiote got so many yellows covering for him and having to put in so many last ditch tackles and taking a card for the team. Cabaye wil be brilliant.
Courtney is a Mackemphile. He waxes lyrical about their signing old average players, players from relegated teams (if they were that good their teams would not have gone down) and a kid from Ipswich who scored a handful of goals. Courtney is a muppet. Ba will score plenty, Marveux will terrorise right backs and Ben Arfa will be so good he will probably be off next summer for £30m.
As for the comment about the left side, Jonas never created or scored enough and Enrique was making loads of mistakes towards the end of the season. That said I hope we keep both but don't get carried away with how effective they were for us last year.
As for incoming we do need another striker and hopefully it will be Sturridge, personally I d like to see Smith used as a battering ram up front in the Kevin Davies mold, and of course a left back whether Enrique goes or not after Fergie s injury.
Squad as it stands with fit available players:
Forster/Krul/Harper
Simpson/R Tayor
Collo/S Taylor/Williamson/Kadar
Enrique
Barton/Gosling
Cabaye/Tiote/Smith/Perch
Marveaux/Jonas
HBA/Vukic
Ba/Best/Shola/Lovenkrands
Not to mention up and coming youngsters such as Airey.
If we do well with injuries then I think we will finish in the top ten with a good shout at European football next year.
Stronger? Carroll is not replaced, lost Nolan topscorer, replaced with untested french players. Weaker this season and Enrique off soon, Colo and Jonas possibly going also, Barton off soon. not stronger just false hope
Colocinni has shrugged of talk of a move and how he can't wait to captain Newcastle next season so stop posting s**t.
So how do you explain the fact that yous got relegated ( were all your players crap then ? )
Most were crap Coloccini and Enrique weren't ready for the premiership aswell as making signings like Xisco and Gonzalez( bit harsh on him as he was injured).

Here lads I looked on the sunderland page coz there always on here and they really do think there a big club now have a look at some of the players they think there getting it's hilarious
Do you know the word irony?
Shock a makems str8 in, I'm pleased u care about the toon so much, I know we have our daydreamers that still think were a champions league club (it feels gr8 being one by the way but u wouldn't know) and were gana sign a player b4 the window shuts but u lot are taking it to far, did u watch that dispatches on channel 4 tonight it was very interesting haha
Youve got a good memory
Cracking comeback
I seen it and it said SAFC not transparent along with 14 other clubs about who owns it Apparent ownership in channel islands Thought ellis was american
And bruce mentioned a lot when it come to fiddling wasnt substantiated and i hope it turns out to be wrong but did look damning against the clubs involved and will almost certainly lead to an investigation in to corruption Robson looks totally screwed tho

i read this page everyday to look at the latest rumours doing the rounds and can't remember the last time any of the rumours came true no-body got any of our signings on here before they actually signed, the good thing about the club is no-body knows anything as there is no leeks no nothing club keeps everything quiet till the deals are done and that is the best way
Yeah you're right but everybody just throws names about in the hope of being right.
Yeah were just waiting for the frees coming up nobody wants
" the frees that nobody wants" okay then.
Ba couple of Premiership clubs in for him. Sunderland tapped him up.
Marveaux was close to signing for Liverpool until they altered the deal.
Abeid had a couple of offers from France.
What about larrson? wasnt he free? Being a free player doesnt make you a bad player does it?
Vaughan was free, Blackpools player of the year. Sunderland did not tap BA up, West Ham were having sour grapes coz they got relegated and made up bull as their owners are t*ssers

just thinking about the last time we went on holiday...me and wor lass went to egypt (sharm el shiekh ) in dec last year the toon was playing liverpool found a pub with the match on ( the tavern ) we got there full of scousers ..in breezes me and wor lass..with our toon tops on ..what did we do sat right in the middle of the scousers. match kicks off 1-0 ....2-0 am off me seat shouting me heed off ..liverpool score 2-1 ...ah said to the missus here we gan again ...on comes ranger....he runs them ragged we score again 3-1 am dancing all over the pub ...the scousers up and left ..never seen a pub empty so quick my god was i proud that day wor me toon top rest of me hols....anyway if you go to sharm ...go to the tavern its in naama bay beers cheap do good grub and the scousers are fickle as f*** ....hwtl
Not as fickle as the geordies in the games of the century. remember them sat in the anfield road end crying there eyes out every scouser laughing there tits off as the geordies won eff all again
Mackem or scouser? just out of interest...
Daint knar if hes a scouser or a mackem m8 could be a mouser hwtl
{Ed042's Note - Haha theres a new one, mouser, I like it!}

