What reference does this have to the first post mate? liverpool finished behind Everton this year (which i loved as i like Everton great club) and all newcastle fans around the globe know that those players did us proud, considering most pundits had us around the drop to midtable, 5th place is beyond achievement. However a team like Liverpool over spending on players like Henderson, Downing and Carroll have only themselves to blame for poor performances and there lowest league finish in years. This one club city thing pisses me off its because Newcastle's city boundary is fairly small is fairly small but it is the centre of a conurbation (greater city area) called Tyne and Wear which just like Merseyside has two prem clubs in it .The mackems are 12 miles away in the same built up area and as we know support is split right through the conurbation.
Geography lesson over and by the way Merseyside is bigger than Tyne and Wear

To be honest I wouldn't really fussed if we sell Ba, he's a great player and I really like him but at least £7 million is great a amount of money to get for someone who was signed on a free transfer. Just think of what Newcastle could do with at least £7 million in the transfer market.

So why on earth do we allow players to put things like that in their contracts then? I mean yeah it's good business getting someone free but then putting something in that says another club can also have them for free doesn't make sense to me at all!! Surely if we were the club "giving him his chance" ( dodgy knees etc) then we should have had more power setting the terms right?

I really don't believe that Mike Ashley would have put in his clause that ba gets half of the release clause, really believe there is more to it. Then if he has and that's a big if then we would get 3.5m we would not be paying his agent anything out of that as that would be up to his new club to sort out. Like I say though cant see it being true in the first place as Newcastle are really strict on bringing in players with the right attitude I.e. wanting to play for us and not money. By ba insisting on this it shows he's more about the money than the team. Any thoughts ed?

Ba was on a free contract from West ham but we still needed to pay the agent high fees to get him here, we paid alot mor in agent fess than other clubs last year and signing ba was why. plus the reason he got the clause was because we refused to pay him higher wages so he got the clause put in

I would think ashley who agreed to the clause would have it that if ba gets any money the buying team would cover that aswell as the agents fees as lets be honest when it comes to making money he,s good at that...
