we got a stronger squad than the 1 that finidhed 5th people need to start being more optemistic toon toon black n white army

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We do have a stronger that's fair enough but we have the same manager with the same tactics. So it doesn't matter how go the squad is with him in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree and that the January signings will have gelled more so we might play more like a team this season, the players are certainly confident they think we should be challenging the top 6. But it's a fact that we still need a few more signings and get rid of players like Williamson Jonas obertan gosling. I'd bet a million quid that Jonas starts at city

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 6! they are more deluded than the fans then, phaaaaa top 6 my arse

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are not in the top 6, 7th should be the worst position we will accept from Pardew this season.

He has a top 7 squad, if he cannot get a top 7 squad in to the top 7, then obviously we need to find somebody that can.

We are not asking for miracles, just get the squad in to the league position it deserves to be based on how good the squad is.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are not deluded. They are confident.

Agree0 Disagree0

You have a bottom 6 squad as was proved last season, and don't say injuries, europe as excuses, all teams suffer from injuries, you are suffering from a poor squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm really worried. Alan Pardew, three times manager of the year, ably supported by His Excellency Joking Ear (also thrice manager of the year - really!) will have to compete tactically with Agent Bruce, Mark Hughes, Holloway, Di Canny-oh, Fat Sam - every one a genius. However shall we cope? Pretty well, I guess.

When people where saying that we wouldn't sign anyone else after the Remy deal was completed, I thought they were just being negative. However I really think this is a possibility. We need another striker and a winger or we will struggle. Until we get new owners I can seriously see us struggling from season to season. I think we have good players but we need strength in depth.

what the hell is our club turning into? one by one these so called targets are disappearing now it looks like bent is going to fulham! man up A P and demand we make a last ditch bid for this player you said you wanted! and the player wanted to come! it is pathetic the way this club is being run I am looking forward to this season like a hole in the head! its just beyond words now!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pardew can say what he wants about transfer targets without repercussion from the fans. He has a shield in JK to hide behind to take the blame for not getting anyone in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get yourself over to the Arsenal page if you want to see real problems lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah they are worried they might not make champs league, oh for their problems

Agree0 Disagree0

''Yeah they are worried they might not make champs league, oh for their problems''

It is a bit more than that.

They have sold 17 players this summer, and only recruited one.

They only have 4 fit defenders, in fact nearly half of their squad has injuries or problems.

We were not promised a 70 million spending spree that did not happen either.

Agree0 Disagree0

If people are calling us deluded for targeting a top 8 finish this season, why don't you say that to the players? Tiote, debuchy, Taylor, Sissoko are all saying we should be targeting top 6! That's how much confidence they have in themselves on the back of a terrible season. We might all be surprised and have a fantastic season, but we shouldn't get our hopes up too high!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair getting Man City first game of the season is a great opportunity to gauge what kind of season we will have.

If we can take a point away from the Etihad, we will mean business this season.

My biggest worry is Jesus Navas, the Man City team are not quite gelled yet, but he is without doubt the player we should be keeping an eye on. Santon has pace so that will be an interesting battle.

Negredo does not look very clinical to me, so hopefully he will play and we can claim a draw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not the squad I am worried about except we are short in the striking department. The biggest issue we will have this season is Pardew and his tactics or lack of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hola

That's right. Having avoided relegation last season they are quite right to target top six. No one thinks they want to get away at all.

Totali De Loodaid-Jordis (Barca)

Agree0 Disagree0

That Spanish tripe is getting a bit old mate. Amusing at 1st but no one likes to here the same joke over and over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Negredo not clinical, I bet he scores at least 2 past you lot on monday! if it's not at least 3-0 to city i'd be very surprised!

I'm starting to get annoyed about these arguments over the Cabaye situation. People including me are saying we shouldn't accept any bids unless its at least 25m. Then the instant reaction is "how deluded are you, he's no where near worth that" that's the point! We don't want to sell Cabaye! So why put a price tag on him that we know the likes of Psg can match? 25m is near the possibility of no club wanting to pay the money. Jesus!

If Campbell has gone on loan does this mean that there is another deal lined up for a striker to sign imminently? OR because it is just for a month is it just to give him game time so he can come back and play for the first team because we are not signing another striker?

Gomis deal dead in papers, but I expect it to re surface - may or may not go through, me personally from what I'm hearing? We will get him for half the price in Jan

Another sad fact is that other Joe watching vossen and slight interest in Jordan Rhodes, we may start the season as is. And based on how that worked out for us last yea, I'm nit overly happy about it.

D

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OK get Gomis in January for half bat, we could be propping the friggin league up by then man

Campbell away to Carlisle on loan and Remy out for a month then it's his court case so were now anothe 2 strikers down. I can't see us letting Campbell go if there were no-one coming in.

Hate to say it, but I think Graham Carr should move on. He must be demoralised, spends all year making a list of players we should buy, only for us to not go and buy them, not even try.
Surely the most satisfying thing for him would be to recommend a player, buy him and go on to see that player become a success. It's not going to happen for him here is it.
Feel sorry for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sad but true

Agree0 Disagree0

You have no idea who Carr has recommended or whether we have bid for any of them, have you? So what's this post about?

