Joey Barton has just went into the celebrity big brother house Looks like we've got even fewer players for the derby

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Haha can't believe someone actually disagreed with this post

Agree3 Disagree2

Total rubbish

Agree1 Disagree2

Just heard joey bartons just got leave from big brother house to go on X factor tomorrow night... his mentor is little joe mcelderry...geordie tom

Agree2 Disagree0

Think it was a joke mate

to the celtic and rangers fans that spouted off about them being in the top six of our lge if they were aloud in, to be honest lads ave just watched your europa candidates hearts play 2nite...............ya on about newcastle being crap its bulls**t lads that lge is a joke so dont bother trying to tell us how good yous are when playing lesser teams than hearts in that lge f**king blyth spartans could give them a game.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Was thinking the same watching that Joke. We should see if they can move the border further south, we would be champions every year.

Agree4 Disagree1

Champions every year....then they'd call us glory hunter's just like all the none Glasgow, Celtic and Rangers fans....just like Man utd and Liverpool.. north of the border

18 Aug 2011 20:07:24
Ed, do you know if our two french trialists are any good? I heard they both scored against Gateshead yesterday

{Ed042's Note - Know more on Situ than Remy, Situ was looking like a move to Man Utd at one stage, never materialized though, is a monster of a bloke for his age, captain for France at all youth levels and is rated in France.. Remy I dont know much about other than he was on loan from Lens academy last season so has gotten some 1st team experience and is a left sided central defender}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

2 kids is that it?were doomed

Agree2 Disagree1

Probably the new LB.

Agree2 Disagree0

Situ looks good and strong and a great ball winner. young or not he looks good Dont fob off youth. it got man utd where they are now

Agree4 Disagree1

Yeah, but they had a full and strong first team squad as well.

Agree2 Disagree0

We need to sign both of them they are really good and good back up for us.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 19:45:17
I am getting sick of looking on line every day just to read we are no closer to signing anyone.

M.A. Just sign a LB and a Striker and the fans will likely leave you be (for a while), it's that easy...... TWO signings and most of us would be pleased (this is only true if they are good players however, not Wayne Bridge or some 18 year old kid).

Believable3 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2011 19:40:14
anyone else think we might get beat on saturday :/

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Yeah about 60 million

Agree5 Disagree3

No. its called optimism and as a fan you need to have some or your not a true fan your just a eternal pessemist

Agree2 Disagree3

Too f**king true no better time for the scum to beat us,but still live in hope, it wont be lack of effort it would be the two f**king mill stones that is dragging us down a lack of ash putting his hand in his pocket ,the money weve took in this year is a joke, and for you ashley fans you make me sick to let us get to this state without getting a forward and left back sorted before now is a disgrace(and am not talking about getting the club into debt before you start)just get someone in place before you sell is that asking to much ie:torres was not allowed to leave until carroll was in, in short weve got numptys in the board.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed042's Note - Couple of facts for the prematurely cocky mackems. Last 13 home games for Sunderland v Newcastle, 1 win, 5 draws, 7 losses. Last clean sheet against Newcastle home or away, 12 years ago. Off all them years how many times I have heard the mackems were going to beat us off the park, every single year. Itll be a tight game no doubt, but the level of cockyness is laughable to be honest}

Agree4 Disagree3

Ed that reply really made my day thank you

Agree2 Disagree3

History does not always repeat itself.

Agree4 Disagree1

To the second comment i wasnt saying we are going to get beat im just saying our performance against arsenal was a joke and the mackems actually looked quiet good so im a bit so ive got a right to be a bit worried so just shut the f**k up

Agree1 Disagree2

So how come shola keeps scoring past yous

Agree2 Disagree1

But history can give confidence and optimism to the players

Agree1 Disagree0

History doe srepeat itself your right. Just look at the EDs stats and you will see that Come on saturday

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 19:28:35
Just remember, when newcastle get beat at the weekend and you's use the excuse we had a poor squad...no lb etc
Your just in the position we have been for last 10/15 years, so go ahead and contradict yourselves.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Yea but difference is we know were gonna get beat Even last season yous were banging on about 6 easy points and how many did yous get? 1 poxy pointSMB

Agree2 Disagree1

The main reason you are so easy to wind up at the moment is that you are so worried about where you will end up, whereas Sunderland fans are optimistic about where we will finish. The end of the season will tell. Goodbye.

