any news on the lads injury? will the F. A. step in and punish the wigan player? he wants banned for as long as haidra is out injured that's if he ever gets back playing again. about the game we got cheated out of a point and possibly to go on and win the game as we were looking the stronger team. geordie tom

Believable5 Unbelievable2

What annoys the hell out of me is, just after crippling Hadaira, the culprit who should have been sent off was giving it cocky etc on the ball.
wanted to smack him in the chops.
wish Hadaira well, hope his injury isn't as serious as it looked.
how can Martinez defend it?
as for the game, we were robbed by poor officiating and cheating players.
bad day for NUFC, but we will bounce back.

It wasn't a great tackle but Cabaye gets away with it every week but he's just a bit cuter! Get over it!

Agree1 Disagree10

Had he got a red which he deserved we had a good chance to win or draw. To compound it all they win with a handball, rotten result, rotten game and rotten officiating.

Agree5 Disagree2

Not going to say Cabs doesn't make some bad challenges but he's never made one that bad.

Agree8 Disagree1

Of course he hasn't!

Agree3 Disagree2

No pal, he hasn't. How can Martinez, a fellow I quite liked defend his player.
He can't defend that sort of thing.
All I seem to be reading and hearing is "the lad doesn't have a bad bone in his body" well that's utter rubbish and cowardly.
and i'm talking from experience.
so for your lame excuses and the way he got a hero's reception I want Wigan to go down, and never return.

About my original post WHY do people disagree? are they disagreeing because they think the tackle was nowt serious? or because they just disagree for the sake of it. geordie tom

fed up of cisse offside all season, if he can't look in a staight line how is he going to shoot in a straight line, nobody turned up today, rubbish

Believable3 Unbelievable5

'Papiss offside' that's his new name, he must tell his mates to put a grand on him being offside 5 times in a game and takes a percentage because its that embarrassing! what's his average per game might be an interesting stat?

Agree2 Disagree3

That is because Cisse plays to break the offside trap, how long have you been watching Newcastle and not figured that one out yet?

Cisse plays on his toes against the backline, the problem is not Cisse's predatory instincts to break the offside trap, the problem the ball is not being released early enough for him.

What do you expect when Tiote was the man tasked with distributing and doing all the supplying, I mean TIOTE! what the hell.

Why is Tiote being used in an Iniesta role is beyond me, I know he is supposed to be there to be defensive but all he does is chase shadows, the majority of his play is spreading the ball and being the source of the build up. Probably one of the worst players in the league you could ask to play in the position that sees most of the play on the ball, we have Mr. T playing in a Carrick role, god help us.

Agree2 Disagree0

The idea is to break the offside trap not start offside, don't blame the supply of cabaye etc, he needs to stay onside otherwise he wastes half of our attacks. simple

Agree2 Disagree0

Surely Cisse needs to adapt his game and realise the early pass isn't coming. Also there have been plenty of times where he's been standing five yards offside screaming for the ball.

Agree1 Disagree1

''The idea is to break the offside trap not start offside, don't blame the supply of cabaye etc, he needs to stay onside otherwise he wastes half of our attacks. simple''

What a clueless post.

How do you expect a striker to break the offside trap if the striker does not try to get an early run on the defenders, do you even know how the theory of breaking the offside trap works?

How many times has Cisse broken the offside trap since he has came? 'LOADS' of times, that's how many, and you are saying he does not know how breaking the offside trap works, are you serious?

Let me explain this for you in Laymans Terms:

Defenders playing the offside trap will step forward to try and play the striker offside.

A Striker to defeat this trap needs to have a understanding with the player that is supplying the ball to him, the supplying player needs to read the game so that when a pocket of space for the striker to run into opens up, the ball is supplied. the striker needs to trust that his supplying player is reading the game the same way he is, so that they are both on the same page when the gap opens up.

Now: This works all the time for Cabaye & Cisse, tried and tested method.

If you are bringing the ball out from midfield and Cisse has a clear run on goal and is itching to run against the last defender, what do we do at this point?

Answer: You play the ball into the space for Cisse to run into.

What do we not do?

Answer: we do not read the game slowly, playing the ball into the space after Cisse has already made his run.

What have we learned from this:

Answer: That the player supplying the ball must release the ball to Cisse when he is about to run into space, not after.