Mike Ashley has said we have too sell before we buy? Doesn't sound too bad if that means he is selling the club, and then we are buying.
Like it
18 Jul 2011 19:06:40
I know he's not coming to us n to be honest dont really want him after how he left the club but il find it so amusing when dave whelan looses nzog on a free next season he's almost as greedy as the fat one
Im a smb and couldn't agree more lad plus until ashley became a whistle blower whelan was his best mate do ye think whelan taught ashley or the other way both greedy men
Lol Glad we can agree on something
Any one who knows business ethics will know that what MA did to whelan was morally right and correct aswell as being responsible for his own business Same happened to freddie laker years ago and it skinted him so now people whistleblow to protect their own interests and thats right
So a mackem would use the phrase I'm a SMB no like sorry. You geordie's have nothing better to do than pretend to be mackems now
Some real irony in that last post have you checked our rumours page.

freddy sheppard to become UK advisor to the Qatari 2022 world cup preparations
Must be money involved as his another who got into football for money he has a home in gibraltar and when newcastle beat barcelona he was sat in bar with all the lads from the navy and never watched 10mins of game stood and played slot machine all night
18 Jul 2011 18:03:19
I really want us to go for a european striker such as Barrios, Doumbia or Remy someone with a reputation and it would also show we are ready to aim for europe
Barrios a player that would cost around £25 million and all the big clubs looking at him and Dortmund are a bigger club than us so he might want to stay.
All too expensive for us Shame but its true
18 Jul 2011 14:42:14
Tbh if Newcastle can sort the Enrique contract situation out hopefully signs a new deal then get a new striker i think we will have a very good team.
I would like the striker to be Erding but the deal is only being prevented cause his agent wants a bonus fee and Newcastle aren't willing to pay it but the fee was agreed personal terms agreed so four things could happen 1) Newcastle just pay the bonus 2) Erding gets a new agent but it's highly unlikely 3) or his agent blocks the move and he stays at PSG 4) or another club comes in for him that will pay his agent.
Also I think Abeid will be involved in the first team more than people first expected.
I fully expected to see him in the first, lens have a very good youth system and bring through very talented, technical type players. they could win ligue 1 with their youth team.
I wouldn't say they could win Ligue 1 with there youth team but they would be around the top of the table if they didn't sell/lose their best youngsters.
18 Jul 2011 13:54:44
There will be no huge signings coming in to the toon soon. Waiting to get the Enrique situation sorted out first as funds are allocated for his new contract, etc. If he's offered £50,000 a week and a 5 year deal, that's £13,000,000 on wages.
Still think we need the following:
Left back to replace Jose
Commanding centre half to challenge Collo, Williamson and Taylor
Right Winger with speed - allow Barton to challenge for a centre mid berth
Pacey Striker.
The above won't be pruchased until a few are moved on like Enrique, Smith, Guthrie, Best (a bit hard on him after the way he was adapting to the league).
I don't expect a right sided midfielder to come in Barton is great there due to his good crossing and the fact he gives Simpson so much help defensively.
If we can keep barton and what with us having ben arfa and some good young players who can also play that position we wont be signing any right sided midfielders. Expect a striker of some level(not known what level tho) and a defender
Keep Best and get rid of Shola LovenKrans and Ranger
18 Jul 2011 12:47:33
NUFC trying to bring a striker in but if efforts come to nothing then gonna rely on current players and youth team Ben arfa mentioned as a free roaming player to assist BA and remember shola was given a new contract so he will be playing a part
Shola wasn't giving a new contract and there will be atleast one new striker by the end of the window.
Just been reading NUFC blog and his personal profile says he signed a new contract in december 2010 That where i got that info from Plus the other info i got from of all places a Friend who works in hospitallity in newcastle city centre who caters for the club for private functions and said he was told this bya secretary within the club Just an admin worker but these are the people who put through the paperwork She also said that no offers were currently in the offing for any player
Shola gave an interview in paper the other day talking about the fact he is worried cause his contract runs out I think it's at the end of next season.
18 Jul 2011 10:25:52
Well Mike Ashley has spent 2 Million on Darren Clarke....His bonus for winning the Open.Well done Dazza.
18 Jul 2011 01:07:03
i think with nolan gone we should try and get aquiliani on a loan from liverpool as i still see high hope for him in the prem
So you want us not to buy a striker and instead pay over 12 mil for a midfielder that failed miserably in his 2 months in the premier league. great buisness sense right there.
" I think we should get Aquilani on loan " think you need to read that again and apologise.
Dont apologise just promise not to post that rubbish anymore Its funny cos someone on the SAFC site has said pretty much the same too But we really dont want the crock
18 Jul 2011 00:34:29
sell harper.
sell perch and use simpson as back up and bring in a good right back like kyle walker, corluka, bosingwa.
if enrique goes to arsenal make sure k gibbs in the deal and if to liverpool make sure aurelio is in there.
sell williamson and bring in some one like hangland, johny evans, bassong.
sell smith.
sell lovekrands or best.
bring in a good young talent such Jos Salom n Rond n, danny welbeck, Marco Reus or Andre Ayew. somewhere down them lines.
No just no.
Leeds can't afford smith unless you pay a serious percentage of his wages for the remaining year but we'd still like him back lol
Smith will have to accept he needs to take a pay cut to move to leeds and if he serious about moving then he should prove it We wont be paying wages for players at other clubs