Agree2 Disagree2

"yea but difference is we know were gonna get beat" speak for yourself.. an you call your self a fan..unbelievable

Agree2 Disagree1

Sunderland need to be optimistic Ooooo europe.....never going to happen for either ov us for a very long time Try champions league, just glad we have at least been there and done it,how does it feel smb? Knowing we have and you never will? Jealousy is a disease you should see a doctor smb stroll on saturday. Hwtl

Agree1 Disagree1

At least we are profitible club unlike sunderland. yeah the owner might keep it but he wants success. Last season he said if newcastle finnish in the top ten he will give 500k bonus to players and staff. before arsenal game on espn pardew told the fans that he might be hard but wants success

Agree0 Disagree0

That one 'poxy point' ended up finishing above you.

Agree1 Disagree0

And? Fair enough if yous beat us to a european spot but it wasn't so a couldn't give a f##k to be honest 5-1 will go down in history, not the fact yous got 1 more point than us to finish in a pointless league position

wondering if my internet is broke as when i put a post up it never seems to get on had some good banter about tiote sell on clause and not posted mags ed must becoming a bit disillusioned as the other fans on here lads

{Ed042's Note - Wasnt me mate sorry, havnt seen anything about Tiote sell on clause.. as for disillusioned, not a chance son ha my comments on the page should tell you that, think were fine, think well be even better come the 31st, and as for Saturday, well that just goes without saying}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice reply ed think ye will be disapointed after saturday but think ye will def get 2 or 3 players in as far as i understand 2 of these will be the 2 french kids who played in friendly against gatesheed. what i have read about tiote is the chairman of twente hoping ye sell tiote as they have a big sell on clause in the deal with rumour being it could be as big as 50% but i think if true its usually 25% have you heard this ed as its in the local twente paper im told

{Ed042's Note - Havnt heard that but is fairly common practice in other European Leagues because they are generally selling clubs to the likes of England, Italy and Spain. Theres no way its 50% though.. as for the signings think the LB and striker we all want will be in by 31st plus one if not both of the french lads, dont know a whole lot about Remy tbh but Situ I would be really happy with, is highly rated and has been captain at all age groups hes played at international level}

Agree0 Disagree1

What international level is he playing in now? U18/19/20?

{Ed042's Note - U19}

Just talked to Alan pardew at training ground, saw modibo maiga going in taxi , was later confirmed by Alan . He was unsure over pieters and after asked about beating Sunderland hr said " I bloody hope so"

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Modibo maiga went to wrong place lads he said he wanted to play for a side in the north east who are doing well and decided to have a look at gatesheed

Agree6 Disagree1

It was the Angel of the North again. I think she is another Sunderland agent.

Just read that Pablo Aimar is available for around 3mil (his wages might be a bit high thou) also Brian Ruiz FC Twente (played with Tiote) around 8mil. What about Van Arnholt as a young left back. Chelski seem to have loads of them may not cost more than 2 or 3m and wages won't be to high. If we could get these three in and keep the rest of our players and just off load Ranger and Smith I would be fairly happy with our squad til January and see where we are. (Legin)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Too old and no sell on so you guessed it NO WAY

Agree1 Disagree0

Van arnholt signed for a german side. same one as the young english lad

18 Aug 2011 16:01:25
we obviously wont sign anyone before saturday, its far too late. i dont no why pardew has to come out every couple of weeks and state that new signings are iminent only for nothing to materialise. I wont belive anything he says until I see a player has signed on sky sports news

Believable4 Unbelievable0

In the words of Pardew - A striker and a LB are 100%

He also said the £35 million from Carroll would be reinvested. People lie.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 15:31:11
Tonight's Chronicle quotes Pardew indicating Ryan Taylor will start against the mackems.