Conclusion, Without Cabaye, Cisse is not getting the through balls he needs, the midfielders need to release the ball earlier to a player that is a pro at breaking the offside trap. Cisse being offside is the fault of the players not reading his runs.

Glad I could help you out with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

''Surely Cisse needs to adapt his game and realise the early pass isn't coming''

Have you watched Newcastle play in the games Cisse has played upfront?

The team is 'ALWAYS' looking for the early pass into Cisse, that is the defining tactic of the way we play.

what bull sh*t
we should of played better but what he f*** was the ref doing, twice!
i feel soo sorry for Haidara as his career may be in jeprody before it had even started. As for the handball it was so obvious for the linesman yet he did nothing.
this happens way to often in the bpl. the FA should hire or train referees more so they don't make mistakes like this so often.

We now have nothing to aim for in the league but we have the europa league to focus on and I feel we have a chance in that especially if Chelsea and Tottenham get knocked out this round.

up the toon

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Nothing to aim for in the league? How about trying to stay in it, despite what the pearly king says. You have lost half of your matches now, and before you come back with "we are still above you"garbage it ain't us who are crowing about how good we are. it is you deluded lot. You could still be relegated too, take a look at the table.

Agree0 Disagree5

Take a look at your next 4 fixtures you silly Mackem.

Agree3 Disagree0

Why are the Makems facinated with Newcastle?

all they talk about on their page is Newcastle etc etc.
and are always on our pages.

Mackem post:

No, the only thing we have to aim for is winning europa league, we have avoided relegation and we're about 7 points clear. Our home form is good and if we start picking up away form we'll do better. Your the ones who should be aiming to avoid relegation. Southampton will finish above you, aston villa and wigan are starting to come into form which leaves sunderland, reading and QPR to go down. Bye bye mackems.

Touched a nerve, sorry about that.

Pardew's targets for this season or he should be sacked in the summer:
-Win Europa league or get to the final
-Pick up our away form
-Win derby day
If only one or two of these targets are achieved then we should get in martinez or clarke

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Not martinez his is defending mcmanaman. He can fist himself

Agree7 Disagree1

Steve Clarke, harry redknapp all play good attractive football.

Agree3 Disagree2

Steve Clarke?

He has already been & failed at Newcastle, no thanks.

Clarke has found his place, doing good with a mediocre team. We are a sleeping giant that needs awakened, not a small club needing a miracle manager to keep us up every season.

Redknapp - Yes!

Clarke - NO

Agree3 Disagree1

What has redknap done apart from spending loads of money and putting clubs in trouble

Agree1 Disagree2

Last post ^^ Redknapp got a mid table side into the champions league.

Surely santon scoring will give pardew an indicator to play him on the wing against city

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Santon getting to predictable, plays on left cuts in all the time,, on right goes on outside all time, any player on wing has to be able to do both surely

Agree1 Disagree0

If we ever needed any proof that Santon is a winger then it was proved Today as a winger he scored a good goal as a defender he cost us a goal.

Agree2 Disagree0

Santon scored a good goal, but to be fair, it was the only good thing he did all game.

His defending at right back was shabby, and I cannot remember a moment where he was running with the ball and he didn't give the ball away, apart from the goal.

Right first half, wigan should be down to ten men but, we can still cope. Absolutely crap half, what formation were we playing? What the hell was sissoko playing at? We started playing hoofball half the time and I thought that phase was over. Pardew has just got outsmarted by martinez and we have just been outplayed by wigan. Show us something else in the second half and get a second away win, because our away form is embarrassing, no win or draw today and our premier league season is down the drain.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

That was as bad a showing as I have seen this season. Clueless.

Only Mbiwa and Taylor turned up.

And what was the basketball style 2nd Wigan goal all about.

Complete calamity.

And another thing, I would like to know how McManaman is going to live with himself after what he did.

That guy should go home and take a good look at himself in the mirror and ask himself who he really is.

That is Haidara's season over.

McManaman's challenge, dirty dirty DIRTY! player.

How does he stay on the pitch is the question.

Disgusting!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I actually feel physically sick by what I just witnessed, Haidara will be lucky to have a career left after that.

If I said how I feel about McManaman it would not get past the Eds.

We cannot let Wigan beat us after what has just happened, the lads need to pull together and get something out of this game for the sake of Haidara.

If we lose this game after letting Wigan practically cripple one of our lads, I can tell you this right now, my support will be dwindling.

Seems like Carver is the only one that gives a sh*te.