Lambias was put under pressure for telling Ashley
we needed Douglas & Striker of Quality at least
and told he knew nothing about football and do his real job
he told Ashley he knew more than him and now it is history
Joker brought in to ensure minimum could be spent

Gomis fell away & everyone is happy
the way it has turned out leaving Newcastle as positve
and with NO outlay

Newcastle will run on Half full and feel the
heat from clubs really interested in staying in
the premiership

Only waiting now for Pardew to state the obvious
he agrees with Ashley

We have a club going nowhere except down
And sooner these persons agreeing with Ashley understand that
it may make it less painful to see their club being
destroyed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont know about the Llambis stuff but the rest is harsh but true. The window will close and Ashley will have a net profit one way or another and we will have he same squad. Its criminal that we will line up against City with the same team that couldn't score a goal in 3 home attempts.

Agree0 Disagree0

I tried to cancel season tickets and the ground and was told I could not until feb 14 he taking the p out of us long enough the only way to get a result is to form a on line group and stop paying this mupet our money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why can't all Toon fans see sense like this? Too many Ashley apologists and amateur accountants who are happy to see balanced books and frightening themselves silly with the (stupid) fear that we 'will go down like Portsmouth and Leeds' if we spend any serious money
It's time to take a positive stand against this tight owner who has no ambition for our club. Stay away, demonstrate or whatever but just don't roll over and die.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said m8! everyone needs to boycott the west ham game before the window shuts to make a massive statement and for anyone oue there that states what about the team! for get it the club is bigger than any player or team we need to fight for our club now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy for a non season ticket holder to say boycott the match. end of the day its our club our city our right to support them, no matter how crap they may be. I remember a cold december in the raining watching us lose to notts county, those were bad days but hey I went the following week too. we lost to wolves

Agree0 Disagree0

That would do it no doubt. An empty stadium for the West ham game would send the correct message. Will it happen I very much doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody forced you to a buy a season ticket. I gave mine up last season. If 52000 people keep turning every other week Ashley will just crack on with his current posture. Why can't you see that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because I love the toon. i'd watch them in northernprem if need be. ain't letting lack of ambition ruin my up bringing and way of life. its asport I love but end of the day that's all it is. I pay to watch so I live with the consequences.

I have said this before on this website and I am going to say it again. The biggest problem at Newcastle is not necessarily signing players, formations or even Mike Ashley. I firmly think the main issue is not having a clear style of play that runs from the first team to the under 9's that stays regardless of managers (as they come and go). A clear example of clubs that have a style of play such as Barcelona, Swansea, B Munich, Dortmund, Arsenal and so on. The reason why I think this is so important to establish a "Newcastle way of playing" is that it allows long term solutions and will eventually bring success and true stability. Look at Swansea, in the past few years they have had three managers but have kept a style of play! Clearly this has worked for them, and on paper (part from a few) wouldn't get in our first team. Newcastle problems lay with having no foundation to build on and chop and change where the wind blows. If Newcastle established a style of play and insisted that it is taught from under 9's upwards from now on, in 10 years time you have players who should be able to slot into the first team.

Jimmy1976

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally agree Jimmy, but do we have a set of coaches and academy that can help establish a philosophy? Do we have a manager who can establish a philosophy? You never know we might see signs of 11/12 in the start of the new season. We might all be surprised and suddenly the 4231 does work and we play some high tempo, pint point passing football and pick up 7 points in our first 3 games. Or it could go terribly wrong and have a terrible start.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree mate. Pardew has no philosophy. Look at brendan rodgers, he knows what kind of football he wants his team to play, has a plan b also. Pardew doesn't seem to have a plan a. i'm hoping he's sorted that out however in pre season things still look the same, no improvement on tactics. Still, early days

Geordie Al

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its what a proper DOF should be doing, I have no faith this will be sorted. I am 37 and seen managers come and go like everyone else, but I have never seen Newcastle establish a "Newcastle way" of playing. We should seriously be addressing this problem. As for the academy, well for me it doesn't work because we don't have a philosophy so coaches can't teach the young lads a philosophy! They can only teach general things. I bet that each team we put out from the 1st team to under 9's play differently. But I bet Barcelona play the same way all the way from under 9's

Im starting to worry now I thought bent was a last resort & we woukd get him if we couldn't get our 1st targets but now it looks like he's away to Fulham even though he wanted to come to us what a BLOODY JOKE. Fife toon

Seeing as Remy is likely injured until mid September and we've just sent Adam Campbell on loan to Carlisle for a month I can definitely see us signing another striker as only having Cisse, Ameobi and Gouffran is definitely not even close to enough options up front.

There's still the possibility of Gomis although it appears we've moved onto other targets but I would expect to see at least another striker in before the West Ham game.

Someone please fill me in on some transfer news for our club PLEASE! ED? anyone new? anything at all?

Also why is everyone thinking that Colo is going all of a sudden? Just because we are linked with a new CB doesn't mean that we will be getting shot of him.
Can no one remember the reason why he didn't go home in Jan? Because the club he wanted to move too (to go back home) can't afford him (they wanted him to buy his own contract out) and he still has like three years left of a £60,000 a week contract left to run!
We have put a price on his head of £10 Million for this reason!

Unless that is met, or Colo himself buys out his contract he will not be going anywhere!
Remember we are Newcastle, we demand a load of money for our players, this normally stops teams from placing bids for them because they know they will be paying through the nose!

SD news claiming Bent having a medical at Fulham today, great another target disappears. He is a proven PL goal scorer and he is desperate to be part of the world cup squad so will be busting his nuts to have a great season, what's the odds he scores the winner in a couple of weeks at our place.

Cabaye has been heavily linked with Tottenham in the past but we dismissed it as spurs had so many midfielders. Now they have lost huddle stone, Livermore, Parker etc I think a move could be made

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully not though