No transfer conclusion today or tomorrow then

Right I'm going to say this guys name but I aint gonna say we should or shouldnt get him, I just want to hear peoples thoughts on him comin to us?

Jimmy Bullard?

I'm sitting on the fence myself but want to hear fellow fans thoughts?

Geo

Believable0 Unbelievable1

No. Too slow, and injury prone. He has also just signed for Ipswich.

Agree2 Disagree0

Geo - whatever side of the fence you're sitting on, make sure it's not on the same side as Jimmy Bullard.

We don't need championship midfielders. He's a useless, perma-crock. A striker and a LB. That's our priority now. Our midfield is full of better players than Bullard.

you can bite me heed off if you want peeps ..but get nicky maynard on board before saturday ..did'nt we get andy cole from them (correct me if iam wrong ) look what he done for us...geordie tom

Believable5 Unbelievable0

We did get Cole from Bristol City, and no one had ever heard of him. Sometimes, the right player works at the right club, and something clicks. Hopefully this will be the case with our new players too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ashley wouldnt take that kind of gamble unless hes in aspers

Agree0 Disagree0

Ashley doesn't care as long as they are paid less than 30k a week. pieters wanted 35k. But he has got a point look at how much money we made last season 40m and not from the andy carroll sale. until he gets his money back and newcastle finnish in the top 10 he will improve the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

We also got best from bristol rovers. You never know with these sorts of players how they're gunna turn out. How old is maynard?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought best ccame from coventry

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean Coventry...

Agree0 Disagree0

Best came from coventry... not clyde best who played for west ham many moons ago lol

Agree0 Disagree0

My bad guys best was coventry. :p

Really fed up now. The derby just around the corner and no LB or striker in. Its Thursday for f sake We knew Jose was going all summer and that we needed another striker. So frustrating. Im worried about Sat now. Putting our hopes on Ameobi rising for this game again Says it all really
Psycho

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I agree with you but on a positive sholas done the bus before against the unwashed

Agree0 Disagree2

Yep youre really crapping yourselves

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Aug 2011 14:11:06
Ed any news on the striker and left back situations?
Im not an Ashley hater(Or pro Ashley for that matter) but it is completely unacceptable not to have atleast a left back(really another striker too) in for the derby. We've known Enrique was gonna be leaving for ages.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2011 14:16:56
After scouring the internet iv compiled a list of strikers that either we are interested or similar type of clubs are interested in.

Mobido Maiga (Sochaux) He wants to come buit ashley will probably f*** it up (7mill)

Bryan Ruiz (Twente) might be a bit too expensive at around 12 mill

Mame Biram Diouf (Man Utd) not needed apparently has a 6 mill price tag

Roque Santa Cruz (Man City) unlikely to make their 25 man squad city would need to take majority of the wages

Marko Arnautovic (Werder Bremen) fallen out of favour, fast tricky striker, ideal could cost around 10 million

Believable0 Unbelievable3

18 Aug 2011 14:00:20
wouldn't mind us signing maynard fits the bill with ashley. i would expect to join for around 4.5m because we are a prem team and no one will turn down a prem team. other championship clubs will have to pay at least 6.5m

Believable3 Unbelievable1

18 Aug 2011 13:59:45
ill be sitting with me prayer beads out for saturdays match...ill take a draw rite now

Believable1 Unbelievable2

If we get a draw after a hard fought match that could go either way then thats one thing but right now im hoping for a win What a sh*tter it will be for the unglorious unclean

Agree0 Disagree1

Al take a draw all day,we are on the back foot because of these mugs up stairs, can not see a win,but would be great if we could pull it off

FC Twente striker Bryan Ruiz has come out and said Fulham are interested in him and it is a dream to play in the Premier League so a move could be on the cards.

