Hearing tonight that newcastle utd & glasgow rangers are in negotiations over a partnership that allows rangers to sign some of our young talent on loan that are not yet ready for our first team squad, this wouldn't surprise me as our owner mike ashley has a link to both clubs

I know we need strikers and one definite striker I think newcastle should go for is Manchester United striker chicharito, 'little p' the mexican is exactly the type of striker we're looking for, he's an out & out finisher and has terrific movement especially in the penalty box, what do we think geordie fans?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would love him, but I think we will be priced out and he will look for a club in europe

Only a friendly tonight, all about getting the fitness up, and the only real senior names that played were anita, colback, m'biwa and gouffran

i remember we lost 6-1 in one of our friendlies during the 11/12 season.

What about De Jong he scored did he not

Replacing what we sell isn't going to make us better, just not worse, desperate for strikers and centrebacks. think we should have a punt on Rhodes from blackburn

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately, I think Rhodes has recently signed a new deal with Blackburn.

Agree0 Disagree0

How are Dejong Cabella and Colback replacing what we have sold

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see Baldy's point although I am happy with the window so far. Cabella is a replacement for HBA when he leaves. De Jong is Cabaye replacement and Colback replaced Gosling. Perez is part of the development squad and Jannment has replaced Debuchy. So it is 1 in 1 out. Saying all that a couple of good strikers and a solid CB and it would have been a good window.

De Jong isn't a replacement for Cabeye, different sort of player.
De Jong will score goals, Cabeye was more of a creator.
This is why we still need Grenier. He would just sit and pull the strings with his passing.
Would be happy with Grenier and one more striker. Anything more would be a bonus.

Agree0 Disagree0

De Jong is very much a creative player and is also more of a link man rather than an out and out striker. If in your opinion De Jong is not Cabaye replacement then Cabaye won't be replaced. Colback, Sissoko Anita even Abeid are able to play alongside Tiote.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed fnuklnuk de Jong is the man who acts as a "hook" and links midfield to attack. He had a good 60mins last night, he looked smart on the ball and scored a fantastic goal.

As for Grenier I don't think we need him as that doesn't seem to be the style pardew is going with. It's more of two aggressive defensive midfielders pressing, then 3 attacking midfielders in front.

Rivière is likely to sign before this week ends, Mbiwa could also leave in the period. We have been linked with various centre backs but all have interest from other parties. Van dijk has been linked with us as well as Southampton, rudiger has been linked with west ham and also us, caulker did get a mention but looks set for palace. Dier and Richards have both been linked aswell, dier could be a good option but would be a risk and Richards is all about wages.
Old striker targets have also been linked including Carroll but west ham are quick to deny it. Could be interesting when if hammers get Valencia, would Carroll be happy on the bench or could he force through above home

Welcome our new right back Daryl Janmaat!

Just hope someone has put the last half of 2013/14 stars under Ashley's nose so he can see how bad
we were not scoring and conceding and get the strikers that they are trying to buy and a CB which are both vital

The system Pardew seems to he adopting
is to play Anita and Tiote with Williamson
and Coll and for sure Janmaat will improve
the back BUT there are some good defenders
out there let's hope we get one after some
good signings so far.

I posted that what we needed was Jenkinson to replace MD but I am happy to eat humble pie and say that the board knew better in getting Janmaat. I can't believe that A) we have got him when Manchester United are screaming out for a new right back and B) for the price.
Perhaps with the extra money from the sale of Debuchy and the cheap deal for Cabella the board will splurge on at least one top class proven striker.
Now if we are happy to spend £15m on one would you rather have Remy, Lacazette, chicarito (excuse spelling) or PEA?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Janmaat an absolute bargain. Maybe what is was saying about him a few weeks ago was wrong, he's been solid for Netherlands.

As for the choice of strikers, that's a very hard one to make! Probably PEA tbh, young hard working and is also very versatile.

Like most of us I was very pessimistic about this transfer window, there is still work to be done but I have to say that I am very happy with what has happened so far.
De Jong signing will mean no Grenier but for the difference in price I do not blame the board and TBH they are much the same. Pleased we signed Collback as I think he has great heart and great ability, can tackle and work like Tiote but is a better passer. Perez will be one for the future if he does not get Pardew'd but looks to have bags of ability and Cabella looks to be a terrific signing and Janmaat is a better all round full back than MD as he can actually defend.
We have missed out on Lassoga (not sure if that is good or bad) but I am now "beginning" to have confidence in the board to bring in what we need which is 2 more strikers and I believe a centre half as I think Pards will play 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 or similar but definitely with three centre backs.
For the first time in ages I am feeling positive so credit where it is due to the board (including Ashley for once).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Credit goes to charnley as well he's done a superb job, getting quality players for absolute bargains.

I personally think the team is setup to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1

With Janmaat signing it has to be hats off to Charnley
Think we all agree 2 Strikers and a CB and possibly a
keeper to challenge Krul

Someone has woken Ashley up and it is about time
Heard there us interest in consortium
to buy but only if the team is in top 8 to justify
Ashley's now asking price

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Possibly a winger will be needed as HBA will probably be leaving.

I'd take Wickham from the mackems, he's rejected a new contract and kept them up last season.

Hopefully rivière will sign tomorrow.

As for a winger and centre back, Zaha and Richards, Caulker or Lascelles

So we've basically missed out on 4 of our striker targets.

Lacazette-too expensive they want around £16mil now, and he wants champions league obviously.
Remy-QPR want £15mil for him as we only finished 10th so a club like arsenal would only have to pay £8m due to clauses in his contract.
Ba-He's off to besiktas.
Valencia-Had a medical at west ham ahead of £12m move, I really think we could have done with him.
It also seems we won't be getting PEA either as he wants to stay at Dortmund and their asking price may be too high.

It looks like we've got Rivière, so that's 1 striker, the question is who will be the other?
Rumours that we could go back in for Andy Carroll but he's on £100k a week and they probably want something in the region of £15-20m

And it looks very likely that Ben Arfa is set to leave this transfer window as there are doubts that he will not be on the plane to New Zealand

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shola is more of a Striker than Riviere, not too fussed on him. I have a sneeking feeling gouffran will play up front with de jong behind him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop fretting JT man the window doe'snt close till the 1st of sept plenty time to get one or two strikers in. about Demba Ba its not stuck on he's going to turkey. Remy would you want him back? so anyone else any ideas on who we should (could get ) EDS your thoughts on this. me I would of went for Michu
