Don't see why everyone is happy that cabaye might be leaving. Sure he wasn't at his best last season. But he was asked to play more defensively and play long balls which isn't his position.

If he was played in his correct position, which is further up the pitch, then he would have performed much better and Cisse probably would have scored more goals!

I for one hope he stays!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's 95% going

Agree0 Disagree0

If they offer 25 million for him then I would snap their hands off. He clearly doesn't want to be here. As long as the money in re invested correctly then its a good piece of business.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that also go for his abysmal free kicks and corners
Cabayeis good in a good team and will always offer the icing on the cake BUT
we have nowhere near a good team in all positions whilst Pardew inspires no one except Ashley

With 28m webcam do lot and sign an industrius quality player and a few others

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody wants cabaye to leave. Its just that we are resigned to losing him if someone like monaco come in with a 25m to 30m bid, that's good buisness if we sell around that price. Then we could get a younger talent like Belhanda and wijnaldum

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think playing from deep suits Cabaye perfectly.

He is not a player that dribbles and beats players; therefore he should be playing where there is space from him to apply his craft.

The problem is that the team was very disjointed last season, different players were attempting to play different styles and there was no harmony.

I would describe our style last season as immature, too many players getting excited and running towards goal and shooting, shooting from silly distances, players not holding the ball up and waiting for support in attacks, players not passing the ball around in attacks etc.

Our attacks are pacey and frantic, there is nothing wrong with bringing the midfield high up the pitch and playing the ball around in the other half of the pitch, what all this sprinting around on solo runs is about I have no idea.

When you have 1 man sprinting down the pitch with only 2 players for support up against 6 or 7 opposition players it is a path to nowhere.

i half expect to see this another 40 times posted on here tonight by the time the football finishes on tv. however Honda for japan is available on a free and although we seem to have heeard of this guy for a number of years he is 27. showing he can play even against brazil. anyone else like to see him in the black and white stripes. if cabaye is going and you want someone with pace who can create. seems like a cheap replacement to me. although I have no idea what wage demands he would have. {Ed001's Note - BBC were incorrect, he is not free until January, his contract runs out 31/12/2013.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if cabaye leaves we need to replace him with a defensive midfielder and an attacking one.

De Jong and Diame
Wijnaldum and diame
Belhanda and diame
Honda and diame

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched Maher for the 2nd time playing for Holland U21.

The guy is sensational, has trickery to beat players, his passing is spot on all the time, he can also unleash one heck of a shot and keep it under the bar surprisingly enough, lost art on most players these day.

He is only 19 and plays for 'AZ' who I don't think could be able to resist a strong bid.

We have been interested in him in the past.

Anyone with money and any sense should be raiding that Dutch U21 side.

I notice a few big clubs are already going for Ginkel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got as much chance of sticking a ape in goal than Newcastle getting Honda, players like this look at silverware won and how long has it been?

Am I on my own in thinking cabeye would get no where near a top teams midfield, whilst he became a cult hero because the bairns in the gallowgate corner came up with a popular song
I remember him playing fantastic on his come back game v stoke I can't remember to many times when he stepped up to the plate when needed towards the end of the season in fact all I remember is him limping off with 30 mins to go most of the time
If we can get 25 million its great business wether that would be reinvested is another thing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally agree, Cabaye in my opinion is an average/good midfielder but would struggle to get in the starting line up of any of the top four teams anywhere in europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

One million per cent agree

Agree0 Disagree0

Just as we'll that your opinions don't count, then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not good business we will see very little of this money and the rest in fatmans pocket

With the great news Colo is staying for another year atleast. Let's concentrate on a quality striker, maybe a left mid/winger and an attacking midfielder capable of scoring 8 - 10 goals a season. I would like Pea or Bony, Siem De Jong. Ideally Winj (young dutch player can't spell his name) but more likely Sinclair, Ince or Redmond.
Approx 25 mil, if we can sell some dead wood i. e Gosling, Williamson, Sh Ameobi etc and get about 6-8 mil in it won't be to big an investment and a stronger squad to have a better coming season, top 7 to 10 and a good cup run if our manager can show an interest in a cup run.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Colo staying is great news. Would still push for Douglas also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, douglas, wijnaldum, remy and bent, and redmond would be a great transfer window. doubt we're going to get PEA or bony, too expensive unless we sell cabs or cisse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everyone on about Douglas, he really ain't THAT good, how many of you actually watch him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas is as good as anything we have. He is really is that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same goes for Remy. Why would any Newcastle fan want him to sign. He is only out for as much money as possible and had the chance to sign in January but chose to go to Dirty Harry's team. Scored a few goals but nothing special. At least go English Bent or even Defoe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree any more he's like a Brazilian Bramble with a temper to match Barton.

Agree0 Disagree0

I ll think you ll find 99% of players go to who pays them the most. Why should Remy be any different. He has show cased that he can play in the PL if he is available we should take him. If I am wrong think back to Carrol! He left for the money.

most of these foreign strikers all seem to want to sign for championship league teams, however most will sit on the bench, if they want to play football then were a decent size club and. will def give them first team action, can't sit on bench for bigger teams and expect to play for national teams next year world cup. I think we will get a surprise top striker so we can another name on our shirts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tom Ince would be a good signing along with Wijnaldum

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree mate, but these days players are just blinded with dollar signs.