Now if Fulham can get this guy in, then there is no reason why we can't sign him. Ex teammate of Tiote's and with a goalrecord of 36 in 61 games for Twente, he can obviously bang them in.

Just someone else we should be looking at but won't because we seem to me incompetent at signing players.

Geo

Believable2 Unbelievable0

But how much? Thats the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if Fulham are making contact about him I can't see it being £10m or more?

The fact that he has said he wants to move means the onus is on the club who bid for him.

I'd say £8m would get him and it would be worth every penny. Non-African, young, quick, good finisher.

Geo

Agree1 Disagree0

8m is just right for him.

Anyone agree with my choice of strikers we should be looking to sign? Maynard and Ricky lambert. Pardew was said to be interested in lambert when he first arrived. Both are good british strikers with better scoring records compared to the players being touted from the other leagues. Also wages and transfer fee's shouldn't be as high as the foreigners. Ed what do you think on these two?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have you seen the prices English players go for this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I have but we could get these two in for the same price as arsenal are asking for bendtner Easy choice for me like

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take lambert over maynard but dont think they what we are looking for

Agree0 Disagree0

Maynard is more likely. under 25.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 13:06:00
Guess its looking like its gonna be Ryan "The Smile" Taylor at lb again against the Mackems :(
Then again im sure i read this new keep Rob Elliot can play left back too lol, worth a punt?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Doesnt jonas play for argentina in the left back position? Just a thought

Agree0 Disagree1

Shane fergie played 90 mins last night for the res so it would suprise me to see him so did Marveaux played the fully 90 mins two

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Jonas played at rb in the world cup(so probably could play left back too), but i dont think he was particularly good there.
Yeah if Ferguson is fit id rather play him, but pretty sure Pardew will go with Raylor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferguson will start at left back against mackems

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Aug 2011 12:41:36
Personally I think this Derby is too soon in the season just doesn't seem the same when it's further into the season it's much better as players get fitter and the excitement builds up seeing both teams results or maybe it's just me. I think it'll either come down to the fitter team and I'm guessing that'll be the Mackems due to them having a better pre-season or it'll be a draw 2-2 at best with 2 red cards.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

How have the mackems had a better pre season? Total rubbish throw away comment Both played the same amount of games and trained for the same amount of time so by 2nd game of the season most if not all the players should be fit and ready for action

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah but they are a better team

Agree2 Disagree1

We will see come satutday wont we and remember win lose or draw they at home so expected to win. Add that to the fans pressure of not getting done over again and it looks dodgy for SAFC. They need to win so will have to attack and thats when our pace comes in to it

Agree0 Disagree0

Aaahhh they at home

Agree0 Disagree0

They didn't have 3 players left with the reserves and another 1 that was stuck in Africa waiting for a visa should I mention the injury to Ben Arfa.

was reading on ssn website, that the PSV LB and the PSV have yet to agree a fee. So mike ashley has set Alan Pardew a task of top 10 finish Pardew wants a top 10 finish to, but pardew wants it in the top half. mike ashley wants to come 11th which is first in the bottom half. A striker clearly wants to come to us, but mike ashley is on willing to pay for him, ameobi lovenkrands are good for coming of the bench, maybe best but i want him to be give a chance. Ba did not impress on his first game. what do people think and ED DO YOU HAVE ANY NEWS AT ALL?

{Ed042's Note - None as yet mate sorry, very unlikely before the weekend tbh}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldnt tell you what i think cos didnt really understand your post mate Bit mixed up Think we can push for the top ten and are capable of doing so but beyond that is out of our reach and i expect to finish around 8th to 12th

Wish all this Ashley bashing would stop.the guy has put well over a £150milion into our club, has reduced player income drastically, brought and is still bringing in bright young prospects with sell on potential, got rid of most of the dross,no more stupid deals like Owen,Boumsong,Lucque. When Fair Play comes in next year will be laughing and near top 6. Support Ashley.hes a hard nut who gets results . We dont like the medicine hes giving us at the moment but it will pay off long term, just take a look at what hes done at Sports Direct, thats the way hes taking us

Believable3 Unbelievable6

I agree. Financially and for the future MA doing a great job and its right that when the new eufa rules start to take hold we will be in a strong financial position to challenge the upper ends of the league as we will be well off and able to bring in more players more easily

Just gobsmacked and don't know what to say with our lack of activity in signing one/two strikers (we have known for 8 months now since Carroll sale) replacement should have been found and signed in July. Equally obvious Enrique was going and again replacement lined up and in the following day.

Drove 500 mile round trip for Arsenal game and we never looked like scoring and their keeper never made a worth while save. Two late shots off target by Barton (who could be next to go).

Getting very worried for this season having initially been optimistic when we signed Cabaye and Marvereaux thinking they will create chances.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

In fairness marvaeux hasn't played yet and cabaye is still settling in, ba did ok considering the job he was asked to do, ben arfa is still to return from injury and obertan looked promising in the short time he was down the left wing. there are good signs and there is still more to come, provided we can get a left back and a striker before the end of the window, i think we could do pretty well and a top half finish would not seem that farfetched.

Agree0 Disagree1

Get these players settled and HBA back and we will soon start to see the threat we can pose. Also think gosling should be introduced as he has a killer pass that breaks defenses that ba and co likes to run on to. Marveux will prove to be a hit im sure especially when you think he come for free

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2011 11:15:55
if we dont have any new signings in by next friday we can kiss any hopeful signings goodbye, because the following week the window will close. yeah we might get a goalkeeper in, but we need a defender and 2 strikers

Believable0 Unbelievable1

18 Aug 2011 10:59:41
Don't you think it's about time Ashley or lambias
Grew some and at least made a statement as to what there intentions are regarding the future of the club
There total silence is insulting and frustrating
Mind you not sure I would believe anything they said

Believable2 Unbelievable0

How many times does he have to state his intentions or BP ?, people are not listening.

Lee ryder has just spoke to PSV chairman who said "Necwastle have not been in contact since the weekend"
please tell us you have some good news ED?
PessimisticPedro

{Ed042's Note - Haha transfers or news aside lad I think you should rethink your name, doesnt really set you up for a pleasant day.. as far as getting them in for the weekend, they have to be in and registered within the next 24 hours, so highly doubtful for the mackem game, but the signings will come... as for good news, two v.good performances out of Situ and Remy yesterday, hopefully get one if not both of them signed up.. Vuckic, scored again, Abeid and Moyo both had good games again, and a very impressive performance from Marveaux, thats the best news I can give you right now mate}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2011 10:23:04
I said last week we will not sign anybody before the window shuts but my post was not uploaded,
I Guarentee that no one will be signed, a good mate of mine had an uncle in Barry moats consortium hen he tried to buy the club, MA hates us fans with a passion and is doing the bare minimum he can,
Tiote will go sol probs jan that's why he got a big contract,
The club bid for players with amounts they know will be refused so they can be seen as trying
It's all a smoke screen
Wake up fellow fans we are owned by crooks that hate us and enjoy seeing us suffer

Has there been any more developments in our search for a striker? It's getting pretty close to the game with the unwashed and I'm worried we've not got the firepower to win. What's everyones opinion? Who would you like to see brought in? Personally I'd love to see Bendtner, but I doubt we'll offer £11 million the gooners are after.

Pete.

{Ed042's Note - I`m with you mate, Bendtner would be my choice by a country mile with the targets we have in mind}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Don't think Maynard would be a bad option if others fail to materialise
Looks sharp

Wouldn't mind Maynard myself but I think we need a proven premiership level goal scorer. Hope Obertan and Marveaux get plenty of game time on Saturday. I reckon they'll tear up the scum defence.

Ed, Any news on the LB and Striker situation? It dosen't look like we are getting anyone before Saturday then there are only 10 days remaining of the transfer window Are we goin to sign anyone?

{Ed042's Note - Have until tomorrow noon to sign someone if they are to be eligible to play on Saturday so doubtful to be honest.. I do think we will sign both LB and striker before the window closes 100%, would rather see it delayed and make the right signing than a knee-jerk reaction to appease fans, just get anyone in the door regardless of whether they can cut it or not, doesnt make sense.. frustrating as hell I know but what can you do}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2011 08:47:59
just a little over 2 days, and i will be the first to say, we wont have any players in before saturday. any news on that striker who wants to join us? id like to see dos santos on st james on loan from spurs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2011 08:32:56
Alight lads, looking forward to the game on Saturday. I think it will be close. Just an observation, but their are some stark similarities between Newcastle now and what S'land tried in the nineties. We had a succession of average managers (Reid/Wilkinson/McCarthy) who all operated under a board convinced we could balance the books and attract talent - we could do neither. I remember the penny dropped way too late in one transfer window and by this time we most players/agents were sceptical about our future and we left paying big money for Torre Andre Flo in a last ditch attempt to survive. Niall Quinn realised we were not the big draw we thought we were and had to pay over the odds to attract anyone - particulalry proven Prem players living down south. It was a reality check and like him or hate him, Bruce understands our limitations and that money talks in football. I really hope you lot don't suffer the same fate we did when we tried to run the club like an ordinary business and refused to pay a premium for talent but if history repeats itself the die may already be cast. I really hope not as the derbies and banter are too much fun and our supporters bring something to the premier league all others envy. I think the Derby will be a leveller as usual but I hope you can get rid of the fat controller and get back to where you should be so it continues. Don't want to be patronising at all just think he needs a reality check, listen to the fans, and look no further than down the road to see his business plan carries a huge risk. Good luck for the season anyway, Mack the Knife

Believable3 Unbelievable1

No disrepect to sunderland mac we never had to much of a problem attracting players the only diffrence now is as much as i dont like ashley the man is a genius when it comes to making money and thats what makes him a very shrewd buisness man but that does not help the newcastle team as there is players who will come and some descent ones aswell the problems is ashley wants them cheap as possible so they have a bid resale value and theres nothing wrong with that but the problem is we need to spend a chunk on a striker and left back..

Agree2 Disagree0

Aye, very true mate, no doubt N'castle a big draw compared to most - and Ashley can clearly run a business, no question. So could Bob Murray & most of the drumaville consortium. They still didn't get the concept modern players / agents place pound shillings and pence way above the desire / enjoyment of play for a quality club in front of a big crowd and whilst a player may not be worth the money, it's still worth paying it, if that makes sense It can influence factors that make teams tick, Confidence, momentum, support, morale, ambition, etc. These are huge currencies in football, unlike other businesses and im not sure he recognises their worth mate. Anyways, all the best lad. Mack The Knife

Agree3 Disagree0

Cheers mac nice speaking to a sensible makem...lol

It feels like this will be remembered as the transfer window when Newcastle dug their own grave. What are really the chances that we will get in a LD and a striker? 10%? 50%? The sad thing is that we need 3-4 new players but we have to be glad if we even get one more. I don't believe MA and PA will spend more then 4-5 millions in total so we can forget about any saviors coming in. What do you believe are the odds for anyone coming in Ed?

{Ed042's Note - 100% by the time the window closes mate. We need a LB and striker and were fine. More depth in back ups in defence would be a nice luxury, seems to have been identified with Situ and Remy on trial. Theres the 3 to 4 we need to be confident of top ten. It will happen, just maybe not as quick as people want it to}
